get a 124060 grey if you really cannot wait, and wear it as much as you can. after a few weeks youll realize its just a watch, and it might save you from paying more money over retail on other watches with higher markups.

No, after producing it for 70y since the 6542 They arent that dumb to discontinue one of the hottest piece. The rumor is made by grey dealer who stucked with tons of pepsi
Same with Toyota. They produce 10 million vehicles a year, yet there was a sudden production issue, and now there is still a waiting list of more than a year for some of the most popular cars like RAV4.
The blue and red ceramic bezel has actually been in production since 2013 with the white gold GMT-Master 2 ref 116719BLRO

exactly this, they are all flooded with inventory they cannot move. They need to stop asking covid prices FFS. Meanwhile ADs across the land are getting loads more stuff from Geneva. My local WoS addy had almost a window, a third full of desirable pieces for sale as a walk in.

Definitely market has slowed, look at the recent auction houses and the prices they are fetching, and the pieces that didn’t hit minimum reserve.

These watches are so hard to get hold of that the grey dealers have hundreds of them in stock. 😂
A bit misleading here… you don’t need to spend £100k to get a £9k watch. You simply have to buy the stuff that ADs make the most margin on. Steel Rolex = low margin as they are easy sells. Gold Rolex = high margin as they are hard sells. Jewellery = high margin other watch brands = high margin as they are also hard sells. Don’t be a wally paying £8k over list, unless you want to lose £4k when you walk out the door. 😂
Wait for the watch (all the excitement is in the wait), don’t buy as an investment, and always buy at retail. 👌🏻
Complete BS is the correct term. Have picked up an E2 Polar and a 126515LN back in December without spending history at two AD’s I haven’t used before.
Got my jubilee GMT Sprite 2 weeks ago. No spend, no history. It’s my first Rolex. So happy!

Hey Charlie keep up the great work. I was offered a two tone Daytona from my AD - I knocked it back (not the one I wanted), BUT 6 months later my full White Gold Daytona arrived (116509).
It was the second Rolex I brought - the first a two tone Sea dweller. Still own both of them. I was a bit nervous saying no to a Daytona, but it turned out to be the right decision.
Also just picked up a 31mm OP with Tiffany dial for my wife a couple of months ago (waited 12 months) - I don't buy anything I don't want. Love your market info....

I’ve owned 2 steel Daytonas. Got them both list… swept up by the hype, didn’t really like them. Got a sea dweller basher and recently bought an unworn stickered JC Deep Sea. Absolutely love it. And he’s right, don’t play the AD game. See it. Like it. Buy it. Bosh!! Got my JC well under list… 😊

Got my black steel Daytona within 9 months, my panda Daytona within 2 months and got a ghost same day I got the black dial steel Daytona. Got the PN 116518 within one month. Had all the other steel sports also / not hard in reality

Hey really enjoy your videos. I guess i was lucky. About 2 years ago i asked my ad to buy a rootbeer and she said 1 year or so and almost 1 year later it came and bought it. Then 5 months ago i was turning 50 and wanted another one being a lefty i wanted the sprite i ordered and it came after 3 months. I dont flip or sell any of my watches. Maybe they know that or maybe just lucky. If rolex ever made a daytona ss with blue face i would want it but dont really like any other ones in the current catalog to be honest. Anyone who pays thousands over list for a metal watch must have more money than sense.
unless you expect it to be discontinued and therefore expect it to appreciate in value over time, in which case it makes perfect sense.
Not going to play the game or spend those prices on the GM. I will just buy a nice Moser and JLC Reverso.

Started in 2016. Have bought an explorer, submariner, DJ mint green and GMT. Have not waited for more than 6 months on any of the models. Have also bought 2 cartiers and a Longines at the same AD.
Did you have to buy many non-Rolex watches to build your spend up?

True, but if you’re going to buy a stainless steel model on the grey for 25-28k usd you might as well ask your ad to get you the gold model. At least here in the Miami ,Fort Lauderdale , west palm beach area the yellow gold models are obtainable with a decent spend history. My brother got one on his 5th purchase with his forth purchase being a Longines watch. In my opinion , if you can find an ad that sales multiple brands . Go that route
@@aaronclarke919 I think a new customer can get a precious metal Daytona pre-quickly now. The markets changed and A.Ds are dying to get customers in that have 50 K to spend. It’s basically basically only the 10k sports models that are still in demand

100% agree on the Blue SS SkyDweller. impossible to buy from an AD without being a VIP customer of theirs. They simply do not make many of this dial variation. As you say, buy at grey dealer as prices have evidently bottomed here on this model an likely to climb again from hereon-in.

