+ABCD Yazyk I'm not trying to speak for Carlin since he's no longer around, but I personally think he would have rejected such a notion. I see this "not a comedian, a philosopher" thing thrown around a lot. He wasn't a pretentious type and he didn't like pretentious language. I think he was very much a comedian and the fact you see him as more than that isn't a sign that he wasn't a comedian, but it's more a sign that he elevated the art to another level. So really he was just a rare one, if anything he was the sort of comedian we need more of. And comedy ranges a lot, you can have fart jokes to real social commentary and philosophical aspects, that's what makes it so great.

I'm 67...I remember George before he went counterculture. I remember his hippy dippy weatherman and his DJ routines from the Ed Sullivan Show. As an anti-war teen in the 60s, I was drawn to everything anti-establishment and there was George to lead the way. He WAS a teacher. He was my guru. I love to watch reaction videos of his "social commentary" by young people. They relate because we're still facing the same problems. Maybe George can help them develop critical thinking skills and to question everything.

Since 1950 we had the Korean and Vietnam wars (they are not brown but white skinned), Cuba, Croatia, Boznia and Herzegovina 3 different times, we sent some 400 soldiers to help put stop rioting in Macedonia, took part in the Albanian rebellion.
If its war releated, we like it...doesnt matter what their skin color is.

George's bits are relevant today because the core/driving force of what he's talking about is basically the same. Nothing has really changed -- what's the old saying? "The more things change the more they stay the same"? Also -- that '92 special was probably his best. I mean, they're all amazing but that was George at the height of his powers,...a perfectly honed and sharpened sword slicing through the bull shit and still making you laugh.

I honestly don't know why people stay on the phone with those kinds of calls. If I don't recognize the voice or what they are talking about it's "click" goodbye! In fact, I have a 3 second rule. If I answer the phone and it takes 3 seconds or more for the person to start talking, "click".

George Carlin recorded his last comedy special for hbo 2 days before 9/11. Hbo then refused to air it. That was probably a good call since the special was called, "I kinda like it when a lot of people die."
