This Roblox horror game is unique. It doesn't have any monsters. What makes it scary is the *fear* that something could be lurking in one of those closets.
That's a problem for me, what's the point of being scared if little to nothing is going to happen? I would never watch videos or play these kind of games. It's like the problem with JJ's Abrams' Mystery Box from Star Wars, a mystery can add to a story but not make one if never revealed. You have to reveal something to progress or end the story if presented. And for a horror game if the threat is non-existent, obviously there's nothing to be afraid of. Its just noises and fake enemies that don't hurt or kill you. We have fear because of danger, if you never reveal one then you are abusing our instinct. The most basic danger is running from an enemy chasing us.

You don’t need a monster or anything, the fear knowing that something will just pop out is enough to creep the hell out of anyone. This one really shows it so well, along with Jim’s constant fear of preparing for the end of the world. It’s kind of beautiful in a way.
The part where he points the gun at himself was very deep and disturbing tbh. He might have a really bad paranoia issue along with anxiety. Sleep paralysis horror games do the same thing except amp the anti on every neuron.
this game is extremely scary in my opinion, the feeling of foreshadowing of death is so unsettling, and being so paranoid that you suicide is something that isnt always isnt mentioned, shown or even expressed in video games nowadays. truly top class.
Im at least 98% sure this game was inspired by the Mandela catalogue, it’s just too similar not to be. Still, inspired or not it is a really good horror game, I’m glad there’s actual scary horror games on Roblox still or at the very least good ones, the game gives you a perspective of how Jim feels, he’s afraid of the unknown and seems to have some sort of paranoia, another comment suggests that he has paranoid schizophrenia and would rather take his own life then let it be taken by whatever was out there.
I love this game, it's simple, but it shows a fear almost everyone has today. With all information at our fingertips, a lot of people become scared for their own safety, knowing what's happening around them ALL THE TIME. He also became a shopaholic, buying everything he could get his hands on, without much control. That happens to a lot of people when they discover online shopping. I believe that at the end he took his own life, not feeling safe in life anymore. He could have developed schizophrenia, like some people theorize, but I like to believe he was driven to severe anxiety and depression from being paranoid for so long, he sadly, lost the meaning of his life.
My best theory is that the chemical spill caused humans to turn into monsters or zombies, which is what therefore caused the disappearances. I’m definitely on Jim’s side if there is a zombie apocalypse. I’d kms as well
I love these kind of games. Physcological horror is one of those things where you can't just re-play a few times and get used to. You always find something spooky. Edit: I get it. The word I used isn't correct. Jesus. What I was trying to refer to is there is no enemy. Your mind is your enemy as that's where the fear is coming from. The game uses noises like doors opening to mess with your mind and make you feel fear.
i think the main thing that makes this scary is how confused the game makes you. you are constantly wondering, “is there something there? where is he? is he in here?” and stuff like that. its the perfect example that shows you that you dont need a ton of experience to make a game, and in this game, a horror game.
I think this is about where Jim gets a computer and starts to see news articles about the disappearances and gets worried which is why we have that night time sequence, but after so many of the articles his fear peaks with him boarding his house up and buying a gun and enda up killing himself I guess from paranoia, that's what I think anyways

I think the chemical spill leaked into the water supply, which caused the townsfolk to hallucinate that there was a 'threat' in their town. That's my theory anyway. Also, if anyone is wondering what the newspaper articles translate to (They are all the exact same text), here's a rough translation from Latin to English (I have only listed the sentences that actually make sense. Quite a few are just gibberish, so I haven't included them here): Newspaper 1: Let the pain itself be a weapon, it will be followed by an increase. For this reason, wisdom and poison will be pursued. The pillow of the boat is a pain, nor a pillow worthy of disgrace. For the author of the arrows, the fear of anxiety is sad. It is a great sadness and fear of the employee.

