    Thanks for this vid. I was not aware of the special mining lasers. It took me a few hrs to unlock the system and mine the osmium but I finally got a few. I'll try them out on a future mining run.

    Hey Dave, managed to get 4 of the enhanced mining lasers last weekend. I did message you in game a few times in the week, but I know it’s not easy to spot them amongst all the other NPC messages. Anyway, maybe have a chat if I see you on over the weekend. I now have about 5 friends who have just started playing about 3 weeks ago so I have my hands full trying to remember stuff when I get questions. 😆

    Do you think there is any benefit to using the 3B operations limpet controller over the 3C mining?
    Also, I have seen complaints about the multi-limpet controllers that they are "dumb" and don't track as well as the regular ones have you noticed this? I have tried both and for some reason it seems slightly faster with regular ones, but I may imagining it.
    I may give this a shot, as I only get about 500 tones an hour just flying around prospecting in a non-haz hotspot.
    Hey thanks for the great information!

      @hughjardon3538  2 года назад +1

      I think the longer life of the 3C is more important. Whatever the difference, you can see in the vid that the 3C works fine.

    Another great lesson 👍 I have only laser mined once... A HazRez seems a little hot while I am concentrating on a new skill. Is there a good beginning location that isn't 350 ly away. I have all the 3rd party tools (inara, miners tool, EDDB) And, what is a good thing to mine; ltd? Panite? Platinum? ...?... Thanks o7

    • @hughjardon3538
      @hughjardon3538  2 года назад +2

      You can start by mining in th platinum hotspot in Hyades Sector DB-X d1-112 planet 1 inner ring. The pirates arrive when you do. Just wait for them to go before you start mining, or you can run them off your radar and a bit more. They won't bother you again until next visit. Be aware that if you get disconnected, it counts as a restart, so the first thing you have to do is run away from any pirates.The build is slightly different beause you need a DSS to see the hotspots. You don't need strong shields because you don't get routinely attacked by pirates. You can replace one of the four class 2 lasers with four of the new 1D ones if you want.

      @@hughjardon3538 I am at the location. I did follow your suggestions about 90%, and where engineering allows for me (i.e. I use a docking comp... And a fuel scoop etc) Opportunity lies in time between rocks; effective use on prospector limpits and getting comfortable with the big beast in the astroids. I will get there, it is already much more fun 'mining'. I keep you posted!

      The high definition version is still processing at RUclips. I guess minor channels like mine have low priority. I had the same for the last one. It took a day or so to sort itself out.

      There are lots of way to earn money swiftly. The Road to Riches done in an efficient way is good money. Robigo Mines Passenger Missions is a fantastic money maker. There is a build for a Python that costs less than the initial cost of the python once it is done. you get your money back for the Python in 2 runs, then it is profit all the way. Great Imperial Rank. Great Exploration Rank. Difficult to get Engineering Material as Mission Rewards too.

    • @truevulgarian

      Try running cargo missions for a system in boom. Build up rep with them and they will give you the more lucrative ones eventually. You may have to donate $ to the other factions in the system to prevent the system from going into civil war. I am finally > $6 B mostly using this method.

      Watch Hugh's video on pirate massacre missions in Ngalinn/Mainani systems. I earned 5.5 billion (no typo) in about 5 weeks. Gonna use those credits to buy a carrier and help support this mining lesson 👍
