WOW!!! Great find SC just beautiful glad it was found before it was to late.
Please tell me I'm not the only one who thought that the thumbnail looked like a proper size weed nug
La D. Da yeah you do, try it
Looked like one to me also lol
Just a phenomenal find... Could tell by the look of it that it was pre-1700's but thats a new coin to me... Amazing piece!
Awesome on the farthing. I just found on 11/19/16 in Est Hampton, CT, 9" down a King William III copper farthing dated 1700. I did not even know what a farthing was until 10 days ago. I have it posted. Thanks for another great video. Keep them coming. Best of luck.
OMG ! What an awesome find ! Hope you find a way to preserve that 1666 ! Congratulations Greg , You did it Again Buddy !!
Congratulations! I have great joy when I find coins old about 2-3 thousands of years. The roman, or Celtic. Or our national, old about 1-1,3 thousand years.
The amazing finds are still out there and will be for many years to come. Ya just gotta keep at it. GREAT save!!! I recently found a beautiful 1782 1 Reale here in western Virginia. My oldest coin to date. Thanks for sharing.
Blown away!! Fantastic find man!!!! Thanks for sharing!
That is awesome! I had to watch that one again so I could show it to my husband! We like doing that metal detecting! Thank you for sharing! God bless!
That is the oldest farthing I have ever heard of let alone seen, what a wonderful find. I hope it doesn't flake anymore, thank you for sharing. Good luck 🍀 and happy hunting Mary-Ellen UK 🙋 👍
Holy Crap! That is unbelievable! I'm glad you pulled it out because it doesn't look like it would have lasted to much longer. Fantastic find buddy!
Congratulations Greg. You probably found one of the rarest coins that could be found here in the US. I've never even heard of that coin but now I'm a little smarter! Thanks for sharing and HH, Dave.
Now that's what I call "Saving History"! Awesome find! Sure hope it was with your trusty T2! Congratulations!
+Darren Padilla Yep!
Wow! Great find!!! Keep looking and videoing your time. Congrats!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Strange find for that area. From the 17th to the early 19th century in England these were commonly issued by merchants in times of acute shortage of coins of the state to enable trading activities to proceed. The token was in effect a pledge redeemable in goods but not necessarily for currency. These tokens never received official sanction from government but were accepted and circulated quite widely. Tokens would also normally indicate the merchant concerned, either by name or by picture. Thousands of towns and merchants issued these tokens between 1648 and 1672, when official production of farthings resumed and private production was suppressed.
Congrats on a super find! For sure in your top three to five list and as bucket lister at minimum! Thanks for sharing the moment!
Nice job ! They're still out there ...Go Dig Em! Congrats...

I was just about to tell you what it was, being into British medieval coin collecting, which then gave me a knowledge of World Wide historical coins both before and after medieval times too, then I saw you found out hehe! Great find, a big well done from me in England!
+RedCyanPhotos Thanks!
That is truly an amazing find! Congrats!
Awesome find. Congrats. GL&HH
That is awesome! I have never even heard of that coin let alone seen one.
Incredible coin! Congratulations!
Awesome find. I can't wait to go home on vacation and dig around Easley and Piedmont..
Very cool find. Thanks for sharing it.
Man oh man, what a great find. That is one old coin. Nice, really nice.
Saving History for Sure!! Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for sharing your adventure!!!! Nice coin find!!! Also it might sound crazy but the braided thing looks just like an old neckerchief slide. Thanks again!!!
WOW what a great find. That is freaking amazing!
like always nice video, the small coil on the t2 makes it deadly in a trashy site you and russ make a great team. by the way congrats on the coin and the banner on the forum
How thrilling--GREAT find!!
Great Find! That is absolutely amazing!
Amazing stuff, 1666, wish we had that history over here. top video!
Awesome dig, love the old stuff.
You might want to check with a local museum about conservation on the coin. Maybe they can stabilize it so it does not flake any more?Awesome find!
Wonderful find! Congratulations. And by the way, thanks for your startup video on the Fisher F-19. I just got mine and your video helped immensely.
+wadoman699 You're welcome! Good machine!
