@@WHATLIVESDOWNTHERE Ha haha! That;s great! Amazing waves lately, been watching them on web cam since I'm a few counties north. I grew up in Pacifica, I actually thought of sending a camera down there some how a long time ago but never did. I'm so happy seeing your videos.
I saw the other Day that talk at google about Eye of the Shoal. And it was Amazing that part about the sound fishes make (and obviously the part about your art) but it never ocurred to me the thing about sounds.
Hi Gerardo! That's amazing! I almost forgot about that. Yeah, the chapter on fish sounds is amazing. That was a really fun drawing to do as well. I illustrated another book with Helen Scales called the Brilliant Abyss. Still, a ways off for a release date, but you can see the cover here - www.bloomsbury.com/in/the-brilliant-abyss-9781472966902/ Thanks so much for watching!
Very cool video and an equally cool sweater! I don't recall seeing a Khôrada sweater for sale. Also, I'm 99.95% sure that the noise in question is you making whale noises in the distance! (; Cheers from Canada!
Hi! Thanks so much for watching. I'm checking with Jason right now to see if we have any hoodies left. We didn't make a ton of them, so chances are slim, but I'll let you know!
@@WHATLIVESDOWNTHERE Jason Walton? I listen to his podcast! You should guest on there again sometime, that'd be super cool! You introduced me to Riff Cohen and some really interesting Turkish Psych Rock on the first episode.
@@xandereon7901 That makes me so happy to hear! I'd love to guest on his again. Next time I'm in Portland. Till then, listen to Altin Gün and Gaye Su Akyol. Trust me.
Thank you for this! I live a block away, and took a walk outside at the same time. You are correct when you say the camera does not do it justice. It was as dark, or darker, than night time with a full moon. I am subscribing and sharing this with my family and friends to show them what it looked like. Btw, is that a seal chattering in the underwater shot at the end? Great job! Thanks again!👍🏽
bbjett Thank YOU for watching BB! It was haunting, absolutely. It seems everyone’s phones were absorbing every bit of light they could when shooting this. And thanks so much for sharing! My guess is that it was a whale far off, but after a couple of comments have said seal, in starting to wonder if a seal or sea lion could make that sound.
This would be a great pier if it wasn’t for all the weed smoking, cigarette smoking, ETOH drinking, “poachingest” bunch of miscreants, degenerates, and thugs who hang out there. Every LEO should visit this pier every day.
It certainly gets a bit “Wild West” out there. Unfortunately, it’s under jurisdiction of the Pacifica PD and they are stretched thin due to budget constraints. But as you see in this video, they still get out there as much as they can. Poaching is certainly a huge problem on this pier.
That's what I think, but who knows! July/August is generally when they peak around our coast while migrating. It changes every year though. I've seen them like crazy in March too. Thanks for watching, Xiphias!!
I remember that day. I went to the SF Zoo and observed the animals. Most were dealing with it fine. The chimps though looked more like they were thinking “ what have you humans done now ? “ 🙄 Got some nice pics from that day.
fernando martin Hey Fernando! I actually do have a line in the water in my very first vid, and will be fishing in some future videos, but I’m not terribly good at it and would be a poor source of advice. Subscribe to @ishwithfish who fishes quite a bit from the pier and has great videos, and @fishermanslife who is incredible, and super informative.

Can you do a calaveras river one
@@curtmedlock1729 Oh, I like that idea! I'll for surely try to. Always wanted to explore more of Calaveras county. Thanks Curt!
Sea lion 🧐🧐
It so could be! A burping, moaning sea lion. Haha. Who knows!?
This was my first week in CA.
UGH! Well, thankfully it hasn't happened again to this extent. But that must have been a bit shocking.
love your vids, take a look at Pescadero or Fort Point next time
Fort Point would be awesome! And I did an early attempt at the Pescadero Marshes. I plan on returning very soon. Stay tuned!
I think it was a whale saying: WwwwwOww!
Terry, I checked with local whale experts and they said you were absolutely correct. That’s exactly what they’re saying!!

Such a strange day in California. So glad you got to capture it!
It certainly was unlike anything I’ve ever seen. So thankful it hasn’t happened again since.

Grey whale
You're probably right. They get soooo close to the pier out there.
I think that sound was a whale call
Kno Mames Yeah, that would be my guess. Thanks for watching, Kno!

Sounds like the whale in Finding Nemo!
Totally! Or Dory doing a whale impression!! That's what I thought when I first heard it.