Yeah no thanks, had a really good natural progression of watches from the Rolex Boutique that I actually wanted. Starbucks > Batgirl > Blue Dial Skydweller over a 3 yr time span all at retail. (watches from other brands bought as well but from different dealers).
Just repeat visits, fun discussions, and showed up enough wearing what I bought to build confidence I wasn't a watch flipper.
To be fair, If you only want a Daytona, Pepsi or a Skydweller and nothing else ever, then you're probably out of luck and he's right...short of being the nephew of the store owner you likely aren't getting any of those without a good spend history and confidence that you aren't going to flip it (they get penalized as a store when something Rolex has distributed to them ends up on the gray market...that typically translates as fewer sports model allocations annually.)

Sorry I don't totally agree. Last year I bought the Oyster Sprite at one Caribbean AD in March on Vacation then a few weeks later my regular Caribbean AD from a different island called to say the Panda Daytona I requested arrived. I had no history but a connection with the Sprite AD and a very good relationship with the regular Caribbean AD. I would consider them friends but I haven't spent hundreds of thousands there. In November my local Canadian AD offered me the new model Ghost which I love. Overall a great year for adding to my collection. I would never sell any and wear them all rotating with the other Rolexes in my collection. Funny enough the one I am having a hard time acquiring is the Blue Sky Dweller but I believe this is the year! Love your channel. Thanks

Such a weird disconnect with watches. My grail is a no-date sub, been waiting for ages, and I can drop that money without shedding a tear. But I am not gonna really suck up to a retail sales assistant in a high street store to buy one. Obviously there are levels to this, and I'm at the bottom of the luxury watch chain tbf.

All steel GMTs pretty difficult to get from ADs. Even steel subs require a couple of purchases minimum (ie: Datejust and a non Rolex) in most cases.

Should still be a difficult one to obtain, though not as much so as some other GMTs 👌
So my AD still had the Panda as the most ungettable watch, however... she said the list is now open again! Although said it's pretty much only celebs and VIPs who get it. She's never had one come in. But she does get the odd Pepsi, albeit only 1 last year which went to my mate and that's the only watch he managed to get last year.
I'm glad the OP 41 Celebration didn't appear in this video, that's the one I really want. My AD said she's seen 4 come in so far so it is possible. Just hope it's not discontinued this week.

ADealers are getting greedier in 2024, trying to clear inventory, blatantly bundling each popular Rolex with a few pieces other brand watches that they cannot sell in this poor retail environment.
If you all stop buying these watches, in one year, the rolex boutique will beg you to buy in discounts

Not sure there is any scarcity, all the 2nd hand watch dealers are stocked to their necks in "scarce" watches... it just means people are still flipping watches, and grey market dealers are reluctant to cut prices and crystallise their losses 📉

There are way better GMT/Dual time for secondary prices…. You can easily get a Gen 2 vacheron overseas or gen 3 with dial instead and have a much more interesting watch. The hype will fade and the vacheron will always be a vacheron!

The new Pepsi is the most overrated watch. The colours are so muted because of the production issues. The 16710 with the aluminium bezel looks far better. The new model should be called the Aston Villa not the Pepsi.

Yes, die production issues of the bezel are still exist. I‘ve recently compared a 2024 production with my 2021 (should be MKII) I expected that the blue is much dark with less violet tones in it. Actually, the blue is even brighter and more violet. 🙈
@@Graility it’s because they can’t get the lighter blue to cover the red every time. And when they do they are prone to cracking during service. So they have got darker and darker. Rolex cracked my buddy’s from a 2020 Pepsi and replaced it with the new one. It looks like crap and he is fuming.
@@gaffs82 I expected, but the 2024 is lighter then my 2021, so I‘m very confused. I would prefer a darker blue if it counters the ugly violet tone.

There are no “production problems” with the Pepsi-not even close. It’s just way overhyped, like the white Daytona-which is very boring in person. It’s a faux sense of scarcity.
Thankfully I’ve known my ad for over ten years. Bought a Panerai way back in then a Datejust a few years later. Then got a black gmt before the hype. Then a white Daytona and blue Skydweller. But again. They have known me forever. Not a big spender. Just bought what I love over the years and they know that and appreciate it.
