i've had one for years but dusted it off to use about a year ago. The tape slows to a crawl and then stops moving. I will eventually get to this as a project now that i see there is this helpful video.
Nice one. I have a 464 and a 424mkiii. Mkiii is currently under repair for a dead "Level" knob. 464 works great. Do you have any other 4 track cassette machines?
@@oinkooink No problem. I was regularly getting them from Goodwill Auctions and fixing them, cleaning them, testing, then selling on Reverb, then suddenly the supply dried up...now I'm seeing them again, and they are selling for even less. So I think it's time to get back into it.
Yes I believe so. Here's one vendor on eBay, just search Tascam 488 belt on eBay and you'll find plenty of people selling them. www.ebay.com/itm/202142356915
What a great tutorial! I just got one for free with the same symptoms.....Thanks man
@@rw4273 no problem. Thank you.

I don’t have any at the moment. I was fixing them and selling them on Reverb. I’d like to get back into it though.
@@JayceAllanGuitar Oh sweet as. Thanks for getting these old machines back in shape.

I was looking for the link for the replacement belt. My 488 is in the same position. Is the mkII belt the same as the mkI?
