Definitely a 4 speed box in this. You can count the gearchanges in the video. Interesting that these buses had 4 speed Voiths as I was under the impression there wasn't enough space to fit the larger 4 speed Voith box into an Olympian......
+慧能陳 should make it better on fuel economy with 4 gears. in the uk some of our volvo olympians have cummins L10's in them 3 speed voith but with a high speed diff 62mph no problem. not as fast as these but does the job

It's a 3-speed unit, although Northern did have four with 4-speed gearboxes. These buses could fairly shift once they got going!

and then 3:05 3 to 2
