I have a question. What's the best way to mix soft female vocals with drums and the piano without the vocals being drowned out? I have issues with having my vocals loud enough in the mix while having the instruments loud enough while my vocals are not being drowned out.
I have a question. What's a simple way to mix background vocals? I got feedback on another song I'm working on, and someone said I mixed my background vocals a little too loud.
not a bad short idea -- essentially all I do is put a high pass and a low pass on it and make a wide bell curve cut a few dB in the center. it will slightly muddy up the BGV so they don't cut through as much. more reverb than the lead to push it back in the mix.
good rule of thumb for females is 150 hz. But an easy way is to have your vocal solo playing. Then increase the HPF until you actually HEAR it affecting your voice then back off until you no longer hear it affecting. the goal is to cut the low mud that has no sonic helpfulness to your performance/production
Yay! I love these vocal videos.

i'd have to hear an example - but try a large/soft bell curve cut wherever your vocals sit on the piano and drums. only a few dBs.

Maybe you can do a short? 😁

For a female with a soft voice, what should she set her high pass filter to?

You still have the eyeball filter, I see. 😁