What I was thinking is that Jim had schizophrenia, how it works is that it makes it so you don't know what the difference of fiction and reality, so what Jim in this situation was having, he believed someone was after him. So to get rid of his schizophrenia, he shoots himself. Sad theory, but very much possible

So the items you get in the beginning of the game are actually old items that you could buy and interact with if places allowed it. The map is also the first ever default house, and the images in the newspaper are also like the oldest things. It's all a nostalgia trip with horror in it.
fun fact: the scary part of a horror game isn’t the monsters. It’s the fear of the monsters. This game clearly shows that. Jim was so scared of being tortured, or kidnapped by something, he committed. Hoping everything would be better in the sky. The quote “”I feel safe again.”” shows that he, or Jim, was scared of something.
jim's computer is quite an interesting game. my theory is that jim bought his computer, started checking out the internet, buying things, however in the news it's saying things like "serial disappearances in robloxia!" making jim scared that he'll be the next disappearance. in his state of paranoia, and someone on the internet strengthening that paranoia, he checks the closets, and his mind plays tricks on him, thus the scratching at the door, and why it suddenly opens and closes. because of these two factors, the news and a person on the internet making jim paranoid, he fortifies his home and buys a gun for self-defense. in the ending he's prepared for an invasion (which might just be his mind playing tricks again), however he's in such a panic that he decides to take the easy way out. all in all, he gets a computer, becomes paranoid by the news and someone on the internet, then dies in a state of panic.
The TV turned on. He was supposed to be quiet. It heard him and so it went to his house. I also think Jim would prefer to die rather than become a disappearance. There's no way that from the disappearances literally across the country Jim is the singular man who manages to avoid them. TV was just bad timing.
the person from the chat may actually rather instead be schizophrenia, the reason to why i think that is that the fact you only see the 2 messages after 3 days and then the second message comes in the 4th day, but if you see the first one you get says "prepare" and the second is "dont move and dont make a single sound" the second is more terrifying than the first and it may be for schizophrenia being stronger, and you can see in day 3 he would develop schizophrenia due to the tv and other things, and besides all the fear and anxiety he gets from the previous days were the starting points for him developing it.
I can relate to Jim. in the night I don't feel safe, I always think there is something in the closets or under the bed, but it's just extreme paranoia. I know there isn't anything there, but I always feel that I need to check. It makes me go crazy. The subtle noises in the night are enough to get me like that, and I can't stop. I can't stop feeling like there is someone or something behind me every second of the night.

There's another game very similar to this one, although its much harder and kind of annoying if you can't understand what to do. It's kinda like man from the window on steroids, and it's called 'hide and seek with billy'. Also I love your videos, you just always seem to be in a very good mood and its nice to see some positivity anywhere online really.
"The Severance" is another Roblox psychological horror game, and It is amazing, unfortunately it doesn't get that much recognition though.. It's a very good horror experience, I figured Ryan should play it.
The items from the first things you can buy are from old roblox, I think they're just there for the nostalgia. The gravity coil makes you jump higher and have more hang time. Have you tried looking over the edge fo the map?
This is my theory of this game: At the start of this game, Jim is excited to finally get his computer. He looks at his computer, checking the news. The first day is normal, and nothing out of the ordinary happens. There is not much speculation, however, on why Jim checks his closet during the first night, but I like to think Jim is paranoid about something entering his house and his paranoia gets the best of him by waking him up in the middle of the night. During Day 2, Jim checks the news and finds out about sudden disappearances in his town. He buys a paintball gun, and it looks to be the first of many available things used for self-defense. At night 2, Jim's paranoia gets the best of him and wakes him up again, but this time, to a faint scratching sound. During the next day or two, he buys more things for self-defense, hearing about more news of disappearances. During the night, Jim sees his TV and computer (although the computer may just turn on automatically due to messages of any kind) turn on by themselves, and the next one, the door opens by itself. At the last night, Jim sees the Military Alert Broadcast, and due to the message an anonymous person sent to him saying "Don't make any sound," his mind starts playing tricks on him, evidently with multiple sounds that sound like something is trying to break in. In the end, his brain got the better of him, and Jim starts panicking with a gun in his hand. Thinking there is a monster and that there is no other way, or else he fears he would be tortured, Jim tries the easy way out, and well, you can see from the video the "easy way out." The moral lesson of this game (at least that's I would think of): The brain can play all sorts of tricks on you when you have paranoia and anxiety. Get rid of those, before they get rid of YOU.
I think its about suicside . Jim is just alone . No one is close . And no one is here but just his computer to talk to ppl when goes to chat no one is there . He wants to be happy but he just wants to sleep forever

