I had 21 skeins of color yarn that I had purchased along 2 years to do mexican embroidery. I used all of them to crochet 200 granny squares, made a white border on all of them, purchased a couple more colours and made a huge blanket almost 1.80 meters long by 1.40meters wide. I have sooo much cotton yarn from when I was convinced I had to make cotton throw blankets. To use up skeins, I made a huge basket that I use as a hamper and then now I’m making a book bag for classes. I’m definitely making the soap saver bag and the sakura face scrubbies with a little basket to hold them. Thanks for the ideas !
Lol! Cotton yarn is really good to have in your stash, but sounds like you are overrun with it. I have always wanted to crochet a large basket, but haven't ever conquered a project of your size. Did you make it up or follow a pattern? That's clever, love the idea of a book bag....crocheted. Wonderful to hear you will be making some of these items! Thanks so much for sharing.
It’s great to see some ideas for my scraps from loom knitting, which I just started last month. I’ve found I don’t have enough yarn for knitting projects, but I learned to crochet when I was a kid, and I’m excited to have something to do with the leftover bits, especially since my mom just refound her hooks and doesn’t really want them anymore. The slipper pattern seems like it’d be nice for babies or even dolls, depending on what leftovers you have! I’ve been wanting to make something cute for my cousin who is trying to conceive so that I can send a nice present when she announces a baby is on the way!
Perfect timing for your mom to find her hooks and for you to start a new hobby. I love your idea of making a gift for your cousin when she has a baby. It is so special to give handmade items to people you love. I hope that you make something with your scrap yarn! I find your comment very interesting because I just crocheted a unicorn lovey (stuffed animal/blanket) for my cousin who has a baby on the way. I was able to use up some of my leftover yarn from previous projects. It felt so good to repurpose old yarn I've had for years into a new item that will be cherished by a loving family. Thank you so much for leaving a comment! I do hope that you make something for your cousin!!

You are so welcome! Glad to hear your crafting mojo is back!!! I love the wall hangings. Hope you find time to make it! And thanks so much for the compliment, I really appreciate you noticing the work that went into this video 💛
Hi thank you for theses suggestions. I am going to have a go at the slippers, but could you advise me on what a worsted weight wool is please, as I haven’t heard or used it before. I am relatively new to crochet. Thank you again. Hx 🇬🇧
Hi!! Thanks for the question! Such a great pattern choice, love the slippers 💛 I'll do my best to explain. Yarn is divided into different weights, and all that means is the thickness of the yarn. For example, "lace weight" refers to a super thin yarn, which you can probably imagine. So "worsted weight" refers to a medium sized yarn. This link helps to explain that in chart form, www.craftyarncouncil.com/standards/yarn-weight-system. I hope that's helpful, but let me know if you have any other questions about it!
It just seems so hard to part with the little scraps, but after years of this hobby it becomes out of control...at least for me. It's fun to think outside the box and try to combine colors and patterns to make something you love and will use. I do hope that you were able to gain inspiration and choose a pattern to try out!
Thank you for sharing these great ideas. I plan to primarily knit & crochet from my stash in 2022, or at least try! I’ll be sure to mention this video in my next video. Happy holidays! 😄 Christina

I'm a huge fan of searching for specific patterns on Google or Pinterest. Usually there is a free pattern floating out there. There is also Love Crafts, but I haven't personally used that one as much.

I like the gift wrap idea so cool!
@@SewHomey yess good thing the hamper ate up tons :) I followed a tutorial from Jayda in Stitches !
@@monicacardenas7924 I bet it did! I'll have to check it out :)
Hello! Your video showed up in my feed and I’m drawn to stash busting projects. I love so many of these projects and look forward to trying them. Thank you for this great post. 🧶💕
I'm fortunate the RUclips algorithm worked in this instance. So happy that you love some projects. I hope that you make the ones you like! Thanks for sharing :)
Love the fingerless gloves!
Thank you for this video ! I just discovered your channel, I really love what you are doing.
I love your vibe, too ! You are calm, soothing tone of voice.
Cheers from Montreal !
Very kind of you, thank you! I'm happy to have you here and it's wonderful to hear that you liked this video. I hope you feel inspired to make projects that use your stash!
Also I noticed that this is a pretty small channel, and just wanted to say that you're doing great! I look forward to seeing your on camera confidence improve, but i also look forward to seeing more of your content in general!
Im a beginner and have been trying out different slipper patterns. I also like to make baskets/plant pot covers and plushies
That's so cool! When I started crocheting, I was into making slippers too! I found them so fun to make, quick and particularly useful when complete. Thanks so much for sharing the projects that you like to make! We have very similar interests.
I've made a pretty large stuffed toy just using random scraps of yarn, it turned out so cute and colourful! Highly recommend using up scraps of all kinds of colours to give items pops of colours!
That's awesome! And funny you mention that! I am actually using up scraps right now to make a stuffed bear for a family member.
Best crochet video I have seen. Great choice of patterns. Thank you for all the research it took to pull all these patterns together. Just found your youtube site. Will be watching.
Oh! Thank you so much for saying that! I'm happy to have you here!
That gift flower could easily go on a hair clip, pin, or other accessory. Make multiples, and you could use them as an appliqué or decoration on one of those baskets. I have a variegated yarn that I could use that for. Thank you for making this video. My yarnivore brain is humming now, and my scrap stash is calling me!
"Yarnivore brain", I love this term, going to start using that lol Thank you for sharing your ideas! I love how versatile those flowers are, you could use them in so many ways as you've stated. Happy scrap busting!
@@SewHomey lol, Thank the Fiber Spider for that one. I picked it up from watching his RUclips channel.
Yes! Scrap busting is so satisfying!
@@BluestormsSong Oh, I see! I'll have to check out his channel. I'll love that term!

