Terrific interview. Tommy asks questions and lets the lady just go on! She sounds like the kind of person society desperately NEEDS in politics. I will have to look her up, to see how she is doing now.
"It's not about giving them hope, because you can have hope for the rest of your life and still have nothing - it's about giving them opportunities, access and levelling out the playing field". The immediacy and clarity with which she responded this was powerful. Such an astute individual, combining ambition, determination and a social conscience. As trite as it may sound, she's a true inspiration.
Lynn Ruane, you are an inspiration! I’m only down the road from you in Clondalkin, well I was( long story) your ma and da must be so proud of you, bless your heart ♥️
She is very articulate, well spoken and direct. Too many politicians skirt around topics but Lynn goes direct to the pulse of a topic. If only more politicians could be like Lynn. I recommend her interview on the Blindboy podcast also.
Always admired Tommy as a comedian but now in addition watching a number of his shows on RUclips I have to say I admire him as well as a person. His curiosity, his honesty and in cases such as this his compassion.
The Tommy Tiernan Show is one on the best Chat shows I’ve ever watched, he’s a natural at getting people to open up and talk because he’s genuine and witty. Then you have tuberty 🙄
Lynn has lived in the community she seeks to serve. In this short interview she manages to nail the cause of much social misery. If all you've got is what has been put upon you then what choices do you have? Misery breeds misery until care and belief finds its way. We are all looking for love and recognition and we'll take it wherever we find it. All well and good to look on and shake our heads but we all pay the price of indifference.
I find it very scary alot of Ireland's middle and upper class don't have a clue of what working class people from deprived cummunties have been phycologicaly and systematically put through. In my opinion poverty and inequlaity is no differnt than domestic abuse and as we know the abuser blame's the victom and the victom blames themselves for their owm demise.
What an impressive woman! Best of luck to her but, that part about facing things straight on and Tommy’s “That’s how you got....” made me laugh so much!!
Lynn: "When somethings up against me I don't dodge it" Tommy: "That's how you got pregnant" HAHAHA FUCKING GENIUS. Nice one Tommy. Joking aside, VERY well said, she is well educated and knows the situation well.
I admire this woman greatly but I don't agree with everything she's saying. If you spend money on drugs you won't have enough for food. If you want to become a vet it's not about who you know. I know someone who wants to be a vet who repeated the Leaving Cert 4 times but still didn't get enough. I don't know how they'll break the cycle of violence in homes ... that's horrific to think of a child witnessing. My children all wore hand me down and second hand shop clothes.
Well Ian with respect I learned alot from the human condition, you sound uncomfortable n you're life, good luck and be well you are naive and you have a problem looking at reality.
i like irish people, but the majority of irish accents are a little too much. in today's, global world, it feels a bit anti-social and parochial to have such...comical? bizarre? accents.
As usual, Tommy's wonderful. And this woman? Utterly fantastic.

Ms Ruane is so eloquent and passionate ... Tiernan gives her as much time as she needs, to get her message across. Top interview.
She's brilliant, great strength and intelligence, honesty, a born leader

Tienan never ceases to amaze me! He's top drawer! He's in the company of giants, such as Billy Connolly.
She's an inspiration.. I've seen her speak before and she is just an inspiration!
@Eugene, have a look at this one: mind-blowing in my opinion: ruclips.net/video/fk4UXAsWU8Q/видео.html

Would better urban planning help avoid these social problems? Have basketball etc accessible?
"When something's up against me I don't dodge it"
"That's how you got pregnant" 🤣🤣🤣 BRILLIANT TOMMY 🤣🤣🤣
And the she says, "I didn't do anything" 🤣🤣🤣
What an impressive woman! Best of luck to her but, that part about facing things straight on and Tommy’s “That’s how you got....” made me laugh so much!!

Tommy: "That's how you got pregnant"
HAHAHA FUCKING GENIUS. Nice one Tommy.
Joking aside, VERY well said, she is well educated and knows the situation well.
😂😂
You can become an apprentice and build up your levels. Where you come from should nor define, limit or excuse you
And trinity college has access programmes
Brilliant.
I credit Simon Harris for promoting apprenticeship
Extremely impressive
I assume shes talking about the Gaeltacht when she says a more fluent area?
Affluent was the word she used.
She said affluent
She's dynamite. Love it.
Who knows what's the brand boots he wearing in this show??
Thank God for subtitles.....
Tallaght has talent but the powers that be treat us like scum since birth..
Sorry, but NO ONE ever ate their cornflakes out of the sink.
Wow, she is what we need in power she gives a shit. IMM behind her.
Great girl 👍
Taking drugs is a personal choice
A pretty girl with the prettiest accent.

Don't blame you're shit on us paddy
