I think Wesker's killrate went down a lot because of a combination of buffed vaults and the changes to his windowgrab making it so that instead of him consistently grabbing you as you vault, forcing you next to him, and having a much shorter distance post-grab, either he doesn't quite make it and deals no damage, or buttslaps you after you vault and so you make the vault distance + full run distance. It doesn't seem like a lot, but together, that could add a LOT of extra chase time which would reflect a lower kill rate.

I think Spirit having a lower killrate than Nurse honestly makes sense. It seems simpler to follow and listen for the survivors in theory, but I think Spirit's power has a lot more drawbacks than Nurse's. The speed without addons feels rather underwhelming, and paired with a high recharge time your power's strength and accessibility are just so much lower than that of Nurse's. Additionally, it can be hard to pinpoint EXACTLY where survivors are just via sounds, whereas with Nurse simply one pretty-okay blink can put you in a position where you have an easy enough second blink to secure a hit. There's a few problems I have with nightlight's stats: Newer players aren't gonna be the ones submitting their scores to the site. You're generally only gonna see more experienced players go out of their way to submit their stats, and even those that know about it as well. Not to say it's a huge problem, but it definitely doesn't paint a whole picture of the game. That's why we see killers like legion have a less than average kill rate, because the people giving nightlight their end-game screens are the ones that know how to counter him on the survivor side.
The inflation of winrates can also be a problem with community polled things. Killer mains might only submit the matches they do super well in. That's generally averaged out but it can create outliers when dealing with less played killers, such as hag.
It's just a nitpick I have with a service like nightlight. I still submit all my stats to the site gladly, regardless of how the match plays out. The only thing that gets frustrating is when I get tunneled out super early on survivor, I have to either A) wait for the killer to slowly kill the other 3 players because they're all hiding and playing super safe or B) wait for the survivors to eventually just give up/win somehow. I think it'd be great of BHVR to give quarterly updates on stats, because I do like stats and I think that type of thing would also help BHVR since then the community could chime in more with why stats line up the way they do (e.g. Nurse)

One very common reason for a lot of the kill rates that wasn't mentioned in the video or in the comments I've looked through is simply the pick rate.
When I play Twins, there's a very good chance the survivors have next to no experience how to play against me. Even on high-ish MMR it is a common occurrence that some don't kick Victor once through the entire game. No wonder they're getting stomped then.
To that adds that the only people who are ever playing those low pick rate killers are likely those who also main them, or at least have a good bit of experience. Otherwise you'll play them for one or two games, think they're too hard or weird or whatever and play something else.
Which brings us to the high pick rate killers. Nearly everyone will try out Wesker at some point or play him on and off, which means people with less experience on the killer play those games, which drags the kill rate down.
Of course there are some pretty significant deviations from that, otherwise kill rate and pick rate would just be a reverse of each other. But that's when you can really make a note of the balance. Nearly no one that plays Singularity isn't maining them, yet their kill rate is very low, really hinting that they are just a bad killer at the moment.

as for freddy having high killrate, exact same reason, he may not have a strong power etc, but pallet freddy is surprisingly strong in soloQ as everyone and their claudette camp pallets to try and stun me but drean pallet value n all that. most of killer that are low are easy to counter and produce low reward for playing them. its weird how scott talks about "hard to counter" killers having high kill-rates... but does not match how braindead singularities emps are towards countering him. this is case for all low-kill rate killers. Pinhead? do box. Knight? Hold-w away from green circles. Billy? Disrespect all chainsaws curves and loop. If you think he is going to curve, run outwards. Trickster, Strafe and use high-walls. Huntress, Strafe and use high-walls. Nemesis. Rush-gens, abuse vaccines for health-states. You can see how simple these killer are to play against. The effort for killer to counter these strategies is 3X skill-level compare to brain power required for survivor to use them. It is almost impossible to mess up these strategies as survivor. There is like almost 0 ways to mess up singularity EMP. It is like free-counter-play for 0 opportunity cost.. you cannot mess up nemesis vaccines. Wesker's Kill-rate is lower because they nerfed his item infection by allowing survivors to run killer-items and regular items. So his 4vs1 is worse. This is also why Pinhead has lower kill-rate. you can hold box and do generators while carrying med-kit. Most of these stats are always center around bad-killers vs bad survivors. so which ever side plays more bad dictates kill-rate.