I get major red death vibes from this minus you know, the prince and his nobles. It’s Jim being secluded. His only companions are the news articles and the chat while he idles his days away with the shop’s items. He’s become paranoid during his seclusion and the night brings a mysterious feeling that he has to check and make sure no one is there to hurt him. When the Red Death is upon him, rather than let it take him, Jim takes himself out. Scene end.
4:25, so ryan, if you dint know, the trowel, the superball, the paintball gun, and the slingshot are three of the basic used roblox items used in roblox combat games at the time when roblox wasnt so modern. the trowel is used to create walls in order to defend yourself and use it as a shield to hide behidn when other players are throwing stuff at you or shooting rockets
To those who don't know why the end is disturbing, it's because the sound from the TV is actually the End of The World alarm for Malaysia, which has no natural disasters. Which means that something apocalyptic already happened that's killing everyone in the outside world.
My theory is that the chemical spill created one or more "creatures" that began killing people, and Jim would have survived if the TV didn't turn on and alert the creature outside.
That is actually the USA's EAS alarm,Malaysia is kinda different (It's more high pitched if I'm not wrong),that could have been issued because of the Martial Law,telling everyone to stay home like in the Robloxia Times,the disappearances could've been people hallucinating from paranoia and doing the same as Jim,however going to an unknown location before or after doing such acts.
My theory is that in the game you know it talked about the chemical spillings that happened right. that probably gave Jim a disease that caused him to have hallucinations about there being someone stalking him, which soon caused him to oof himself on purpose. that could also explain why other people were talked about in the news about being found de@d.
This game is one of the smartest horror games in the platform . As you can see the game gives you so much information and hints that theres really something gonna happen but you dont even know what it is or when it will happen , theres a health bar . And med cits , why? , every day someone is missing .. who? And then the stranger that tells you to prepare . What? This is why the game gets you .

Weird that this game horror has just a weird anxiety even tho theres no monsters...kids like monsters and ruin mascot horror but when a horror is having no monsters...you are truly scared feeling like something is gonna jump on you...Jim (The guy who gets his computer in box) couldn't handel this so he basicaly shot himself. My theory is that the black icon or figure represents help. It tells you to keep quiet to not alert the monster, and to prepare for a lockdown. And the handgun was covered in black because it represented help. If you were in your house and there was a monster that not even the military could stop, what would you do? In addition, he didn’t know where the missing people went. Therefore, he chose to end it quick, instead of the possible torture that the monster could have put him in.

I have 2 theories on the game 1. Jim was slowly losing sanity and was going crazy because of the chemicals from the refinery incident and all the missing people making him eventually not feel safe and take himself out because he though something bad was there but there was nothing. 2. In day 5 the military was at Jims door or coming to get him and everyone else in the town to a safe bunker (That is why there was a warning in the tv on day 5) but all the chemicals and the paranoia that Jim had he couldnt take it anymore and was so scared he couldnt control himself and ended up taking his life.
on the topic of Roblox Horror games i recently found a roblox Horror game called Minutes remain its a completely random events kinda game where you gotta find 3 keys to win but you gotta survive the random events its kinda spooky and fun lol
I love this game so much, I'm so sad that I had the experience somewhat spoiled for me due to watching it on another youtubers video but this tension that the game builds is great. I love the dark and creepy atmosphere; it sounds like something that I'd like to sleep too.

Hey Ryan, I found a good horror game on Newgrounds a few Month's back called Floe , It's starts off with you and your co-pilot taking a scan of a newly discovered ocean planet but as you get deeper things turn hostile and creepier as you delve deeper which ends with a truly off-putting third act that can really cranks up the mystery. If you play it I hope you like it!
My theory on this game is that, You know how in the beginning. The news showed that a chemical refinery recently opened? Well, I think that Jim may have lived nearby that chemical refinery. The chemicals in the refinery got exposed to him and caused him to have intense hallucinations. These hallucinations caused Jim to kill himself, due to thinking he was in heavy danger.

