I had a dream where two characters were talking about the nature of consciousness. They were debating it both philosophically and scientifically. What they didn’t realise was that they were dream characters and that the consciousness they were talking about was mine. It was hilarious.
Very very good. The nondualists and the philosophers really need to sit down for some proper televised chats. Maybe invite inquisitive scientists, mathematicians and others as well. We all have a great deal to learn from each other. The nondualists have a lot to bring to the table in terms of elucidating the experience of a subjective inner life/world. This, I feel, is the crux of the matter. In fact, one might point out that there is no other "life" in the traditional sense of the word.
Words are labels. How somebody came up with the word consciousness or God we don't know. Many of the awakened are trying to explain the unexplainable. Experiences which are beyond words. 🤔
Scientists and philosophers use the term 'consciousness' to denote the constituents and dynamics that gives rise to experience. What is the necessary stuff to have an experience, and how does it work. The theories that help us understand things on smaller scales (quantum mechanics), cosmic scales (relativity) and the diversity of life (evolution by natural selection) have very little to say about 1st person experience. There's an explanatory gap here, and this is what the 'hard problem of consciousness' is all about.
If something is entirely synonymous with its content, then the distinction between the thing itself and the content “contained within it” is meaningless 😜
Thanks Richard ,always something new in your talks

The answer is obvious but only if you don’t think about it. 💥

Perhaps consciousness is the fabric of the universe. All and nothing, unconditional love.

👍😊
Direct Experience of phenomena yes, what about emptiness? That seems to be an experience too.
Excellent !
Consciousness is the mind which is its content..you are your content, consciousness, the unconscious is within consciousness..

when you are here the world is here.
Dancing Emptiness
Engrossing!
