Very interesting tip on covering up a scratch on violin. I’ve wood carved a while back some animals and used shoe polish to color w satisfying results. Do luthiers approve ur technique. Few months ago I bought a mid priced Chinese violin and some of the vanish they used appears to have been thin as some fine cracks appeared. Old English polish applied makes it disappear (don’t think it’s what would be recommended). Is there a leprechaun that hides in the house to scratch up OCD violinists instruments?
I would not use the wax as it will interfere with lacquer coatings after that. If the violin sounds good and you cannot fix it properly, leave it alone.
Well I tried Brown polish when I first started doing this years ago and soon switched to Black as the Brown just didn't seem to work as well. Don't forget that you are removing all the surrounding polish and simply leaving a small amount in the actual scratch which seems to just blend in and make the scratch appear to vanish.
good video sir! by other side, I have started to play the violin and I am learning the first position, I like a lot Irish jigs that you play and I would like to know if you have a single music sheet of a jig that you can recommend me to start playing this gender, thank you man! I see always your videos, you are a very good musician.

Use brown boot polish?
Not black right?
Thank you; great tip. 😊
awesome!!! I'd never thought of that !!! thank you so much !!! I don't know how, but my violinist always getting tiny nicks and scratches
It's a handy remedy, but check a small area first.

Thanks for the tip ! Does the color of the polish (it appears you have been using black) affects the result ?

That's given me some food for thought, leave it with me for a couple of days. See what I can come up with
@@peakfiddler cool, thank you so much sir 😁
by the way ,,, your violin is absolutely beautiful !!!
I have never regretted buying my Jay Haide, it's always been my best violin.
Nice one. Presumably this technique could be used on worn edges as well.
Worth a try I would guess
Does this work with lighter coloured ones??
I'm not sure, but you could use a cotton bud on a small area and see.
doesn't sound as a good idea. take it to a professional and let it be safely repaired.