In this game, It's a psychological horror. TLDR: This game is phenominal, giving many news articles to make the character paranoid enough to buy a gun on the last night, pointing at the door until he realizes, It's better to die by his own terms then from the monster that killed the people before him, Making him shoot himself to "Escape" This paranormal entity. This game messes with your brain to be afraid of something that doesn't exist. It tampers with the nostalgia of the old Roblox games to enhance this feeling of fear. In early nights, after he checks the closets, he'll say "I Feel safe now." But on later nights he stops saying it because he can't pass it off as just being "Fine." This game creates fake noises/Hallucinations (That's what I think it is at least) to make it seem like there's a monster. In the late days, when you wake up at night, it says "Someone is in my house" And then doesn't appear. This creates an unsettling feeling during the night, as well as the tv abruptly turning on. This game is honestly amazing and has an amazing story. On the final night, It makes you hold the gun out of your own will and make JIM do the action instead of you controlling him. It gives you a helpless feeling, trying to make him stop and put it away, as he starts shaking and observes the gun and he shoots at himself, to "Escape" from the monster by his own will so then he won't go through the suffering of the monster tearing him apart. A comment I went through while blindly reading the comments said "He's probably Schizophrenic", And I believe that also may be a possibility, along with being paranoid. This could make sense, because The stories on the computer may have made Jim paranoid so then he'd do mindless actions, experience hallucinations, fake noises, and whatnot. This game seriously has many ways to interpret the story. This game is unique because it doesn't have any monsters, or even jumpscares to make it scary. It uses the user to make themselves create the unsettling experience. Another detail which makes it all the better is that there's a health bar on the right, which makes it even more like there's something to be afraid of. Unlike any other games, there's no actual creatures to be frightened. Instead, the horror subgenre is quite different than most others, which is psychological horror, and I love that kind of horror.
What I'm thinking is that Jim, along with the other residents of the town, were exposed to the chemicals from the spill. This caused them to hallucinate, in Jim's case all he hallucinated were sounds, he never saw anything because there was nothing in the first place. The thought of there being something, that could kill him any second, was enough to push him over the edge.
Just off the first second, the classic styled Robloxian house gave me so much nostalgia. The games are so complicated nowadays, which isn't bad but you know

Jim feels reading the news every morning as well as the loneliness as he just wakes up, buys things, and goes to sleep again. The person messaging him was probably just Jim himself writing a checklist, but he sees it as someone else as nobody really sees their own problems, they just think it's normal.

Time to *spill the beans* of the lore! 1. The computer. The computer is simple. It has a news app, a store, and a chat. The news showed that there was a chemical refinery, people missing because of the refinery incident, little did jim (the player) knew that he will be one of the victims. 2. The helicopter. Maybe it was sent and it had to do with the mayor declaringmartial war. But the helicopter passed by at jim’s house before the declaration.or maybe something much different. (Explanation at 10 likes) 3. The chemical refinery Maybe jim lived near the refinery. And the news said there was a chemical spill, So according to the clues, The victims (Including Jim or the player) was exposed to the chemical spill. Thus making them have heavy hallucinations. 4. Censored item named “...” It is a pistol. Jim used it to end the pain... 5. The story Jim was a normal person that libed in robloxia. According to the written info above he lived near a chemical refinery. At first he bought a computer. He explored the internet. Sometimes when he slep he felt in danger. He would wake up tocheck. Days started getting worse. The sky became red. The mayor declared martial war. And there was an unknown account warning him. At his last night. His windows were barricaded. He felt very unsafe. So he took the gun and decided to end the pain. He loaded the gun, aimed it at himself, e n d. o f. s t o r y.
Kinda poetic honestly with how Ryan said "The game is less horror and moreso just tension". Cause yeah, tension kept building up until character couldn't handle it, it seems. It's like a psychological horror for the character you play as much as it is for the player, unlike games like Silent Hill where your character can handle it if the player can.
After thinking about how there was never a weird entity that you see, what if there was no monster and Jim's computer just had fake news so make him scared and think that something was coming after him but really he just got scared for no reason and oof himself because the thing that he thought was real just made him go insane.
some information for you you probably wont see this this game is actually a great adaptation of paranoia that leads to anxiety and stress 24/7. the littlest things that happen make you terrified. the news and other things increase this anxiety, and my theory is that it's all in his head (maybe having schizophrenia or something similar to it). another thing that helps support my theory is when jim says "there is someone inside my house" when it turns out there isn't, it's all about anxiety. at the end, the black square turns into a gun which jim uses to kill himself. i think the black square symbolizes something like mental health going down the drain and anxiety, so you're blind to what's really happening around you (hence why you don't know it's a gun at first). tl;dr the game is about paranoia and anxiety and stress, which eventually leads to suicide from fear and how you are paranoid about every little thing

