Another good point about what you made, someone I went out with for EMA weather Training got his antennae ripped off from our truck by someone who hated cops (even though we’re just Emergency Management “officers”) definitely keep safe.
Wow that nuts. Glad we don't have too many people like that over here
We used to have an operating position at our 911 center. Being able to use it though has been pretty much discontinued with post 9/11 security being tightened and the covid scare.
yeah access to the radio we have at 911 is extremely restricted.
I lead our storm spotting effort where i live. kind of jumped into it, no one seems to want to do it. Am trying to get others interested in running nets so I can go out in the field. I am looking at the ht antenna you have. waiting for some extra $. Good luck.
oh I hear the no one wants to do it. here we have volunteers that don't want to do training and don't want to take direction, because they are only volunteers. That kind of mentality would get a lot of people killed around us because 95% of the fire and ems teams in the state are volunteers.
Nice load out Ben, I like that clip board 👍
Thanks Ape. Walmart has the goods sometimes.
I love this video! The repeater I use is also used for ARES, which is especially useful for winter weather since the county I live in likes when we report crashes and areas that need plowing. Along with tornadoes and river flooding, and fire danger stuff.
Keep up the good work,
As always, i love the videos!
Thanks for watching. Glad you enjoyed the videos. If you have any topic suggestions let me know.
Interesting to hear the difference between spotting and chasing.
Nice video Ben.
Thank you Mike, and thanks for watching.
Love the emcomm videos….not enough of them out there quite frankly in the ham radio community. Keep ‘em coming brother!
Will do! Thanks for watching. More will be coming in the future.
What antenna is that on your go bag radio?
thats the Abbree 19inch antenna. I have since switched radios and antennas. Now running an Anytone 878 UVII Plus with a Single Stick Glow in the Dark antenna.
@@K0BJJ Cool. I'm thinking about taking the training to become a storm spotter and a ham radio operator here in my county. I'm on a tight budget, so I'm thinking a portable radio would be the better option versus a dedicated base station.
@@lonewolf9390 That's awesome. I would like to help you with all of that as well as introduce you some other helpful hams. If your are on discord check out discord.gg/eSZ7QYczrs . This should take you to the Toads Discord. you'll find me on there and we can talk about what you want to do. Also there are a lot of of knowledgeable people on there that can help you with radio related questions as well. Might be easier than chatting over comments on a video lol
@@K0BJJ Awesome. I'll have to remember that then.
