Good day mate i want you to know after seeing your video i was able to do the same thing to my gun. It is the older model ICMT. i was thinking my gas was outdated only a year past the expiration date. You my friend are a money saver i want to personally say thank you. wow i just noticed you made this video 10 years ago. thank God for all these RUclips videos that help all who are in need of these repairs. Thank you once again!
I replaced the two O-rings and cleaned my gun. It ran worse than before it started and saw your video. Took the gun apart and used aluminum foil tape, the stuff that is used on ductwork, and it works great now. Thank you.
Hi skinny have been having problems with my gun! Was just looking to buy a new one when I came across your fix! I wasn’t convinced but thought would give it a go. At first the fan wouldn’t shut off! But after a couple of goes I got the spacing right and now is as good as new. I had a can of beer n a cigarette while I was doing it!! Great tip kind regards from a fellow chippy in the U.K... Cheers.🍻...
great video skinny you must have Scottish ancestry .what a great help im a joiner myself.and you have saved me some money.thats a bottle of wine I owe you.thanks again from scotland
Good tip works a treat , reminds me of one of those early 90's cookery shows with the English chef Keith floyd where he slurps on his wine whilst cooking ..... Love it
Thanks mate - worked a treat... mine's been playing up for years (don't use it a lot,) tried everything: new O rings, piston ring, reed valve, new batteries, gas, but still only worked intermittently - could never depend on it. Didn't have any flashing, so cut a strip off a Fosters can. Knew there'd be a use found for it one day... (only kidding!) Thanks again.
Haha. Nice touch on the wine refill and "hold on" - to take a sip of wine and smoke a cigar! thanks for the video - I saw a reference to a mention of adding a tab - but didn't know where. If cleaning my gun doesn't work - this is step 2...
These things are engineered to fail through a frailty mechanism inbuilt ,so as the average builder will throw it away. They are a brilliant tool, but they are built to fail,so paslode can sell you a new tool, periodically. However a well maintained tool can earn you a fortune on pricework. They work if used every day,far better than intermittent use. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for the tip, now my flea-bay nailer works pretty good. I tried replacing the part but that just made it work for a little bit then quit again. I used aluminium foil duct tape, hope that helps someone.
Slick. Worked for me! I used a couple layers of foil tape I had from some duct work. Many thanks. the part is 404448 Lever/Head switch and is available through several suppliers - but this trick got me going again until I can replace it. Many thanks
Thanks for the pointer, I have a finishing gun and took it apart to check this out but it's a different set up for the switch. I managed to stick a piece of plastic packer to the part that hits the switch and now it fires every time.:)
great video cheers.....however i did the repair and it got worse fan would not come on. After filing about i found that the spring was pushing on the switch after releasing. pushed the spring back the other way and no it works great! go figure! everything in my life is backwards or upside down! cheers again though for pointing the right direction to look in.
No, you've got a different issue there. With the problem I addressed in the video the fan still works, but the gun won't fire when you pull the trigger. Check that the power connector to the fan is pushed in firmly and the spark plug cap is down firmly. You could also try another battery (some batteries look good, green light etc, but are actually dud.)
Update - fired over 1,000 51's, used two gas canisters and three battery recharges today - didn't miss a shot. Can't thank you enough - best it's been since I bought it nearly ten years ago.
great idea if it was built to work consistently. They are not reliable and very difficult for the average guy to trouble shoot and repair. Average repair cost at home depot works out to 1/3 to 1/2 the cost of a new one.I bought a new battery =waste of money.New fuel cell=waste of money. How do you know if its switch,o ring ,spark or something else when youre sitting by a wall you are trying to put together and the gun works then doesnt ,works then doesnt then quits only to start working intermitantly for a hour or so then stops working again then leave it for a day and it works for an hour only to do the above again.
Nice video. I received one of these from a friend and it didn't work. I took it apart and found fan shaft very bent and not working. Replaced that motor, and it cranked right up, but would not fire a nail. Put it away for a few weeks. Saw your video and thought this might be my issue. however now gun is dead. I can't even get light to come on in handle. Fan will not work. I can't find any info to address this. battery was out during storage and gun inside carrier, and in my house. Batteries and canisters both work well in another gun. Gun just seems to have lost a connection somewhere. Reset button??? Can you help me.
that looks like the go...I pulled the gun apart and was holding the switch in by hand and it fired every time...put it back together and nothing...time to try your fix! Cheers!
This is great but what I'm interested in is do you swear by the paslode cleaning gear or have you got some more tips on what to clean em with.... standard $2 degreaser???
I have been using break and clutch cleaner for years ( I think there are cleaners that foam but don't use those) to clean my paslode gas guns but I always use the paslode oil
A glass of Merlot and a fine cigar whilst attending to his craft. Now that's one classy Carpenter LOL. I only wish he'd done s better job explaining what part of the gun he was working on and how to access it. You see, I bought a used gun and have never operated one myself let alone attempt to service or repair one. However, I'm sure that I'll figure it out myself over time, at which point his flashing fix may be just what I need to get this thing working. I bought the framing nailer and a finish nailer off Craigslist for only $100.00.....😁.yes, for both. So anything I have to put into them will be worth it
Hi, Skinny. I have an old paslode im250. Finish nailler I have it apart and it is sparking. I can't be shore it,s sparking when it's together. Any ideas what's wrong with it? Thanks. Tom
thanks for the vid. My gun will fire and the drive pin will put a dent in the wood but not drive a nail. It will usually do this a dozen or so times then be ok for a dozen nails then do it again. Any ideas?? Is this part the problem here?? thanks.
Highland Hunters NZ file the end of the pin back flat. One of mine does this when it gets to the end of the strip bloody annoying when the nail is sat at side of the hole the firing pin made
Skinny, i just picked up a used 325li cheap. i knew it didnt work when i got it. thats why it was cheap! haha anyway new battery and new gas but when you pull the trigger nothing happens. any sugestions to what i should do first? thanks, George
Hi skinny my gun is running the fan but as soon as I push down it blinks red and green. I haven't tried your technique yet and was wondering if you had a same similar problem before you made this video.
ok, i took it apart and clean everything with the Paslode spray cleaner. i then oiled the piston and o-rings. everything looked good. the spark plug had a sharp point and was clean to begin with. i put it back toghether and installed a new fully charged battery. No spark! i did try to get it to spark when it was apart. i put battery in and slide the front piece back. then i pushed the switch, nothing happened then either. HELP! ha ha, the gun is so new. it isn't even scratched. i'm not a nail gun mechanic, i have abilities but i don't know anything about this piece. thanks, Skinny George
if your nailgun is as dirty as the one in the video, it needs a clean a serious clean, piston out. 95% of paslode problems these days are cheap gas, dirtier deposits, that stick the rings into the piston grooves.
The paslode finishing gun that I have fires and the pin/plunger that pushes the nail works but the nail does not come out or slides into position to be driven. can someone tell me what the problem might be?Thank you
Well i push the button down and the fan starts but it doesnt spark until i release the button, so when the guns together it only fires when i release the gun off the surface, then the tongue gets jammed.
I'm going to try it out. Trying to sell mine after not using it for a while and got it to worked 3 times in a row, its fan seams noiser than I remember so will give it a army test
See if it works??..............Do you know what you are doing? Sorry mate it's just a mirco switch and you could have put the battery in ONLY and proved your results. I figure you still have a problem and will have to replace the spark unit!. Let us know if I am wrong. Cheers
@@skinny3491 Biggest problem as an electrical tech YOU did not prove by showing it worked. I have a major problem with what you are trying to say when in fact if you knew what you were doing you could have just gently bent the tang for the roller. Also just by pushing the micro switch will not and I repeat will not make it fire. You have to push the trigger and microswitch at the same time. It is a part of the safety built into the unit. LMAO
ken reece The wine fill up and cigar was brilliant, still laughing! On a more serious note, I will be pulling my gun apart this morning and hope that this method of repair will fix it. Cheers.

