Sharpening BD1N - 600 Grit Cheap Waterstone Finish (see description)

- Sharpened up some BD1N steel today. It takes a clean apex readily and sharpens relatively easy, but holds an edge like much harder to sharpen steels. As you can see it will easily cut free standing phone book paper with as low as a 600 grit edge. I highly recommend it for kitchen use, especially for the price.

Glad to see you are still around. I am looking forward to more reviews.
Happy Holidays!
Thanks Barry! I’m around very much and every time I gear up to dive Dack into the channel something big happens in life like hurricanes, big moves, covid, etc. Hopefully we’re all done with that for now though and I can find more time to get these videos done! I’ve got a list of about 20 I’m ready to film! Thanks for sticking by the channel!
And happy holidays!
I'm very impressed with the BD1N steel in my PM3. Would be great in a kitchen knife!
These nexus knives are really great for the price. The edge holding on BD1N in the kitchen was honestly a bit shocking. I was expecting decent but they turned out to be fantastic. And this is coming from a super steel addict lol.
i like the way spyderco optimizes fine grained, low carbide steels. Lesser design-first companies have to kick out S35VN everything to do what simpler steels do.
Culteryandmore has a whole set if those nexus bd1n knives on clearance for $199 right now if anybody needs a set of good knives. Bd1n is an excellent steel.
can you teach me how to sharpen an s30v blade properly?
I was going to buy that kitchen knife never did .
They’re awesome knives! Underpriced honestly for how they perform.
What stone do you use?