Wesker's stats are likely that a LOT more people got the wesker dlc, and many of the better players who played wesker moved on to other killers after he was no longer the "New" killer. Resulting in the general killer playerbase getting him. There's also the many nerfs to killer which, with being the most popular killer, result in a lower kill rate overall since many average killers would lose to the current meta of buckle up for the people or made for this hope.
This might also be tied to Wesker being weak at loops that are oddly shaped and cant be countered by his dash. So certain unsafe loops that are made safe with made for this make him struggle more as they can just go to the loops he isn't good on.
Also, pinhead's issue is that he is still an M1 killer. M1 killers are currently struggling, even Oni is dealing with this to some degree atm.
Huntress, Trickster and Nem all have issues with it as well. Nem due to the 3 hit thing. Huntress and Trickster because only 4.4
Singularity makes sense. EMPs are very strong and it can be horrendously annoying to have extended loops where people keep popping max distance emps on your chase, or getting ruined by bad map terrain. Also made for this and resil and the bugged vaults makes it awful to deal with current survs atm.

wraith used to be one of the worst killers when I played. It makes me happy seeing how much better he's gotten over the years

Pick rate plays a huge part. Unpopular killers are mostly it’s played by people who one trick that killer, so it skews higher since there are less bad players playing them. Likewise top tier killers get a ton of players who play because they heard they were good so more bad players play them.
Also I think you underrate both how hard listening is for most players and the knowledge required for good hag plays; hag is not easy to play.

I think singularity suffers from survivor counterplay being much too easy against him, which raises his skill floor significantly. Ive found it takes a lot of work to tag someone and have it stick, and using his ability in chase feels nigh impossible, and usually the survivor just has an EMP. why would i go through yhe yrouble of attempting to goop a survivor if theyre instantly gonna emp it?

I used to play Freddy a lot, so at least in my experience newer players would panic when hitting dream snares and underestimate the range of his lunge because of how short he looks.
That and they would panic when you teleport to their gen so faking a TP everytime worked as amazing slowdown.
The moment you faced a team that new what they were doing you just lost.

remember, huntress spirit pinhead and probably some other killers are way harder to play on console, which is a sizeable portion of the playerbase

Skull Merchant being on top doesn't surprise me in the least. I'm actually surprised her killrate isn't even higher though the addition of bots to replace DC survs might actually be lowering it :D 42% of matches ending in 4K really does say a lot.
I don't even play Huntress but I'm going to bet she has dropped a bit due to MFT. Sure she has hatchets which can invalidate it in some situations but against an MFT survivor, it takes her >40% longer to close distance so that she can even get to a place where she can line up a shot. And if it's a loop she can't aim over, it takes her even longer than before to brute force it. Even a crappy rock loop can defeat a Huntress, I feel bad juicing them there. Also, I expect that the presence/absence of MFT could screw with the muscle memory of even good Huntresses.
I'm also surprised Spirit isn't higher. Let's be honest, she doesn't require much skill to do well with, she requires a headset and functioning ears. Yeah, she might have a higher skill ceiling after that but she's not exactly Billy or Blight.
I'm slightly surprised Artist isn't higher. She definitely has a very high skill ceiling but it's simple enough to use her at basic loops to force the survivor into a lose-lose, even if you're not good with her. I guess some inexperienced players might be going for more ambitious plays and failing, IDK.
I'd argue that Wraith actually isn't entirely trivial to counterplay since bad survivors aren't good at paying attention for the first hit and will then panic for the second and feed him finite pallets and create dead zones in situations when they should instead be abusing nearby windows which can really punish Wraith if he can't lunge around them. And newer players won't know the Wraith counterplay of continuously vaulting to waste his time and force him to uncloak. I guess they also won't be familiar enough with his addons to know what kind of Wraith they're dealing with (chase vs hit-and-run, fast uncloak vs eats-pallets-for-breakfast). IDK, Wraith is in a good place nowadays and even a bad Wraith will still get an annoying amount of slowdown by simply equipping Sloppy and zooming around the map whacking people faster than they can heal. I actually think he's low A tier while being easy to play so his killrate doesn't surprise me.

I think these kill rates are incomplete. I rarely see or have the experience that match these kill rates. I wish Bhvr would just release kill rates and perk use/success rates.
What do they lose doing this? And if they make seemingly nonsense patches those values would likely help the community understand and not complain.

Keep in mind, these stats are based on all skill levels and from all types of players. There are a lot of low level console killers, the vast majority of the player base (over 60%) is noob soloq players, and they don’t want to make changes that affect the vast majority of players. This is actually often what we see from the official stats they release every once in a few blue moons.

There's no way the vast majority are brand new solo q players. That's just not possible for a game like this that's this fucking old