Great video. I rarely see anyone drinking wine while making such a repair. I had to chuckle.
Great video,I cracked up when you came back and your wine glass was replenished

Wow it worked for one of my guns. My one gun has an issue with not sparking but hats off to ya for an easy diagnosis. Thanks a bunch.
Thanks a lot for the tip about that roller trigger thing. It was bad on my nailer, and now its fixed. I really appreciate it.
Many thanks mate, I followed your tutorial after I serviced my paslode .Now It works like a charm .Thank you
Worked a treat, I'd been stuffing around for a while and then came across your vid. Simple & effective solution, cheers

That’s exactly what I was thinking

Undo the 4 screws on the top of the gun, then the 2 on either side of the depth adjuster. The barrel will now pull away from the body.

@@skinny3491 how do you check for spark?
That so-called spring that you say presses a switch that activates the spark when you pull the trigger

Dont need to put anything on spring lever just bend it up closer to the chamber

The paslode finishing gun that I have fires and the pin/plunger that pushes the nail works but the nail does not come out or slides into position to be driven. can someone tell me what the problem might be?Thank you
Thanks dude, works great now.
Very classy.
what kind of stogie and whine do i have to have while doing this.
this switch is for the fan not the trigger the reason your gun missfires is more than likley a dirty spark plug!
Well i push the button down and the fan starts but it doesnt spark until i release the button, so when the guns together it only fires when i release the gun off the surface, then the tongue gets jammed.
did you fix it?
