I remember when MEOVV debut reaction video, Kaz was still confused about how much hate Teddy received because of his creativity in YG songs, now you are part of it. The amount of disbelief that Teddy could create anything other than Club Banger 🤣 Glad you got to see Teddy's Golden Era
I know Teddy is credited as one of a few producers in "It Hurts" but I think he's not credited as a song writer in that song so maybe that's where it went right (I am also not a huge fan of Teddy lol). I miss 2ne1 I hope they tour in the U.S. again in the near future bc they were fun to see live back in the day.
Its hurts is a very good song, especially because it was produced by swja, a great singer. When I heard her sing acapella in jaefriends, I liked it more than 2ne1, even though it was the first song that I really liked from the group. And also swja's voice is in the song "oohh" good reaction.
It still boils my blood that YG replaced 2NE1 with Blackpink at the heights of their career simply because he deemed them "ugly." Not only that, he admitted he didn't try to make Blackpink any different from 2NE1 other than visuals and dancing: Blackpink = similar to Blackjack (2NE1's fandom name) Rose's piercing voice = very similar to Bom Jisoo's deeper voice = very similar to Minzy Lisa's nasal voice = similar to Dara Jennie's rap = similar to CL 4 members, similar styles, identical formulas, etc. This isn't to diss Blackpink at all (they're talented af), but I think there's still people who resent Blackpink for the reason that they were blatantly a copy of 2NE1. Not only that, they blew up worldwide with very minimal effort after years of repeating the same generic Teddy formula and desperately targeting the Western market instead of just being authentic. Blackpink is a very, very corporate group if you examine their success. In that, I will forever respect 2NE1 as the best female Kpop group of all time. They were THE Mamamoo of 2nd gen Kpop for me in terms of female empowerment, vocals, charisma, group chemistry, and generally just really good songs. They broke barriers in Korea at the time because they weren't the typical pretty idols (I remember they were often mocked for it) and most Koreans still respect 2NE1 to this day for the impact that they made.
As a Blackjack since their debut, I don’t think they disbanded 2NE1 on account of being “ugly” and replaced them with BP because they’re pretty. It was a very turbulent time and without Bom’s scandal, they wouldn’t have been disbanded like that because they were bringing in the money. The reality is YG mishandled them and didn’t know how to solve that problem and that has nothing to do with BP. Them suddenly debuting BP was a poor attempt at assuaging the public and thought OG 2ne1 would just jump ship by branding them pretty 2ne1. TLDR; instead of fixing things, they just discarded 2NE1, considered it broken and said look, forget that, we have a shiny new thing.

I hope you also include the live performances. YG groups all use live bands at their concerts. The arrangements are different and more lively. Their music is made for parties and stadiums/arenas. I like hearing people from different backgrounds talking about my favorite artists (even more if they're professionals) expressing their flaws and even disliking it if necessary so I love this format, but to be honest I found the comments and tone of the left guy very disrespectful. It's pretty obvious that Teddy changed his production to a more commercial formula but saying he's producing without effort and taking the easy way (specially when 2NE1 was his flash point in sources and they shared creativity with producers of different genres around the world) just because you don't personally vibe with their style sounds so arrogant. The discontent with Teddy musical direction is understandable but it felt like he was just venting anger and shade instead of analyzing the song itself. Not everything has to be liked for you and you can appreciate art that doesn't match your taste just by how innovative they are or how consistent and well-layed they are. Also pop music intentions are to sound fun and comfortable with their changes and stems (Come Back Home was a perfect example for that) and this is a goal on itself than more perfectionist genres can't achieve the same way. If you're looking for the things that you exposed on the video in pop music you shouldn't be listening to it. Just say it's not made for you and that you didn't like it instead of accusing it of bad production. Personally, I love 2NE1 music and mainly the fact that they tried avant-garde in the pop scene. It's okay to feel that some songs sound old or ostentatious because of this purpose. I have to admit that I'm a sucker for electropop and old R&B so I'm really biased here but I also sometimes look for simplicity since I feel that k-pop is normally too musically flashy and overwhelming for me normally so I understand your perspective about some things. Most music critics at Billboard have never produced music, yet, they are still qualified to give their opinions. :) Anyone can learn and know about music... all you need is passion and incentive to learn. I personally enjoy Teddy's producing, but it's okay if it's not everyone's cup of tea. I think that, presuming he lost a bit of his "passion" can be a valid criticism, if that's what they feel, specially when comparing the Evolution of his work with 2NE1, Blackpink and then Meovv. :)

Actually, they both really enjoy EDM. On their very 1st live, people asked what genres they enjoyed listening to, I remember both including EDM in their top 5 genres. :) I think they are just picky in general, regardless of style.

The most active by far was CL (i'd recommend paradox, hwa, spicy) but also Bom had some bangers (spring, wanna go back or DoReMiFaSol), and definitely Minzy's "Superwoman" or "Fantabulous". Actually, they both really enjoy EDM. On their very 1st live, people asked what genres they enjoyed listening to, I remember both including EDM in their top 5 genres. :) I think they are just picky in general, regardless of style.

Why are you reacting only to ballads?
I chose these songs and the order for a purpose, because I wanted their first 2NE1 reaction to be like a "Story telling" experience. I left other songs for a Potential part 2. ❤❤

The most active by far was CL (i'd recommend paradox, hwa, spicy) but also Bom had some bangers (spring, wanna go back or DoReMiFaSol), and definitely Minzy's "Superwoman" or "Fantabulous". You'd get to see more of their personal styles, a tad more free, actual and with a extremely good quality! :P
