Yea rule of nines video is great. Also Mara effect live at silverside studio is a masterpiece
Spiritbox "The Mara Effect at Silverside Studios", a masterpiece
Their newest single "Circle with me" is, to me, the to date culmination of this bands journey until now. Then again, like some others I still recommend checking out 'older' songs like "Trust Fall". With the (deserved) hype they got in the last one and a half years, songs like that almsot feel like hidden gems now.
Gotta check out Rule of Nines and Perennial
Courtney writes on top of the musical composition. Mike (her husband) is the guitarist and writes the bass and drum parts, too. They have lots of variety in their work! Check out The Mara Effect at Silverside Studios.
Ahhh, that makes sense. I can't find a single thing that I don't like about them. Stunning all round! I'm in love with all of the ingredients they have! Definitely going to be listening to more of them. 👍🎶
since Billy (bassist) joined the band he writes the bass lines.
@@Mr-ks5kl he's also doing backup vocals now as well.
Man, you're gonna love Rule of Nines by this band. Oh, and Trust Fall too.
They've got a brand new song which is great. Circle With Me
I'm going to jump on the Rule of Nines request train. Great hearing your analysis and break down of theirs and others music 👍 new sub for sure!
Great comments. Good discussion about space, as their expertise/skill is just so apparent, but not in a flashy way (at least here). Digging the Spiritbox journey. Cheers!
Absolutely. Cheers. I love that about the band so far!
@@JWSoundworks2 They do that in most songs, SB totally uses silence as an instrument, which I love... the list of examples is long: Rule of Nines, Belacarra, Bleach Bath... just to name a few
@@TheChzoronzon looking forward to checking those songs out soon as well!
@@JWSoundworks2 Even in Holly Roller they do that! with that couple of deafening silences near the end of the song, and Courtney with the hair on fire... :D
@XavierMacX if you want to see Mike’s flashy side on guitar, check out his first band, Fall In Archaea.
Holy fuck. I haven't even watched the video yet.. but that intro... My.... God. More of that please!! :D. That little chorus type section man. I am going to end up listen this on repeat lol
Ah cheers man!! ❤️🎶👍
Circle with me is my favorite song of theirs
Yes, Mara Effect live at Silverside Sound please.
Check out Belcarra next. Dont see as many reactions to that one by Spiritbox and it's definitely my favorite. Heaviest song of theirs.
Thanks for the suggestion!
Yeah Courtney has said in a recent interview that Tesseract was a big influence on them, especially in their older tracks (which I highly recommend). Her voice only gets better the more you go digging. "Perennial" or "Trust Fall" would be my picks for no.3 to get a sense of how O.G Spiritbox sounds, so to speak 😉
Check out "The Mara Effect"! It`s a three song composition and there are two live versions: In one peace at Silver-something(?) Studios but Spiritbox did a Covid-recording as well in three pieces! 👍
yes.got the tesseract vibe also.
They mention Tesseract as a huge influence... and also Deftones. And Kate Bush! (I think now I know where those Belacarra little dances came from haha)
Edit: I was thinking precisely of Wuthering Heights...which Warren Huart has a video about too! and we went full circle, lol
That intro was hot af! Looking good as always! 🖤
Thanks! 🖤
Love the intro!
Reraction vids are great for finding music. Opeth has been one of my favourite bands for the last 20 odd years, but with reaction video's I have found Nightwish and Jinjer which are right up there. Just started listening to Spiritbox this week.
Some I think you would really dig are:
Aeryon - The Day The World Breaks Down
Epica - Sancta Terra (Live)
Keep up the good work.
Thank you, Sam. Big Opeth fan here, too, for around the same length of time as yourself. Ayreon has been requested a few times now. Definitely going to check them out!

Great reaction 😊🤘🏻
Cheers, dude ! 🤘
I think you would appreciate the guitar work in their newest song called secret garden. Really busy work in a very chill song
Have you heard *The Warning* ? They are 3 sisters from Mexico whose cover of Metallica’s Enter Sandman went viral in 2014 (22+ million views) and again just last month with another 7.9 million on Facebook. They just finished recording their 3rd album and Spector will release a Signature Series bass in the name of the *16-year old* bassist. Try something like Dull Knives or Sinister Smiles or The End, preferably from their channel.
You do marvelously well (ey, Warren!) focusing in the music... it makes me nervous when people keeps comenting the music AND the video... or even worse, also reading the lyrics at the same time... and obviously missing a lot in all departments. Your expertise field is music, and I'm here for that... and you going back every pause demonstrates more respect for the song and the composition than 90% of reactions in YT. Well done, mate
Thanks dude! There's usually so much information to process on a first listen that I'll inevitably end up missing stuff. I could quite happily sit with my eyes closed listening to new music. Instrumentation is always what primarily grabs me so the visuals and lyrics end up being lower down on my radar. By the 3rd or 4th listen I'm picking up more on that stuff. Glad you're enjoying what I'm doing here! 👍🤘
P. S. Just got the Warren Huart reference ! The man is a legend. Love his videos!
@@JWSoundworks2 ;)
Yes, he is doing a great work on his channel, isn't he? and the people he interview are the best
As I hear you playing I think you`ll appreciate Jinjer`s "Ape" and "Home Back" very much. But of course you`re never wrong at choosing any Spiritbox song... 😁🤘
Thanks dude, hoping to get another Jinjer one done soon! 😊👍
This is one of my favorite songs from Spiritbox :) You should check out Rule of Nines, Beauty of Suffering, and their new song Circle with Me, they just released it about 2 hours ago. Mara Effect is pretty good too, I prefer Mara Effect pt 3.
Mike did all of the instrumentation writing up until Bill joined the band (he consulted on stuff prior to officially joining), and they’ve had different drummers consult on the songs at different times. Courtney is the primary lyricist, so it’s a collab of “husband and wife” sorta deal.
I think you would really enjoy their song "Circle With Me."
Their guitarist, Mike Stringer, is an absolute master of the Aristides 07. He utilizes its crazy sustain to turn pick scraping into an actual melodic feature. Perhaps the most impressive thing about his playing, for me, is his use of the volume knob. I didn't realize until watching some of his many play through videos on RUclips, but a lot of the atmospheric elements of their music come from his manipulation of volume. I don't think I've seen another contemporary guitarist use this technique as successfully as he does.
One more thing to blow your mind - their drummer, Zev Rose, is only 19 years old...
I've been wanting a go on one of those Aristides guitars for a while now - I'm a massive Ihsahn fan and he's been playing them for a bit now. Beautiful instruments!
@@JWSoundworks2 I hate to say it, but I never looked into Ihsahn post-Emperor. I should fix that. I'm not great at guitar by any means (usually stick to piano), but I would love to try out a Timo Somers signature Aristides 060. That is one beautiful guitar, sonically and visually.
Great reaction 👍🏻 "rule of nines“would be a great next one ,"constance “is another great one(its heavy but in a different way).my favourites are "bleach bath” ,"electric cross “.
Or wait until a new song because they’ve started hinting at a new single on instagram.new album out this year🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻👍🏻
Nice one!! Must keep an eye out for that. Cheers for the suggestions and kind words! 👍
Please check out live Spiritbox performances
Courtney Laplant is Awesome…Circle With Me is an amazing track…I prefer her vocals over Tatiana Shmailyuk of Jinjer…That’s not to diminish Tatiana’s Takent…Too bad this band is grossly overlooked & underrated…Check out Spirit box xmSirius Liquid Metal…3 part Live sessions…Chthonic Symphonic Death Metal band out of Taiwan…Relentless & Intense…They incorporate Traditional instruments & sing in their native language…
