    How can you test if the burner needs cleaning or if the water side is scaled? when you have high stack temp

      It is more that burners are DESIGNED for some expected backpressure in the furnace. Traditionally, boilers are neutral or slightly negative at the stack outlet, so because there is resistance to flow within the flue passes, the furnace is by default positive. Consequently, if there is no furnace pressure, the burner may be outside its design window in some cases. Hopefully that makes sense and answers your question. Thanks for watching!
