    Michiel and Lee from Urban Combatives are the only 2 i know that teach real life situations work. And they always say do not go to the ground in the street. And everyone else is promoting JJ as the thing that will beat everyone. Yes maybe in the dojo but Michiel teaches self defense for your life. Big difference.🙏

    This is interesting as the "Opening the gate" with the legs reminds me of classical kung fu takedowns. Any preference for the hand grips?
    In a winter setup, a jacket is fine.
    Can one clinch to the ears, neck or long hairs? Or in summer just the T-Shirt for example?

    • @schoolofselfprotection
      @schoolofselfprotection  4 месяца назад +5

      That was a setup. You cannot protect yourself when you do that. It’s an assessment you make. That can work out or fail on you.

      I thought the same thing, I see it in police officers all the time, I understand it as a scan for threats, but if you have a partner that is their job, if you are by yourself that brings in complications. But didn’t know it was done with intent. Thanks for the explanation.

    I did it a lot with a thai clinch and a neck extension. Sometimes people would put their hand on the ground to fight the takedown. My solution is to do a head+arm lock, but normaly I would handcuff them on the ground... whats your solution for that (hands on the ground)?

    Hello there, that was an amazing educationial video. It was good to see the actual the footage in which the technique is performed. The technique was straight to the point and efficient, don't get me wrong. But is there a reason why you didn't add a foot sweep, because that could have helped also to take the guy down. Is that maybe because you want to control how he falls to minimize the impact on him? Just asking out of curiosity. Keep up the good work!

  • @chrishalodri1051
    @chrishalodri1051 4 месяца назад

    I really like your technics and thoughts? But why always so aggro? You are TEACHING ... No need to talk and act with wide open eyes and behave like a seargent in a war 😂 there no need to demonstrate your maskulism all the time. Look at teachers in Japan, Thailand whatever. They are calm and relaxed.

    • @schoolofselfprotection
      @schoolofselfprotection  4 месяца назад +2

      You are confusing two things: martial arts and combatives. The aggression is the number 1 thing you need in a street confrontation. Nobody is fearful when angry. You can only be in 1 emotional state at the time. It’s a state management thing. When adrenaline and the threat of multiples and weapons are possible you want and need to control yourself first before going to the physical stuff.