Wow, thank you! That's kind of you to say. I hope you gained some inspiration for your very own projects!
@@SewHomey so far I have made some crochet bath and face cloths, square using different stitches, they look cool hanging up to go with my bathroom decor :)
@@alisonmary1443 And how do you like using them?! Sounds like you are enjoying the aesthetic of your new face cloths. I'm glad you could make them match your bathroom decor!
@@SewHomey I truthfully love them, I used cotton for all of them. I made a bigger one in Alpine stitch for the bath, which looks so cool hanging over the bath handle, two smaller for my face, one a flower. My skin feels amazing after using them and have ditched harsh exfoliating gloves, I just feel they do the job more gently.
@@alisonmary1443 The alpine stitch is beautiful, I'm sure that looks lovely in your bathroom. I'm so glad you shared that it makes your skin feel amazing. I've had the best intentions to use my cotton yarn and make the patterns suggested in this video. It keeps getting put on the back burner. I think you've given me the inspiration to make a couple and try this out for myself!
Thank you, these are all great ideas! I especially like the gift wrapping ideas, they really add a special touch. And I will definetly try out the slippers and those kreisel gloves. You really put a lot of work and thought into this, one can see.
It makes me so happy to hear that you are going to try out some of the patterns! I encourage you to try out the gift wrapping. It's my favorite thing to do with left over scraps!
Wow this video has so many interesting and unique ideas!
Glad to hear! Hope you found a pattern to try out!
This was a really good list, I got some great ideas from it. I'll subscribe.
Miss Homey, at the 9:45 minute mark, you used the phrase "mug rug", I made them starting 10 years ago, I just called them "coffee cup hot pads"! I think "mug rug" is a funner word play for the item! That's how I'll refer to the from now on!🤭👍. I'm a guy, left handed, and, I crochet left handedly-backwards left to right! 58 years old-as of November 9th. Have been crocheting now 53 years! 🤭👍🧸😇😁🤓Doug
Hi Doug! Glad you liked the word play. Although I can't claim it as my own, I LOVE this term too. It just rolls right off the tongue.
Happy belated birthday! I'm impressed you've been crocheting so long! I hope to one day say the same. In all your years crocheting, what is your favorite item to make?
I love wearing all the things I crochet and I’m about to do more now with my stash.
Cute slippers!
Yes me too!! One of crochets many appeals 😁

Such a great pattern choice, love the slippers 💛
I'll do my best to explain.
Thank you so much, that is very helpful.
Hx 🇬🇧
These are brilliant!
For the pouches, Tinna Thorudottir Thorvaldar has a great idea of how to crochet this around the pouches, removing the need for sewing it on.
Great! Thanks for mentioning this, I'll have to check her out!

Great ideas! I've wondered what to do with extras and not waste....
It just seems so hard to part with the little scraps, but after years of this hobby it becomes out of control...at least for me. I have been chrocheting since I was,7 years old. And I have a big yarns stash to.
Wow! Not going to ask how old you are lol but I will assume quite a bit older than 7... I can't imagine what my stash would look like if I had learned to crochet that young. I think that is very cool that you learned to crochet that young!

Yes my Nana taught me that young she was old fashioned and she said you can watch TV but always have a project in your hands like a little lady

Where do you find free patterns ?
Hi, thanks for the question! You can find free patterns all over the place. I like to use Ravelry because you can narrow your search by many different filters. I also find them on blogs. I'm a huge fan of searching for specific patterns on Google or Pinterest. Usually there is a free pattern floating out there. There is also Love Crafts, but I haven't personally used that one as much.
Great range of ideas, well-presented. Wish people realized there is no ‘pretty unique” or “very unique”. (3 times in the last minute!). Unique means one of a kind.
