Hope he watched that scene from Top-Secret! where they deliberately blow it at the very end (beginning?) by having the dog bark and draw attention to it before running backwards.
i did one of these once. it was brutal to memorize and i had the luxury that i was just lip-syncing to a forward-sung song. major kudos making it intelligible

This video was top of my feed and interrupted my brain while I was having a panic spiral. Thankyou Matt. It's different enough and requires a new way of thinking that just redirected me enough.
The folding by Alkaloid is a song that does this from the middle of the song onwards 😄 If you play the song forward, it tells one part of their story (the story has 9 songs, this is the last one yet, it's about a Dyson Sphere) and if you play it backards, it tells the story, but the lyrics still make sense (not all, but they all are lyrics). I am all Omega 😁
I love when he gets so angry he just summons a log to him telepathically. Truly, this man is too powerful to be left alone. His english could use a little work, too...although he sounded great at the beginning and end, weirdly enough
I've tried to do this too. It's easier in some other languages where the sound matches the letters more, whereas the spelling in English is kinda weird. Like how there is an E at the end of lake even though you're not saying it
This is the biggest breakthrough in the field of linguistic-comedy crossovers on RUclips the world has ever seen. Some might say that Matts fan base is not ready for such high brow science. His fans would say 'we are ready for enlightenment.'
So I'm bilingual english-french (english being my mother tongue), and started practising to do this in french. It took me a few weeks to manage to say basically anything I wanted (sentences and all) backwards. But then I tried to do it in english and no matter how I try I can barely get a word to sound kinda right. So props to you.
This video felt like some AI voice used in the wrong language. But honestly big props for finding out how to all those words backwards so it becomes somehow understandable
This sounds a bit like how G-man speaks in half-life 2. I wonder whether the actor copied some inflections heard in reverse speech to come up with that otherworldly delivery.
I watched most of the video reading the subtitles on screen, then at 1:51 I stopped reading them / looked away, the effect was dramatic, the speech become nonsense, no matter how many times I re-listen to that part I could not figure out what was being said, meanwhile I could understand the first part just fine even without the subtitles on re-listen, just reading the subtitles ones was apparently enough for my subconscious to have memorized how to decode the reverse speech, from this I'd argue the video isn't actually showing us successful reverse speech, but rather it is showing us the multi-modality of our own perception and how much our own brain lies to us
how much did he have to rehearse that, like for real that was impressive, either it was one take (which I think it was) which is super impressive or he managed to edit it so smoothly that i didn't notice any cuts, either way super impressive.

How tf do you even begin to do this
Start at the end and work backwards from there
i have a friend with a talent for backwards speaking
When you spend enough time wishing you could reverse time so your wife would come back, this skill comes naturally
Simple solution, record it forwards, reverse it, then *try* to make the sounds you hear
I'd learn the English phonetic alphabet for a starter and then go from there. Pretty basic grammar knowledge, I'd have thought.
