Even more impressive was the standing shot with iron sights at 1400 or so yards. That's exceptional. This guy must have 20/30 vision to land shots like that with irons.
this distance... with an incredible grouping, you deserve touch the plate. I'm very happy for you two and never give up thanks for sharing this moment with us.
5k and missed by 5cm. That’s some fantastic shooting. I wish I could spend 30 seconds in your head to gain some of the knowledge you have learned over the years. Your abilities to read the wind and adjust to the conditions are incredible. This is my all time favorite channel on RUclips hands down. I love waking up to see a new video posted. I especially love the explanations you give and hearing the two of you talk between shots. I wish I had somewhere to shot over 1450 meters and the time to be able to do it. Even than my hit percentage is only 68% but thanks to your channel it is slowly increasing. Great job and please keep the videos coming.
I think there is a natural ability of something on par with astronaut level eyesight. My best friend has 20/30 vision and can spot game and shoot like nobodies business. Even with glasses I'm not close to what he can see. He's spitting road signs at better than a half mile. This guy must have the same type of vision to use iron sights at 1000+ yards
Hurling kinetic missiles at a target 5KM using ballistic trajectories really is an artform ! There are so many things to consider.. earth rotation, Coriolis effect, wind, temperature and air density change (traversing areas of shade and sunlight) - plus change in the barrel profile and harmonics between each shot due to wear induced from the previous shot.. It's amazing you guys manage to get THAT close to the target ! PS : On the penultimate shot - The spotter missed the impact at 7/8 O'clock 2 targets out.
totally agree. But think of one thing: Cirolis effect ( which is earth rotation) is a scam an long range shooting proves it!! We all learned that depending on the direction the coriolis effect must be taken into account since when the bullet leaves the barrel the earth rotatesaway under the bullet, assumed that you shoot to North and the earth rotates eastwards... Think of it.!!! I dont know where they shoot but it can easily be calculated. earth rotates eastwards between 900 to 1600km/hr... divide by 3.6 and you got it in meters per second. At this flying time of the bullet, how many kilometres does he have to shoot to the right of the target to hit it? Sooner or later the dumbest Human beeing will realize that the earth is not a spinning ball but a flat stationary disk....
awesome shooting...most of the ELD types that boast of shooting these distance are shooting at picnic table sized targets and you are shooting at a serving platter...well done to both of you and awaiting your eventual success
Yes, I commented on one of the other videos, that crack you hear about 8 or 9 seconds after the firing, is actually what they call sonic remnant from the bullet, as it slows, producing a 'tail cone' boom which you are hearing at the gun position. The fact that the boom reaches your ears at the firing position before you hear the shot on target, is simply because of the slower speed of sound to the supersonic speed of the projectile through most of its journey. The last mile or so it is subsonic. Cheers for that comment though, it's interesting to think about the sonic remnants of projectiles moving so close to the ground. Have a great day!
OMG that was so close, popcorn was ready and it was like watching a thriller movie where ever shot keep you on the edge of your seat, nice to see your in the zone and I think it was the first time I saw mark actually get excited about a shot lol, awesome drone footage as usual and keep up the good work i'm very confident that you will make it good job spotting there Sam.

Hey Mark and Sam, man that is some serious shooting matey 1/4 moa at that range, just freakin awesome, keep on striving ringing that gong is just around the corner.
I just got my 5k run under 20 min. After a haul like that and to think there are people with the skills to put a bullet on target at that incredible distance. Wow! Great shooting
Congratulations, guys! It was an amazing job in that distance. In this particular video, the shadows got in the way. But most of what I've seen, you assemble your equipment when the sun rising behind your back. So, the target is lit up from the front while you're still in the shades. That happens very early. It is still cold and a part from the gravity, relative humidity, mild temperature, and little wind at this time, plus the Coriolis effect interfere greatly with these great distances. So your channel should be called MarkandSam BeforeWork, because I don't think you work at night and you shoot at dawn. lol, lol, lol... Thank you very much for the inspiring videos, with beautiful scenery, discreet musical background, a rare integration of the couple and great results. Cheers!
I shot the SLR 7.62 back in the Army in 83. That was interesting with some Sargeant yelling at you. I would love to spend hours dialing it in and relaxing. Inspirational videos.
