Hi Nathan, I have a question for you, and, first thank you for your marvelous Channel. I want a new bass (4 strings) and my favourites are CORT MODERN, PRS KINGFISHER and JACKSON SPECTRA PRO, in your opinioni wich Is the best? I PLAY ROCK and METAL with pick🙂🙂🙂🙂🙂
I've been scoping them Cort basses lately too. I used to see them once in a while as a kid, then never again. They're rare in the states and I wish that would change.
@@D14V0R05 i have a Dingwall ng2 and it's 37" for a regular gauge, higher gauge mess up with the clarity of your tone that's why there is no 5string in 32", and that's also why piano strings are not all the same size with just higher gauges
I love this thing!! I've been looking for a 24 fret super jazz bass to replace my Bacchus. This ticks every box EXCEPT the frets, I feel like I can never justify $1k+ bass purchases if they don't tick every single box on my list. For those that don't care about 24 frets though they're in for a treat, this is the best priced super jazz I've seen in a while
На него бывают скидки до 50% от $1000, я заказал 4 струный за ~$560. Если ищите на 24-лада, посмотрите Cort njs4 и 5, на них тоже бывают скидки, но он внешне не такой красивый как GB-Modern.
Well done Cort , this bass sounds fantastic and looks beautiful, In my opinion bass manufacturers and Bass builders are really stepping up there game, Because if they don’t they will get left behind that’s just how it is these days, the Quality has to be there same with the price £££
Cort basses have the best necks. Two things that keep me from buying another one: - I don't want an active bass. - Their top basses all have weird colours and wood finishes. Just make an awesome passive bass in white or black!
Awesome demo and review, Nate. 😎🤘🏻🎸 cort makes some really good sounding bass guitars. I’ve always liked their a5 and b5 basses. As for this cort bass, it sounds phenomenal. It looks and sounds like a modern jazz bass.
Is a 35" neck and well constructed...that is a good recipe for a good 5th string...But sadly you have to have big hands otherwise you'll be in trouble...
I had an Ibanez 35" BTB for a long time and sold it for a well constructed, roasted maple neck Sire Marcus Miller V5 which is 34", both single coils (granted, the BTB had split singles) . All I can say is that I kinda regret this decision because I really can't make the low B (and the E string to some extent) to sound as tight and as thick as my BTB without making the sound too artificial, even with some HEAVY parametric EQing . I also tried changing string gauges many times, but I always ended up with some compromise of some sort. Heavy B string (135) = Open string and the 3 first frets sounded great but the rest of the fretted notes sounded like straight A$$. Light B string (120)= Notes starting from the 5th fret sounded ok but anything lower than that sounded like a floppy mess, even with an attempt at adjusting my technique. Eventually found a happy medium with a 125 B but overall clarity is meh. On my BTB, this wasn't much of a problem. 130 B sounded perfect on it, but you could even put a 120 B and still have a tight open B while having superb definition on the upper frets. I recently played my dad's Sire M2 which has a 35" scale and double humbuckers and this might be the best low B string I ever played, sounding even more defined than my BTB even though it has a non finished plain maple neck unlike my V5. Just my 2 cents, but I'm convinced that scale length, then pickups, and then maaaaaaybe construction have an influence on how a B string sounds like ALL ACCROSS the fretboard.
Is this using a 4 inch 70's spacing or 3.6 inch 60's spacing? It almost sounds like 70's, but almost sounds like a mix of the two, like a hybrid 3.8 inch spacing that is neither 60's nor 70's
I bought this bass and returned it, I couldn't get used to 19 mm spacing + 35" scale. I also didn't like the neck dive. But as far as sound, fretwork and overall build quality, it's 10 out of 10.
@@AlexandarShmex Thanks, I have hand problems --- having to hold the neck up and fret notes at the same time is problematic. Kind of a shame too, the bass looked like it nailed a lot of things that I desired in a bass.
@@matthewlunsford4351 I've had the same issues, especially when seated, it makes slapping very difficult. It's a shame that about 80% of basses aren't properly balanced. I had a cheaper Cort B4 which was balanced PERFECTLY, but basses that are many times more expensive aren't balanced...
I think I'm getting tired of jazz bass sounding basses, this one seems to be very versatile, great sounding example. Not a big fan of the B string though
@@EddSjo Spectors, Warwicks, and if you can afford it, any multi scale bass have good low b strings. They are all pretty hard to find under $500 though😫
I'm also a fan of Cort basses, it also looks great, but I don't like the sound of the pickups. Too lax. Thanks anyway for introducing the instrument. I'm more interested at the Eventide
I think so. The bass that he plays in that video is exactly the same that‘s shown on Cort‘s website. Not only the same model, but the exactly same bass.
My hands cramp too. I think water, bananas (potassium), and heat will help. Also probably more frequent practice. They make hand warmers with rechargeable batteries now, I might invest in those ($20 on amazon).
Thanks for checking out my demo of the GB-Modern 5!

As always. You never disappoint with your reviews. Top notch!
Much appreciated!
Cort basses are amazing. I love the value for money. I have an ultra ash a5 and love the diversity of the bass
I have the same exact Bass, I freaking love it, it's amazing and very comfortable to play. This is how a modern day jazz bass should be.
Production quality of your videos is on another level

That b string sounds awesome
@@valendis 😂 It's all personal preference
No
@@justice3freegot that bass, it has a great sounding low B
It is pretty nice that the 5-strings version of this bass is a 35" (4-strings is 34") scale to give that low B string the tension that it needs :D
It needs 37 lol
@@bap6te557 Not really unless using a higher gauge, otherwise 35-36" should be plenty for a fiver AFAIK.

Great playing. Fantastic bass👍🏻
those pops are so stinkin crisp!
Looks and sounds fantastic
What a helpful video...great in playing and production. Thanks a lot from someone in Belgium ..
Hey Nate, do you know the weight and string spacing at the bridge?
That B string sounds so damn tight. Must be the playing.
i doubt you can have so much influence on that with just your playing. the Pickups and some EQing help more

Sounds really good in this video. Any issues with noise when soloing either pickup?
Nope, all good there. Thanks for watching. 😁
My question too! Noise free pups is worth the negligible tone trade, which my ears can't distinguish😂😂😂
Nordstrand makes the best bass pickups in the world and you can't change my mind.
I love absolutely everything they make. Good people too

Too damn good.
A 5-string demo that actually plays the B string. Man, reviewers nowadays are so shit I'm surprised by this lol.
