I learned this song in France about 26 years ago. Rocco Granata was born in the south of Italy, but resided most of his life in Belgium. Surprisingly this wasn’t even an A side on the single although it was his biggest hit, the A side was called Manuela. I played it a lot on the bar terraces of France, Spain, and of course Italy, when I was living and gigging in Europe.
Hello dear Moshe, thanks to your advices and skills, i will improve my playing of this beautiful song. The way your are playing rythm, here, gives more life than I could do before ! Thank you for sharing your experience !
I truly admire your knowledge and execution of each piece. You appear to have perfect pitch or close to it. Great teacher sir. I’m trying to learn how to play the accordion! A dream since the age of 4 but never had the opportunity! (I’m 76). My only experience is the trombone for 6 years. (The method of teaching was odd! ) ie was taught the position on the slide =the printed note. Ie: D was taught as 4th position and so on. I’ve had to teach myself to sight read by reading each note out loud in order to gain some acceptable speed. I still read music out loud!! It’s coming along ok....slow but a heck of a lot better than several months ago. Right now I’m just working on scales and fingering. After the snow melts here in superior,WI I plan to start lessons at the accordion museum.
Love this song, thanks very much for the tutorial. It's a real party tune. Andre Rieu has it as his final song at all of his concerts and there is a RUclips of him with Rocco Granata himself singing it at Maastricht if anyone is interested.
Graham McEwan Loved your video on learning "Marina". Have almost conquered it, basically, and am now learning the Italian words of the song. I brought up the 1959 version of Rocco performing "Marina", and studied it a few times till I got the tune in my head. Rocco had a wonderful smile when he was young. He seems to have lost it a bit at 84. Mine has improved, at 79-haha!