the idea of a horror game where there is no jumpscares and your character slowly but surely goes insane is pretty unique in my opinion

I love this game, it's simple, but it shows a fear almost everyone has today. With all information at our fingertips, a lot of people become scared for their own safety, knowing what's happening around them ALL THE TIME. He also became a shopaholic, buying everything he could get his hands on, without much control. That happens to a lot of people when they discover online shopping.
I believe that at the end he took his own life, not feeling safe in life anymore. He could have developed schizophrenia, like some people theorize, but I like to believe he was driven to severe anxiety and depression from being paranoid for so long, he sadly, lost the meaning of his life.
My best theory is that the chemical spill caused humans to turn into monsters or zombies, which is what therefore caused the disappearances. I’m definitely on Jim’s side if there is a zombie apocalypse. I’d kms as well

I love these kind of games. Physcological horror is one of those things where you can't just re-play a few times and get used to. You always find something spooky.
Edit: I get it. The word I used isn't correct. Jesus. What I was trying to refer to is there is no enemy. Your mind is your enemy as that's where the fear is coming from. The game uses noises like doors opening to mess with your mind and make you feel fear.

i think the main thing that makes this scary is how confused the game makes you. you are constantly wondering, “is there something there? where is he? is he in here?” and stuff like that. its the perfect example that shows you that you dont need a ton of experience to make a game, and in this game, a horror game.

I think this is about where Jim gets a computer and starts to see news articles about the disappearances and gets worried which is why we have that night time sequence, but after so many of the articles his fear peaks with him boarding his house up and buying a gun and enda up killing himself I guess from paranoia, that's what I think anyways

I think the chemical spill leaked into the water supply, which caused the townsfolk to hallucinate that there was a 'threat' in their town. That's my theory anyway.

So the items you get in the beginning of the game are actually old items that you could buy and interact with if places allowed it. The map is also the first ever default house, and the images in the newspaper are also like the oldest things. It's all a nostalgia trip with horror in it.

jim's computer is quite an interesting game. my theory is that jim bought his computer, started checking out the internet, buying things, however in the news it's saying things like "serial disappearances in robloxia!" making jim scared that he'll be the next disappearance. in his state of paranoia, and someone on the internet strengthening that paranoia, he checks the closets, and his mind plays tricks on him, thus the scratching at the door, and why it suddenly opens and closes. because of these two factors, the news and a person on the internet making jim paranoid, he fortifies his home and buys a gun for self-defense. in the ending he's prepared for an invasion (which might just be his mind playing tricks again), however he's in such a panic that he decides to take the easy way out. all in all, he gets a computer, becomes paranoid by the news and someone on the internet, then dies in a state of panic.
The TV turned on. He was supposed to be quiet. It heard him and so it went to his house. I also think Jim would prefer to die rather than become a disappearance. There's no way that from the disappearances literally across the country Jim is the singular man who manages to avoid them. TV was just bad timing.
the person from the chat may actually rather instead be schizophrenia, the reason to why i think that is that the fact you only see the 2 messages after 3 days and then the second message comes in the 4th day, but if you see the first one you get says "prepare" and the second is "dont move and dont make a single sound" the second is more terrifying than the first and it may be for schizophrenia being stronger, and you can see in day 3 he would develop schizophrenia due to the tv and other things, and besides all the fear and anxiety he gets from the previous days were the starting points for him developing it.

