I have a suggestion. X# Devs Expand a Game without Communicating. Have one of your past projects expanded to see if they can either flesh it out or if it will become a mess. Great video.
@@LazyTeaStudios You needed to be dev 8-9 on that one lmaooo. Let other brains make some wacky stuff then you come in and setup the frame. Then let everyone continue to implement their sauce.
Probably one of the top 3 of this series. The first dev carried and gave a great direction and everyone just added ontop of it and improved what was there. Was a little worried about the monster being added but it added to the game in a nice way!
honestly everyone cooked so hard with this video- the first dev set a great direction, the second dev added such good sound design and ambiance, the third and fourth devs really amped up the project by adding the horror chase elements and creepy monster direction, and the fifth and sixth devs did such a good job improving the level design, expanding the game, and adding such cool qol improvements (the fireflies idea was so cool). makes me a bit sad this is a pass the game challenge game, as i feel like if this was polished and “finished” it’d make such a good indie game i wouldn’t mind paying money for. all-in-all great job guys you all did amazing!!
You guys should keep adding to this! I’d watch another video where you guys polished it. It felt like a game big time RUclipsrs would play and love it!
This is probably the best pass-the-game video yet. Dev 1 created probably the strongest foundation of any of the others you've done-the art style, direction, and apparently the structure of the code! Then, bam, in comes Dev 2 with amazing sound work. I really enjoyed this. Hats off to all of the developers on this one. What a lovely little indie game! I just wish work on it would continue!
This really stresses how important it is to consistently apply good dev practices ESPECIALLY in a game jam-esk setting. Having a plan, staying organized, and creating a solid foundation. It may take slightly longer up front but even without talking it was obviously easier to tell what dev 1 was doing.
My favorite one yet! I’m not sure what ever comes of these games but I think it’d be cool to let all the devs that took part continue on with a copy of it if they’d like. Or maybe if one dev wants to claim the project to continue it that would be awesome because so much could come from this 15:41
i doubt it, they almost always have their own personal projects and would not have time for side gigs, or very limited time, or just sparingly touching it from time to time, the only way i can see these continue is if there's a new challenge to polish these games, either by completely new devs or the ones who made it
First dev did a cool job making a super solid base for everybody, and liked how they didn't resort to the cliche FPS horror style! Would enjoy this one getting continued with more devs finishing this game further. Few more game mechanics not involving jumping would be great, and maybe something that aids the girl with getting off the naughty list.
That’s proof that the first dev is THE most important because if he lays it out in the right way, then a masterpiece of a game can be brought to the world. As a 3D type of player, I’d definitely play that game if it was polished a bit better!!
Was a pleasure doing business with you all! Such a coherent and well put together game we managed to churn out. I made a companion video about my audiosystem on my channel if anybody's interested. ❤ Happy holidays! 🎅🎄🎄🕯️
I loved your contribution to the project! Sound is so underrated in video games, but it truly adds so much, which is why it’s great that you added so many sounds. You guys made a great game, looking forward to seeing your stuff in the future
The development went really amazingly but I couldn't really tell where the game's story was going near the end. Personally, I liked the original concept a girl trying to get off Naughty List a day or two before Christmas happens.
I agree, the sister aspect of the story seemed unnecessary. Sticking to the core idea of looking to get off the naughty list and trying to sneak into Santa's lair (or kingdom?) to steal the list and erase his name and get back onto the nice list (I may have extrapolated, lol!) would be a really fun idea to pursue. There's a lot of twists and different outcomes you can add to that storyline. You can really explore the possible reasons behind why the boy is so determined to get back on the Nice list (why is it so important?). Adding a sister just makes the story predicable: sister has been kidnapped since she's on the naughty list and is about to be killed by Santa and his creatures (I'd assume), the goal is to save her and that's it.
One of the best ones of this concept. Mainly due to the amazing first dev, and that the others recognized this and added onto the amazing base the first dev established. Wish they had another round after the first meeting to make it a "complete" game - the mechanics are really cool, and I say that despite not really liking the gameplay of most 2d platformers.
Y'all need to pay LazyTeaStudios for that chiropractor bill. His back is absolutely SHOT because he carried the setup, plot, premise, organization of code and more. I hope he has a holly, jolly, Christmas.
I have an idea for the story: Sally is in the naughty list because of an event that happened to here she doesn't remember anything from the last Christmas Eve where she accidentally kills her sister now she woke up in a Mysterious forest and needs to find Santa to know what happened but every time she gets closer to the Truth the more she gets scared and loses hope the game supposed to torment her phycological she doesn't want to believe that's what happened and that's the reason why she is in the naughty list
This game probably has the most potential to actually be great, it felt like a hollow knight kind of game and the atmosphere and base game seemed very enjoyable
Actually one of the best episodes of the series. All of the devs did amazing work, stayed true to the theme, and I could imagine this being a full steam game. The discussion on next steps at the end was also very high level.
Really really really solid foundation it just needed like 1-2 more devs to finish it up. finish the last chapter, make like the last 2 enemies come to life and maybe some balance changes to make it easier like checkpoints
It would be really cool to see another series of videos where you take these created games, taking into account all the feedback and conclusions, and call the same devs and try to scale the game to another level.

Fantastic, now all we need is... I never watch this videos until I read the comments and see if there's people saying 1 dev ruined everything.
