Let's say I have 10 liters of petrol left in my car and my own weight is 72kg. My chubby friend drives the car with a full tank (55 liters) and weighs 120kg, he just went through a mcdrive and is carrying 10kg of breakfast. The weight difference of the petrol is about 45 * 0.711 = 32kg, driver weight difference is 48 kg and the breakfast adds another 10kg. That's a 100kg difference. That will add +- 0.5sec to 0 to 100 time. He tells me I am driving downhill, i tell him to start working out.
@lupul10 This is a DSG 7 speed. It's doing 200 in 6th, I did not bother going to 7th since it's more of an overdrive and i ran out of open highway :). The selected gear is displayed in the top right corner of the MFD (onboard computer)
@elbrazza85 No, it's not chipped, and there are 2 things at play here, first of all the VW specs are always conservative, second of all the actual speed is always a bit lower than what the speedo is showing. This was a flat road, under ideal circumstances. Uphill or heavy headwind will make the speed drop to 190 or so. I can't say whether the 160 hp version is better or not, i never drove it. I did have some engine troubles, but all it needed was a chip firmware upgrade. It's common but easy fix
Agreed, and the acceleration conforms to the specs given by VW as well. But I'm not going to be tempted to get into a discussion with someone who's already made up his mind about it being impossible ;) I owned it, I drove it, I filmed it...
@lordoftheriffs79 I'm sure it is :) unfortunately i didn't have much of a choice with this one, 30K euro with moderate options (Netherlands) was already pushing my price range when i got it. But when you can pick between this Golf and an Astra, it's not a tough choice to make. I do have an offer laying around for the GTI but need to save up a few months more, maybe i'll get it after the winter :D

so basically the manufacter gives 200 MAX speed an 10 sec 0-100 and you did it in 9 and 210+ top speed. :) What i want to ask you is where you found the downhill you are running :D

Third of all, most speedometers are always displaying a speed slightly higher than the actual speed you are driving (about 5 to 10%). In short: this wasn't downhill. Go test drive one :)
I've driven a golf V, and i think the quality of the interior doesn't come close to that of the VI. Also i like the exterior of the VI better, but this is just my personal taste obviously.
I like the golf V better... in it s last year with the Golf V 2008 ... VW has done something great with the car (a lil bit louder then the golf 6 but much faster) ...

Im not sure which car i should order... the 1.4 tsi 122 hp or the 160 hp. I'm a little bit unsure about the 160 hp version because a lot of people got problems with the engine.... is this a lot better with the 122 hp version? Any complaints?
Wyndzzy actually you can change it. In the multi function display (the one in the middle), you can set what is called "second speed", at least that's the translated German
So you found one site that states another number than all the other sites. Ockhams razor tells me it's a wrong number. I can't be bothered defending this car anymore. Everyone that's driven it can tell you the numbers are real, but you have a right to believe otherwise if you wish. Numbers are overrated anyway, a slight uphill / downhill, wind direction, road conditions do as much to your numbers as driving with or without your 300lbs mother in law as a passenger. Just enjoy the vid or move on;)
@limitznl 160 hp version is a lot faster than the 122 hp... check out my videos, i also have revo stage 1 software, and it accelerates faster than golf gti :)

Because they test them in circuits clean and with perfect conditions something you ll rarely find. 3) Aggree that means tou drive at most 200 khm and thats what i tell you above. This car cant go faster than 10 sec 0-100 and 200khm top speed. And those numbers are very ambitious.

I've got the 122hp, our top speed varies between 210-220, so I believe the road is straight and not downhill :).

It was in manual mode, i always drive in manual mode...
So you dont get wheel spin with full throttle starting at 0 kmh
so basically the manufacter gives 200 MAX speed an 10 sec 0-100 and you did it in 9 and 210+ top speed.

As the main dial is in Km/h the digital readout shows MPH. On UK cars it is the other way round :)
