Guys, I am so happy you like this video! There are two questions that popped up several times so I will answer them here in this pinnend comment: - „How did you ship your bike to Oman?“ Easy answer: I didn’t and I will tell you more details in the upcoming episode. This here is only a summary, so most information that you are looking for will come up in the next detailed episode of the trip! But the easy answer: these bikes are rentals! I know, it looks exactly my own Tenere, but it isn’t! 😅 - „Is it legal to use a drone in Oman? Can you recommend bringing a drone with you in an airplane?“ Short answer: I can’t. Long answer: I am very hesistant with this kind of information because the laws regarding drones change very fast and I used a lot of grey zones for flying my drone in Oman - so I can’t recommend doing what I did a 100 percent because it is just not 100 percent bulletproof and legal. Please do your own research anyways and don’t ask advice from some people on social media, there are countless sites that give you information about the current drone laws of each country and according to them you should decide how and if you can fly your drone. Just flying your drone because you see that someone else did it can bring you in big trouble in countries where drones are not legal. What I can say for Oman: there are different laws regarding big drones and small drones that are below 250 grams - that’s why in this case I flew a dji mini and not my usual big mavic 2 zoom. Omanis are allowed to register a drone legally, tourists aren’t - that is something else I used for my „advantage“. So I guess you can do your own math with this information, but I will not go into the details here because everything else is a very grey zone and I just can’t recommend anyone else to do the same. Do your own research and figure out if you can find a way that makes it „legal enough“ - and be aware of all the consequences that an illegal use of flying drones can have, including going to jail. So please don’t do things only because someone else did them.
Loved this video. I spent 2 years in Oman. A wonderful country. My highlight was being a member of the first expedition to circumnavigate Oman from Muscat to Salallah, along the Yemeni boarder, North through the Empty Quarter, over the Hajar mountains and through the Batinah to Muscat. It would have been fun on a bike but hard work. We used Range Rovers, still a lot of fun but a little more comfortable. This was in 1995, I think they have built a lot more new roads now looking at your film. It took us 10 days to do 4000km. Great memories of a lovely country and it's people.
As a Saudi the Next country to 🇴🇲 🙂🇸🇦 I can tell you what is the right way to do this... Usually in a king or Sultan or Prince...palace....those Places you never think to use your Camera 📷 at all⛔ Not around Military places ⛔ Not around Airports ⛔ If you come and asks Local..easily you can understand where to filming and where you can't... Hope I did give you some advice... 🙂🇸🇦👍🏻
About 20 years ago I had the chance to move from Canada to Sana'a, Yemen for a few years working out in the Empty Quarter (Marib region) for an American oil company. I spent months at a time living out in the Empty Quarter supervising drilling operation. It is a time I will never forget. It definitely wasn't as safe as Oman, but eventually you get used to the environment. I miss the rugged beauty of the huge sand dunes and sunrise. I made business trips to Muscat to look at equipment headed to Yemen. Muscat was jaw droppingly Beautiful. I remember driving through the city and everything was perfectly manicured with not a leaf out of place. I never expected the rugged beauty of the coastline. Your video brought back so many memories. I am glad it has not changed too much. Your comments regarding "how friendly and welcoming the local people are", is "spot on"! The locals in the Empty Quarter Desert, and essentially everywhere I went, lived a very simple, laid back life,. They have very little, but always were happy and wanted to share what little they had. Many times I crossed paths with local bedouin in the desert who were always friendly usually invited me into their tents or homes for chai tea. I am slowly working my way through your videos. The drone video work is amazing!!! Thank You for documenting your travel experiences along the way!!! It has brought back many memories!!!
this is what I love about independent travellers and vloggers travelling the world, you show us what these countries are really like, not what the biased western media portray about these Eastern countries, just respect their culture and don't be an idiot, they will welcome you with open arms and treat you as a friend and show you the best hospitality going. Thank you for sharing this adventure xoxox
Respect for culture is a must wherever you go, I agree. But don’t forget that if you have had a daughter in a place like Oman, she wouldn’t be allowed to choose freely about her life. A man’s confirmation is always required for every little thing. I’m not even talking about solo traveling. If you are a woman, first you must get confirmation from your dad, and then you must marry and comply to your husband.
Growing up in the Sultanate as an expat, we've known the kindness and hospitality of the people first hand. The scenic coastal route to Salalah is one that we'd have to take sometime on a later visit in the future inshallah. This is an amazing documentary, if I may call it that, you left me teary eyed towards the end.

Been living in the middle east for years now and Oman is always my favorite road trip choice. Was able to do almost a coast to coast road trip last year and was never disappointed of it's beauty. Aside from its beautiful scenery, undoubtedly Omani's hospitality is the best not just in the region but probably the world. Their culture is so unique and well preserved. Been to Oman 3 times but I will keep on coming back. Thank you for this well represented video of Oman's beauty. Seeing this scenery made me plan my next Oman trip sooner.

I guess next time you visit you will probably want to see more of it after watching this - I was so surprised because I really didn’t expect how beautiful it is!
Hi Lea. This was an eye opening video for me. Until now my perception of Oman was that of a stark, dry, desert country. I had no knowledge of the diverse landscape and beautiful coastline. And also the rugged mountains, so amazing. I think you may have convinced many people to put Oman on their travel list. Thank you and I look forward to the rest of your documentary. Cheers and stay safe. Dan. ✌️🏍🇨🇦
I have to admit that for me it was kind of the same! Even though I knew that there are mountains I didn’t expect that much - but I was literally mind blown (I could have cried several time when riding because it was so beautiful 😅😅😅) because everything was so stunning and the riding was awesome and the people the nicest on this planet. 😳😍
WOW !! ,I found it amazing of the scarcity of people after the city's especially along the coast ,but lim glad for you it was like that ,no bad guys , thank you LEA .
I really think that there are not too many bad guys in oman - it’s such a safe country, the hospitality is just such a big part of the culture that everyone seems to learn this from small on, and everyone is super proud of their country and of the freindliness of the people.
One of the most beautiful and stunning video ever been made on Oman.. Even by Oman tourism .. Spectacular location, breathtaking arial shots, rich narration , the respectful words and appreciation for Omani people, culture, tradition.. 👍👌.. It truely created an emotional connection.. Enjoyed every bit of it..

Beautiful….. wow… Oman is without doubt worth a visit….
Definitely! Can highly recommend!

Thank you so much! 💃🏻
WOW !! ,I found it amazing of the scarcity of people after the city's especially along the coast ,but lim glad for you it was like that ,no bad guys , thank you LEA .
I really think that there are not too many bad guys in oman - it’s such a safe country, the hospitality is just such a big part of the culture that everyone seems to learn this from small on, and everyone is super proud of their country and of the freindliness of the people.
Amazing pictures! Thank you Lea! :)
