      As a microbiologist I can say: Maybe if all the microbial quality indicators stay under their thresholds for at least two or three days they can resume the OW events.
      But also, with that levels of fecal contamination (E. Coli and Enterococcus are fecal bacteria) they should seek testing for pathogens such as Salmonella, Vibrio cholerae, etc.

    I live in Paris and wouldn’t allow my cat to swim in the Seine. As an American ex-pat in France, I blame the “disaster” on the usual French bureaucracy, which is led by individuals who clearly aren’t swimmers. This idiotic thinking extends to decisions about the temperature of the public pools. More often, the pools are way to cold with an excuse that they need to “save on energy.” The French are basically clueless about sports. Their top swimmers are trained by U.S. coaches, e.g., Leon Marchand.

    • @houtansadeghi
      @houtansadeghi Месяц назад +2

      Pools are cold because they want to keep them open. Lots of pools have been shut in Europe in the last few years as they are too expensive to run. Once they get shut they do not reopen so it’s best to have them with cold water but open.

    • @Swimmer47
      @Swimmer47 Месяц назад

      @@houtansadeghi what’s the point, then? If it’s too cold and people don’t swim because of it, then what’s the point? They should review their priorities. But they won’t…not the stupid French.

Why they are insisting on using the Seine is beyond my comprehension.

    Rain water does not push up E.coli levels (or the other nasties they test for). Releasing untreated sewage into the river is the problem. It’s not the rain water directly. Paris has mixed sewers. Rain water and sewage end up in the same system. If it rains a lot the sewers lack capacity and the waste overflows into the river. Paris did invest a lot in extra water treatment capacity but apparently it isn’t enough.
      It’s a good thing that the city invested in cleaning the river. The water quality did increase significantly. But it is a complete disgrace that professional athletes, who trained for years, don’t get the training they deserve or end up being sick.

    In the same olympic, you can fact check, in other races, swimmers occur similar face colour, these includes:
    -- women 200m butterfly final, Gold medalist, Canada, Summer Mcintosh.
    -- women 200m breaststroke final, Silver medalist, South Africa, Tajana Smith
    -- women 100m backstroke final, Gold medalsit, Britain, Laylee Mckeon.
    -- women 100m butterfly final, Silver medalist, Germany, Abgelina Koehler
    -- women 100m freestyle semi final, not only one swimmer
    -- 4 x 100m freestyle relay, Sweden, whole team
    -- China Zhang Yufei, after 50m freestlye and 200m butterfly.
    -- men breaststroke 100m final, Britain, Adam Peaty
    -- men 1500m freestyle final, bronze medalist, Ireland, Daniel Wiffen, and the last one, France, Damien Joly
    -- women 1500m fresstyle final, Silver medalist, France, Anastasiia Kirpichinikova
    If you are non-sense in swimming, you would not fact check it by offical olympic video, but not the altered colour picture.
    It shows who make or agree this video, is.are nonsense and indifferent in swminning !
    But the one who make the purple-face video, spread, enhance and distribute this NON-SENSE IN SWIMMING, intentionally !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    This man spread NON-SENSE in swimming and hatred to U.S. swimmer intentionally !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! NO FACT CHECK in swimming, only regard altered color picture as a FACT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    It's been a poorly executed disaster. Once all the cheating medal winners and results get expunged from the record books it'll become the worst Olympics of all time.