I can relate to Jim. in the night I don't feel safe, I always think there is something in the closets or under the bed, but it's just extreme paranoia. I know there isn't anything there, but I always feel that I need to check. It makes me go crazy.

There's another game very similar to this one, although its much harder and kind of annoying if you can't understand what to do. It's kinda like man from the window on steroids, and it's called 'hide and seek with billy'.

"The Severance" is another Roblox psychological horror game, and It is amazing, unfortunately it doesn't get that much recognition though.. It's a very good horror experience, I figured Ryan should play it.

This horror game is extremely well made! The switch from a classic roblox game to the dark first person is really clever!
At first glance, it's not that scary, but when going further in, it's just terrifying. That's what I love about it.
This is my theory of this game: At the start of this game, Jim is excited to finally get his computer. He looks at his computer, checking the news. The first day is normal, and nothing out of the ordinary happens. There is not much speculation, however, on why Jim checks his closet during the first night, but I like to think Jim is paranoid about something entering his house and his paranoia gets the best of him by waking him up in the middle of the night. During Day 2, Jim checks the news and finds out about sudden disappearances in his town. He buys a paintball gun, and it looks to be the first of many available things used for self-defense. At night 2, Jim's paranoia gets the best of him and wakes him up again, but this time, to a faint scratching sound. During the next day or two, he buys more things for self-defense, hearing about more news of disappearances. During the night, Jim sees his TV and computer (although the computer may just turn on automatically due to messages of any kind) turn on by themselves, and the next one, the door opens by itself. At the last night, Jim sees the Military Alert Broadcast, and due to the message an anonymous person sent to him saying "Don't make any sound," his mind starts playing tricks on him, evidently with multiple sounds that sound like something is trying to break in. In the end, his brain got the better of him, and Jim starts panicking with a gun in his hand. Thinking there is a monster and that there is no other way, or else he fears he would be tortured, Jim tries the easy way out, and well, you can see from the video the "easy way out."
The moral lesson of this game (at least that's I would think of): The brain can play all sorts of tricks on you when you have paranoia and anxiety. Get rid of those, before they get rid of YOU.

It’s more *creepy* than you think it *is.* just feel that atmosphere in this *horror* game. This is just a *masterpeice* like those other *horror* games, I *LOVE* it! It’s too unique to be. There isn’t a monster, it’s just tricking you into thinking there is, also, that final part is great! The idea of Jim shooting himself knowing he can’t survive this anymore is a masterpiece. To those who don't know why the end is disturbing, it's because the sound from the TV is actually the End of The World alarm for Malaysia, which has no natural disasters. Which means that something apocalyptic already happened that's killing everyone in the outside world.

That is actually the USA's EAS alarm,Malaysia is kinda different (It's more high pitched if I'm not wrong),that could have been issued because of the Martial Law,telling everyone to stay home like in the Robloxia Times,the disappearances could've been people hallucinating from paranoia and doing the same as Jim,however going to an unknown location before or after doing such acts.
My theory is that in the game you know it talked about the chemical spillings that happened right. that probably gave Jim a disease that caused him to have hallucinations about there being someone stalking him, which soon caused him to oof himself on purpose. that could also explain why other people were talked about in the news about being found de@d.

My theory is that the black icon or figure represents help. It tells you to keep quiet to not alert the monster, and to prepare for a lockdown. And the handgun was covered in black because it represented help. If you were in your house and there was a monster that not even the military could stop, what would you do? In addition, he didn’t know where the missing people went. Therefore, he chose to end it quick, instead of the possible torture that the monster could have put him in.

I have 2 theories on the game
1. Jim was slowly losing sanity and was going crazy because of the chemicals from the refinery incident and all the missing people making him eventually not feel safe and take himself out because he though something bad was there but there was nothing.
2. In day 5 the military was at Jims door or coming to get him and everyone else in the town to a safe bunker (That is why there was a warning in the tv on day 5) but all the chemicals and the paranoia that Jim had he couldnt take it anymore and was so scared he couldnt control himself and ended up taking his life.

