@@acerwhite6731 depends on the climate at your home. I've started at fall, as I remember :) And on the spring I've moved the young trees to the open soil outdoors.

They are growing on the open air almost an year already :) A few of them were damaged or totally destroyed by stupids. But the most are doing OK and couple of trees are higher than 1 meter :)

I just sowed catalpa seeds in peat pellets like you use here and have them in plastic seed flats. The seed flats are on top of seedling heat mats to provide bottom warmth. Seedling heat mats speed up germination for most seeds and am wondering if you used seedling heat mats to start your catalpa seeds. Sowed my seeds on June 10th, 2022 and hoping they will germinate. Would appreciate your reply. Thanks!

Hello. I didn't use any special mats or soils. Just sowed seed into coconut/peat tablets. No fertilizers as well.

@@Vzhyk Just wanted you to know that I checked this morning and I have one catalpa seed germinating, poking out of the peat in the peat pellet! This germination took four days. Am using a seedling heat mat and it CERTAINLY DOES speed up germination and am glad I used it! You might want to try it if you want faster germination if you decide to sprout more catalpa seeds! This is my first time ever trying to germinate them and I have YOU to thank for my success!! I live on a first-floor apartment and don't have a yard so I'll need to keep the future tree in a big pot. Thanks AGAIN for illustrating how you start catalpa seeds!

Hoping you had more than one seed germinate as shown in your clip. I'd be interested in knowing the germination rate you had.

Hey Vzhyk, I have photos of some of my catalpa trees that I started from seeds!! If you want to see how big mine are, send me an e-mail address and I'll attach some photos of them! The leaves on one of them are HUGE, bigger than my hand!! Let me know and if you want to keep your e-mail private, let me know and I can send you my e-mail. Thanks!!

Did you ever notice leaves getting tougher, darker green, leathery and curling? And maybe black at the tips of the leaves? I am starting to see that and having trouble diagnosing. Wondering if I could be over watering

@@FunnySkeleton10 If they are small pale-colored insects that are in the flowers, especially on the anthers (male part of flower that produces pollen), they may be an insect called "thrips." Thrips are very small insects that can fly and they feed on pollen and can also feed on tender leaves and shoots!
