I've had the joy to drive one of these babies regularly, that V8 roar is intoxicating and the cab is the best laid out and the most comfortable. The Scania eats miles like it eats diesel. I've made sure that I get rostered onto one of our V8s. Best gearbox too, it's so smooth. Yeah I have a classic V8 addiction and even when it's -100 outside I still have the window open to hear that V8 sing

It's so satisfying, and because it's such a big capacity and exhaust, the sound is very bassy and deep. Incredible engine! Even better when they are bogged down dragging weight uphill.
What sends shivers up my spine with Scanias, is the spool down sound. People in the US like the jake brakes, but until you've heard the sound of an open piped Scania changing gears, sounding like it's sucking down the entire atmosphere of the planet, you haven't heard a mean sounding truck.

Iveco stralis does the same. Factory exhaust with cat, dpf, adblue.. But that spooling is super violent. So much louder than the engine itself 😀. Even that the quality is almost non existing, you gotta love that truck ❤️

Oh this took my back when I was a truck driver... I have fond memories from driving on and off various ferries during warm summer nights... Travemünde, Hoek van Holland, Esbjerg, Helsingborg, Harwich...just to mention a few. Met a lot of nice truck drivers and enjoyed life... I might be going back to do that again, I thoroughly miss it :)

Here in Australia me and me uncle drive a Scania142M carting grain. The V8 in the truck we drive is such a great sound! Sounds like the truck at 4:25! The attention we get is incredible! Everyone just looks at ya! Also here in Australia in trucks ya don't need to wear seatbelts.

Smooovie 1337 That's the newer dc16 engine found in newer model scania trucks like the 2012 r series. The previous generation was the dsc14 engine found in older scanias like the 140, 141, 142, 143 ,144 ,145 and maybe a couple more.

At 6:48 of this video you hear the most orgasmic sound on earth produced by a truck ! Nothing compares to that sound , that sound first hit my ears at age 12 , in high-school , it was coming from an old Scania 143m with "nose" ( not the straight front , the other with the long hood ) double straight up pipes , i couldn't hear my teacher anymore for about 30 seconds ...that was it i was instantly in love with that sound ! Now i am 40 , i still don't drive one cause of an accident but i am in love with trucks forever !
T cab is the one with the hood, normal ones are spec with letters, m, h, and g. The ones with hood are called T. They no longer make T and H cabs, most of these are found in my home country, Brazil

I love the Scania V8. You can literally hear them a couple of miles away. They are powerful and insanely reliable. The Volvos spent more time being towed back home than they did pulling trailers back when I was in charge of IT at a haulage firm a few years ago. These Scanias are probably the best lorries you can get your hands on.
Until Euro 6 came at least. The whole exhaust system, well, the AdBlue stuff at least, causes problems en mass.

I love the sound of big V-8's. In the U.S. today every and all heavy-duty truck engines are 6-cylinder. The Cat 3408, Cummins VT-903 and the Mack V-8 are no longer offered.
it's mostly V6 here in Germany i think. R450 is probably the most common Scania semi here. the rest is a lot of MAN TGX, DAF and Volvo FH

I sometimes meet a T500 on my daily commute, and see it driving past my workplace sometimes. Its all blacked out, a few tasty darkened gold leaf accents and chrome often pulling a superpolished blackframed stainless tipper.

Whats the deal with this truck at 9:13 with short container box in place of 5th wheel? Looks like permanent fix but with no trailer hitch nor removable attachment... home made V8 camper or wtf? :)
That truck got fucked up real bad... It once used to belong to the flower transporter company Kees van der Meer, but now it's pretty much destroyed...
that “box” can be like set up on 4 poles and be decoupled , but in its current state its made for circusses.
We used to do things like this to these trucks. Sometimes it would involve cutting the chassis in half and elongating it to accommodate a larger box or a crane between the cab and 5th wheel. In almost every case these boxes are on hydraulic rams and can be easily removed (That's what the holes are for on every corner) and the 5th wheel bolted back on. In a lot of them they pull drag trailers behind so they can still be used to transport things rather than behind a glorified mobile office/sleeper box.

In my opinion, that freaking V8 is something you can keep hear, like P51 Mustang plane, who whistling.
Being from Sweden where Scania comes from, i have seen and heard many of the V8s and the loud ones shakes your entire body when they drive past under load, it’s such a brutal sound and experience

I onced had this engine in a freaking IFV (CV90) and drove around! Best 8 month's of my life
This is my 1st rated favorite engine and my 2nd rated was used on a truck called CAMC. Nothing much I can find on youtube (except most videos are filmed at Malaysia and Indonesia because its mostly used out of the city). This CAMC truck engine was described by my friend "a ghost truck" because when it reached certain speed and higher it produced a whining-like sound. Not a turbocharger sound nor a supercharger. Trucks are very interesting
