Old-school in 60 at the Shell station we were taught to lightly lube the hoses as we slipped them on. Otherwise when you need to replace them the come off easily. Prevents rust, too.
An aftermarket adapter can change the oil filter cartridges to spin ons. The oil needs to have SN/SM designation for zinc. Modern oils and engines. may be without that need or designation. I use STP oil treatment in my old cars. It is liaded with zinc.

What mixture of coolant was used? 50/50 is optimal.