+Saving History ™ with SCdigger Took it out today to an old house site. Four wheats, the crown of some old jewelry with an aqua stone on it, and a neat 1920s token. My T2 now is my backup.
Awesome Greg! Congratulations!!!
I know this is an older video, but holy smokes! What an amazing find here in SC!
That is crazy. Awesome find
Military hat decoration/ button trim from 1800’s ? IT has a design too.
Great VID - Thanks
Astounding find; well done chaps. I assume that's not a Dorchester, UK coin, more likely from the US (Boston) town established in 1630? The SC 'Dorchester' settlement came much later, yes? Mindboggling that rare, small, frail coin survived to be discovered.
1666!!!!! MAN if that coin could talk!!! Thanks for sharing this video.
It'd prolly say it had been in the ground for a long time
LOL exactly. Oh man. It might be something like... "Well for starters..I was minted in 1666, then 2 months later I was dropped and slowly became one with the earth. 350 years later...I"m featured on a RUclips channel...WHATS RUclips?"
Gunther Ultrabolt Novacrunch yes!
Awesome
That is amazing, great find!
Wow! think the 3 emblems on the coin are called sugar loaves; an old fashioned symbol for a grocers store.
Which is exactly what he just said in the video, hmm, a mystery.
+budmeister oh yes- just watched again! you still see those outside v.old shops here sometimes.no offence intended.
I'm running a Tek D-4000 & I swear by that thing. It's not the deepest running unit but it can hunt circles around anything in the first 5" of topsoil. Love the Teknetics brand! Nice vid, thanks for the upload...
Other than a Deus XP!!!
I wouldn't know but I'll take your word for it until I know otherwise.
+MyLashlarue had a deus xp.
and wouldnt recommened it to anyone after using many other detectors.
OUTSTANDING!!!
Very cool. I'm in Hartsville SC. I do a little detecting here.
Super cool old find WOW
What an awesome find Sir..
Congrats! Amazing find.
I think the second thing you found was a coil of wire used for trapping. you can wrap wire like that so it doesn't get tangled in anything else and stores easier
Excellent find!!!!
What a fantastic find, congrats :)
Great find . I found a 1672 farthing in a British camp in coastal S.C.. keep Digging..
Man that is awesome brother I've been thinking of getting a detector
Do it man it’s worth every cent, it can get very frustrating with all the trash but once you start finding stuff it makes it worthwhile. I started off with a Garrett ace 300 and I highly recommend it, I’m now using a Garrett AT PRO and glad I made that investment, had it for 2 years now and it paid itself off in the first year. Just beware that it is addictive for most ppl
Nice, congratulations!
Awesome find! Gonna be tough to beat that one!
LOL....i thought that clump of dirt was a big bud.....i was excited for a second......lol
I like being out in the woods too with my detector....that looks good
When you first split the dirt open you can see what I believe is the 1666 part flake off.
Yep! That's where the date would have been :(
I think its 1773 or 1772 but what ever it is its old
2:20 looks like a champagne bottle cork cover mashed down.
@2:20 I'm thinking it's very inexpensive broach of only copper, or other similarly manipulable material. The tail end was probably bent to serve as the pin.
Congratulations on your finds
Awesome find Congrats
impressive find. congrats
Awesome find Congrats.
That is a great find ! By the way i love your intro
Amazing, well done indeed.
and with the T2.... wow amazing!
what a great find, I have yet to crack 1700s here in Wi.
That is a braided ring. They were found on shipwrecks off the northern coast of England from around the late 17th or early 18th century. Probably more recent than that. I have actually made a couple of these myself.
really cool find. I believe the braided thing is a broach.
I WOULD SLAP PASS OUT IF I FOUND SOMETHING THAT OLD. THAT WAS SO COOL. THAT HAD TO BE EXCITING. SUBED AND WILL BE WATCHING MORE.
What a very cool find, 1666 WOW!
We find a fair amount of 17th century tokens here in the UK. But what a great and unusual find for you, well done!
Great find guys !
Nice find SC

Big CONGRATZ Gregg!!!! I see you were using the 5" coil, AWESOME lil' thing. Mine stays on must of the time. Just curious what the depth was and what vdi you were getting? Once again WTG!!!!
