It’s a great lens! And now Nikon finally has one like it. Canon tried to one up them and released a 200-800 but it is not as sharp as the Sony and Nikon budget 600mm zoom lenses.
Love the colors in the background of those tufted titmouse shots. Great contrast. I still haven’t gotten a shot of one of myself. I hear them all the time but they’re very shy.
If there are any local parks feeding with bird feeders, you can cheat a little and get some shots of the birds staging in trees near by. They usually gather, wait, then swoop in get a seed and go back. Also winter in OH. We have some local parks that can you can take unshelled bird peanuts and hand feed chickadees and titmouse. Find the bird, hold your arm out and be still. They will come in and land on your hand. Only works in winter when food is scarce.
fill you always take beautiful shots of burns and I love how you talk about your experience getting them. I’m curious do you ever play song calls on your phone to attract birds or do you just use your eyes to find them? Thanks, Karen.
Nice video Phil! I know you've already blown your camera budget this year but if you ever get a chance to borrow a Sony A7RV and try it with the crop mode on that Sony 200-600 I would love to see the results. Seriously considering that setup in place of my Canon R5/R7 & 100-500mm kit. The 26mp in Crop and 61mp FF all in one camera is attractive, just wondering how the AF works in comparison to the canon setup. As always looking forward to your next release! Thanks for sharing.
@@PhilThach Thank you - really looking forward to it. We dont have those here so it will be a treat. When I was in Washington, it was a treat to see the swans they have there that we dont. I felt silly being so excited. 🙏🤗💖
@ thanks Phil, I was torn between a6700,Nikon z50ii, and the R7. I think the R7 has the best autofocus but the worse lens selection in terms of price to performance.
@@patricklacson it depends. For today’s shoot, I was not using the tripod. Sometimes I balance the lens on the door sale of the car. But I do use a tripod sometimes it just depends on the situation.
Hey Phil, question for you. Which in your opinion has better image quality for landscape, the Sony A6700 or the Canon R7? I'm just curious cause I'm in the market for APS-C. Great video.
Hi Phil, Do you shoot the a6700 with electronic or mechanical shutter? I don’t recall a specific video on the subject and I searched titles and couldn’t find one… any feedback or recommended videos would be appreciated. I love your shots and I shoot Sony FE, it’d be so cool to put it on my 200-600 and just leave it on as a bird-only setup. Thus- I’m curious! Thanks!!!
Thank you! I use electronic shutter for perched birds, but for birds in flight, I switch it over to mechanical to eliminate rolling shutter in the background.
The 6700 and 200-600 is my main wildlife set up and it does not disappoint.
Great shots Phil. A beautiful morning for bird photography
Thank you, Adrian!
That 200-600 seems like lots of fun to use. So crisp. Love that sparrow shot at 8:07!

I was gonna ask if you were using a Tripod. But you answered that in the video. Love the low angle shots of the birds.

time to head to Hiwassee. will do so to compare RF100-500 to RF200-800 next week. hope to see you there.
I may be there this coming Sunday and Thursday as well.
Hi Phil, cool shots of the tree. I love the tufted titmouse. Thank you.
Thank you, Pam! You are the first one to comment about the tree pictures, which I was pretty happy with.
5:43 did you manage to get a shot of the Great White Fisherman?
Great shots! So strange seeing the Hiwassee wildlife area with not Sandhill cranes
@@ses4vols thank you! It’s strange to be down inside it instead of back at the gazebo area.

Have you shot sports with the 200-600?

Thank you! Yes, I do occasionally use audio to help with bird photography. The birds in this video do not respond well to audio, but some do.

Could to tell how DMF is working on a6700 with sony 200-600 in af-c?
I'm thinking if its worth to change sigma 150-600 to sony
I'm not sure what DMF is but I can tell you that I enjoy the a6700 200-600 combo as seen in this video.
Great Shots Phil..Were those little Tufties hand held?
@billhallsongs thank you! The one’s pointing up are handheld the ones pointing down I rested the lens on the door sill of the car.

Do you find the a6700 and 200-600mm has better autofocus than the Nikon z50ii with the 180-600mm?
