Listening to Jaime is like watching a Tarantino movie. Dude is fountaining with meaningful information as if he has a couple of speechwriters. Love it. More Jaime!
Drove through Byson city and got a look at Hazel's place! Looks like the spiral staircase is done! Jaime was filming inside and can't wait for that video. Great art next door.
My wife and I stopped at Silva one day and they were doing a free blugrass concert downtown at the park. It was super nice to see all the kids playing and hear some good music
Been following numbers on you guys as far as uploads and the frequency of views and you boys are killing it, that’s what happens when you DO THINGS RIGHT. Great role models, quality work, I’m sure there are quarrels on the site and tempers flare but y’all are a great crew and highlight the point of having fun while still being productive. My son found you guys because he wanted to know what I did at my job which we own Aspen Construction and Remodeling in Stillwater, Oklahoma and he is the one that got me hooked on you guys. I’ve always told him you never no everything and I can say I learn something from you guys every video. Thanks boy, cheers.
@@PerkinsBuilderBrothers I found it interesting they didn't give him an "index finger" and am curious why (if he's willing to discuss it). Noticed the carbon fiber material. Pretty cool technology!
I would like to hear more about Jamie’s prosthetic fingers, I also lost three fingers three weeks ago and it’s a struggle but thank God it’s healing fast
Jaime is pretty impressive with his knowledge of flashing and all things construction. No slam on Eric, who has many impressive skills but just different in many ways. Great team bothers.
I just found your channel! Well I guess your channel found my feed recommendations! And I clicked 👍🏼a couple days ago, and glad to say I could watch and listen to you and your crews banter all day everyday! But maybe it's the 35+ years of custom home builder experience Being remembered, with everything you are doing! Luckily for me I still have all ten fingers, keep up the awesome work! And stay safe! Your Team Work ethics's is a blessing to the future home owners! Be Blessed always from Utah!
I really don't get why people dislike if u don't like it don't watch it its not hard, keep up the amazing work I aways can't wait to see your notification
Perkins Brothers, Love your videos. You get a lot of work done ,and have fun doing it. Reminds me of my own company building and remodeling and crew was made up of people not related but we all worked together and had fun as we worked. Keep your videos coming. This old retired builder still wishes he was still doing it. John in Missouri Valley, Iowa
I love how you guys work and explain things. I also am a carpenter and you guys make my job sites boring compared to the views you guys have! Good luck love to see this build come together
Need to go to town and get My BCO Hat , Go great mid August camping in Maine with my Beeccaaa !!..Shirt... Bionic fingers lookk Great..As does The Hazel House..Jamie needs a secret open house tour !!! :)
For some time I was watching The Crazy Framer from up north in Canada. great content, but I haven't seen a vid from the young lad for months, and I needed some building vids to enjoy and learn from. Liked this one muchly so I are subscribed.
Great job guys, but I do have a question? It took me a second but I notice with all your floor joists you notched them out instead of using joist hangers. Is there a specific reason for not using joist hangers?
As always, another great video chock full of useful information and humor. Thanks for the hard work guys (both in construction and post production [minus the foot monster post])! :)
I purchased some wall jacks (about $320 for a pair) a few years ago and they are one of the best investments I made. 24ft sheathed walls from the floor to upright by myself with no issues. Get some.
Many different designs for each type of project are also included. For example, there are hundreds of designs ruclips.net/user/postUgkxb2mhCug-GkCWrq69Ce2I0nM0D4QpxAqu for outdoor buildings, from small sheds all the way up to a complete stable. Choose whatever type of shed or storage house is right for you. Pick from fancy ones or more utilitarian designs.
Watching these videos have gotten me to think of a lot of different building projects. I can do none of them at present (and probably not future) but that has never stopped me from thinking before. For instance, many ecology enthusiasts advance the idea of using old tires and old bottles to build a house, citing that it requires up to 30% less new materials. Would you ever consider building a house out of old tires and glass or plastic bottles? If someone asked you to do it, I mean? Alternately, would you ever consider attempting to build a house exactly the way houses were built 150 years ago? That is, using raw tongue-in-groove timbers, plaster over horse-hair walls, etc. Of course, electricity and plumbing would still have to be included, but only the very first functional ones, from, say, the late 19th century. Would you be willing to do that? Just to see what it was like? The historian in me would love it. BTW, speaking of historical builds, did you know there is a project that has been going on in France in which a team of historians are building a castle exactly the way it would have been built in the 12th or 13th century? They are in the 21st or 22nd year of what is expected to be a 25 year project. It's called Guedelon Castle (BTW, Guedelon is pronounced, funnily enough, "git-along"). If you look it up on RUclips, there's even a series that follows it for one year. I think that was filmed during the 15th or 16th year of the project. It's really fascinating. I also follow them on Facebook, facebook.com/Guedelon Anyway, it's great to see Jaime back and to see the initial unveiling of his hand (I'm also following the current build; I watch these because I think they all have original points of interest), as well as just watching as you tackle another home.
If you ever build a DelTEC, that tool for drawing the plates together will come in handy. I was wishing I had one as I assembled my house in South Dakota
@@PerkinsBuilderBrothers I'd never done one and it really wasn't that tricky. they give you an assembly manual. If you follow it, things come together. the sub floor is precut. Once you have your floor joists sitting loosely on the mud sills, you put the first course of sheathing on loosely with a screw in the outer corners. It will line everything up.
You have a good team of lads working for you.. that actually seem to enjoy what yous do.. im in Ireland and its a nightmare to get good lads to work .. i don't see many young people coming into the trades.. we will have a shortage of workers to do the jobs especially the harder trades..
Why don’t you leave a gap in between the ledger and the sheathing on the house for water flow? I’ve been using Deck2Wall spacers (I call them hockey pucks) to get the spacing. Thanks
G'day fullas. Nice to see Jaime's hand! I'm curious about something. You're using a ledger band on this one. This looks like somewhere you'd normally use joist hangers. Any particular reason for the change on this one?
Love all Perkins builder videos, thank you and please keep em rollin in! I had the same question as Scott and Ontario. Any insight y’all want to share?
Being a retired union carpenter, I've rotohammered enough anchor bolts for this lifetime and the next, and the reason why the rotohammer you have is making so much noise is that somewhere around the 90's the engineers figured out that the impact forces needed to be multiplied way up to help concrete be drilled easier. Remember the old drills you could almost count the times the hammer was hitting. Now it's got to be 20 times more.
The Hand MP Prosthetics can you carry a load with that just started watching this channel other videos I had seen a glimpse of it I though it was a Glove . Hopefully it’s Great .
Good to see Jamie and his rambling talk which all makes perfect since
Hopefully we hear more about Jamie’s bionic fingers!! Looks good boys
It’ll be a long story, I’m sure !!
What happened?

Exposition dumps. The universal sign of bad film making.

Thanks Mark! Jaime is so glad to be done with that thing and it turned out amazing
Jamie's long winded talks are what this job has been missing!
Oh, I wouldn't call them long-winded. I think of them as detailed lectures.

You have to do a video on that hand! So sick. Jamie’s basically a Jedi master now.
Jeez that view looks incredible.
Thats totally awesome for Jamie! Every time I use my jointer, I think of his accident. His story and recovery is inspiring! Rock on Jamie!
Thanks Randall! Really appreciate it
My father inlaw lost fingers the same way when he was high school. Glad technology is advancing to help get injured folks back to some normalcy.
How did he lose his fingers?
