    I’m one of those people who love watching yours and others videos sharing their amassed knowledge on RUclips but haven’t taken the time to get so granular on forums. So keep it up! Fun format and you two have taught me so much already. Looking forward to more. Cheers.

    Thank you 🙏🙏 to both of you for what you're doing! I would like to see a video comparing or ranking companies like Y2, Double Helix, Fine Creek, Thedi, Buzz Rickson's, RMC, The Flat Head. Double Helix vs. Y2. Double Helix vs. RMC. Price, leather quality and stitching. Is the Shinki leather, the fit and the stitching so much better that you're willing to pay hundreds or thousand more for a jacket? I don't know? Maybe 9 of 10 RMC's leather jackets are very well made and with very high quality leathers, and only 6 of 10 Double Helix leather jackets are very well made and having high quality leathers? I don't know if the quality standards for the mid range Japanese companies are the same, or maybe some of them are very good and some are just okay? Is it worth it? I'm just asking for an update for what you've done before ( many years ago ), because there are new companies on the market. A second opinion ( Leather Jacket Jawn or Carl M. ) would be great. But whatever you both will do, I'll watch it, because you've both such nice personalities. I really appreciate both of your channels and love even more your lovely souls. I'm sorry for my English. Lot's of loving 😘😘❤❤🙏🙏

    Great video and info. Question...What years did the 618 have stars?

    • @LeatherJacketJawn
      @LeatherJacketJawn 28 дней назад

      From the very early days of the late 40’s/early 50’s. Then in the early 80’s they removed the stars but kept the name 618. In the early 90’s they brought back the stars and started calling it 613 and the 618 was kept without stars. I know…it’s complicated..you can blame Schott for that 😂

    just my opinion, perhaps the MC jacket was or still is in some brands made as functional riding jacket, so the front is likely shorter than the kidney panel because you would wear it mostly in seating or even rather hunching forward position, however when worn half zipped while standing off the bike it may give you bolero double belts look, perhaps modern re creation which is probably marketed for people standing and posing with the jacket half zipped need a front drop to look nice without needing super high rise pants, however if you wear the jacket mostly unzipped, actually shorter front would look much nicer and the front hemline won't flare out as much as the jacket with a front drop. probably the single and double rider came from single and double breasted, and since instead of buttons the jacket has zipper then perhaps automatically it is called rider... maybe?

    The zipper pull on the Brando jacket is a paper clip style used on the G1, not the Shott.

      Correct, it's a Talon. Some of the old Schotts do have that same style of paperclip zipper though.

    undoubtedly very cool jacket, the movie stills and promotional shots are really sell the jacket... I dislike the movie though. wearing only the leather shell of the jacket without the lining, will greatly change the behavior how the jacket looks on the wearer, because the jacket is more grippy on the inside and the leather much easier to crease and follow our movements better, so I think it makes the jacket to have a better camera expression following the various poses of Marlon Brando there, and much breathable to wear under the camera lights and hot weather, especially since he wore it with open pockets to let air in . However I think people will never be able to recreate his look because things look A LOT more coherent in black and white pictures.

    Who was first? Who invented?
    Folks, it is clear as blue sky where from came inspiration for that "biker" look.

      You are not right, the leather Perfecto was the idea of Irving Schott in 1923, as the first motorcycle jacket for Harley Davidson.
