Hi Rachel! Thank you for your very nice comment, I'll appreciate very much. My answer: the leaf springs come on the original kit (#58048) fix with 3 leafs for each spring and I am using these original ones... So on these it's not optional - it was even not optional on the later version "Mountaineer" #58111 issued 1992. It seems like you have this option on the Bruiser re-issue (#58519) ...cheers!
Great video and car :-) i have a restored old Bruiser at my shelf, love that car! The beginning of the music sounds like Heimdall 2 (old Videogame) :-) greetings from Switzerland
Hi, saw this video and brought back memories as I remembered that my brother bought and built one of these original bruisers when they came out in 1985. I went over to my parents house today , and sure enough it was sitting in the attic looking good except for copious amounts of dust etc. I took it home gave it a quick brush -off and gave it a once over inspection all looked good save for perished rubber "inspection" holes on the transmission. Anyway grabbed a 7.4V 5.2Ah liPo and gave it a quick test - all was good and drivetrain worked fine. Bearings still seem smooth etc. A good project for update with new R/C system and ESC etc. I can't believe how solid these where/are - all steel including gears and transmission cases!. Any ideas where to get a hold of new parts such as those rubber caps, tyres etc? Also, I found the original box and the unit has model number #5848 printed on it, I guess it's the same?
Thank you for your great comment :-) ! Yes, this is #58048 back from 1985. Tamiya did a re-issue in the year 2012 (#58519) which is about the same. So, parts could be found on this re-issue on resellers or in the web. But man, how lucky you are that yours was still there at your parents house..., like a hidden Treasury :-) ! Hope you'll have a lot of fun with it ! And yes, These vehicles are everlasting....best regards, Daniel
Hi & thx for your comment! It's true that the old model has the 750 Motor....but I haven't experienced the re-re so far and with the new engine they built etc. I actually don't know which has effectively more torque....but also yes, by definition the 750 comes up with more power...best regards!
All right, Steve, thanks again! To get the stickers on - conforming to the swages - was not so difficult. Just "rolling them in" with some patience and they were quite elastic (repros from TC/not available anymore btw)...regards Daniel
Hi there! You can buy the Re-issue of the Bruiser (Kit.No.: 58519) easily anywhere where they sell RC. This original one from '85 (Kit.No.: 58048) you probably will find on youtube or similar pages. I got this one privately from a friend. Hope this helps! best regards!
thanks , still the best clip and watch it heaps, did you have any trouble geting the stickers to conform to the swages (bends) in the panels? regards Steve
Hi best Bruiser clip on the net!! Is there an option of the amount of leaf springs you can use when you assemble the kit? if so how many did you use ? as you got the suspension lookin nice and soft and realistic lookin when goin over the rocks. nice
Hi there ! Yes, the motor and the Transmission are different. The vintage has a RS-750SH brushed Motor, reissue a RS-540 brushed. Transmission has been newly designed by Tamiya. Rest of the Chassis is more or less same though. best regards
+blzr2bull Hi, this is an original (58048), which i bought and fully restored before the reissue came out. I still could resist to buy the reissue......best regards
' wish take this R/C tamiya brusier truck... but no thank... 2 things are not good and turn down... ' 1 - aluminuim gear is easily torning out easily... 2 - awful wrongful pricey in 2015... must be price in 1985 and not 2015