Hey Ryan, I found a good horror game on Newgrounds a few Month's back called Floe , It's starts off with you and your co-pilot taking a scan of a newly discovered ocean planet but as you get deeper things turn hostile and creepier as you delve deeper which ends with a truly off-putting third act that can really cranks up the mystery. In this game, It's a psychological horror.
TLDR: This game is phenominal, giving many news articles to make the character paranoid enough to buy a gun on the last night, pointing at the door until he realizes, It's better to die by his own terms then from the monster that killed the people before him, Making him shoot himself to "Escape" This paranormal entity.
This game messes with your brain to be afraid of something that doesn't exist.
It tampers with the nostalgia of the old Roblox games to enhance this feeling of fear.
In early nights, after he checks the closets, he'll say "I Feel safe now." But on later nights he stops saying it because he can't pass it off as just being "Fine."
This game creates fake noises/Hallucinations (That's what I think it is at least) to make it seem like there's a monster.
In the late days, when you wake up at night, it says "Someone is in my house" And then doesn't appear. This creates an unsettling feeling during the night, as well as the tv abruptly turning on.
This game is honestly amazing and has an amazing story. On the final night, It makes you hold the gun out of your own will and make JIM do the action instead of you controlling him.
It gives you a helpless feeling, trying to make him stop and put it away, as he starts shaking and observes the gun and he shoots at himself, to "Escape" from the monster by his own will so then he won't go through the suffering of the monster tearing him apart.
A comment I went through while blindly reading the comments said "He's probably Schizophrenic", And I believe that also may be a possibility, along with being paranoid.
This could make sense, because The stories on the computer may have made Jim paranoid so then he'd do mindless actions, experience hallucinations, fake noises, and whatnot. This game seriously has many ways to interpret the story. This game is unique because it doesn't have any monsters, or even jumpscares to make it scary. It uses the user to make themselves create the unsettling experience. Another detail which makes it all the better is that there's a health bar on the right, which makes it even more like there's something to be afraid of.
Anyway, If you actually read this far, I am starting to have faith in people's attention span in this new generation.

Unlike any other games, there's no actual creatures to be frightened. Instead, the horror subgenre is quite different than most others, which is psychological horror, and I love that kind of horror.

What I'm thinking is that Jim, along with the other residents of the town, were exposed to the chemicals from the spill. This caused them to hallucinate, in Jim's case all he hallucinated were sounds, he never saw anything because there was nothing in the first place. The thought of there being something, that could kill him any second, was enough to push him over the edge.

Maybe jim lived near the refinery. And the news said there was a chemical spill, So according to the clues, The victims (Including Jim or the player) was exposed to the chemical spill. Thus making them have heavy hallucinations.

Kinda poetic honestly with how Ryan said "The game is less horror and moreso just tension". Cause yeah, tension kept building up until character couldn't handle it, it seems.
It's like a psychological horror for the character you play as much as it is for the player, unlike games like Silent Hill where your character can handle it if the player can.

After thinking about how there was never a weird entity that you see, what if there was no monster and Jim's computer just had fake news so make him scared and think that something was coming after him but really he just got scared for no reason and oof himself because the thing that he thought was real just made him go insane.

this game is actually a great adaptation of paranoia that leads to anxiety and stress 24/7. the littlest things that happen make you terrified. the news and other things increase this anxiety, and my theory is that it's all in his head (maybe having schizophrenia or something similar to it). another thing that helps support my theory is when jim says "there is someone inside my house" when it turns out there isn't, it's all about anxiety. at the end, the black square turns into a gun which jim uses to kill himself. i think the black square symbolizes something like mental health going down the drain and anxiety, so you're blind to what's really happening around you (hence why you don't know it's a gun at first).
tl;dr the game is about paranoia and anxiety and stress, which eventually leads to suicide from fear and how you are paranoid about every little thing
