I just took my PMR30 to the range for the first time today. I started by shooting the recommended CCI Maximag 40 grain for about the first 50 rounds. The 40 grain ammo worked flawlessly so I switched to Hornady 30 grain vmax ammo. Even the 30 grain ammo ran flawlessly. I might add that before firing the pistol. I field stripped, cleaned and lubed my PMR30. Maybe that contributed to my success with the pistol. A friend shooting in the bay next to me commented on how loud the pistol is.

They just seem to be hit or miss- some peolpe get a good one and others don't. .22wmr has a pretty stout muzzle report and flash due to all the unburnt powder from that rifle round comming out the short barrel. I shot some from a 2" barrel once and it was like a bomb going off in front of my face...

Guess I got a good one, bought mine about a month ago, no misfeeds or jams. I loaded my mags correctly according to company specs and have fired about 200 rounds and no malfunctions. I disassembled my mags and cleaned and lubed them. Even before doing this with my mags, my PMR30 ran flawlessly.

Definitely no soft points in this gun. Because you’re using a modified gun, it’s hard to perform a realistic review. My PMR 30 runs almost excellent with the recommended CCI mag ammo. One more thing recommend is tapping the back of the magazine every four or five loads. I had the luxury of watching many RUclips videos and learning about about the pistol before using it. So I do appreciate your channel and sharing the information. However, brand new gun out of the box, no aftermarket upgrades, correct bullets, and proper loading the mags and you should be in good shape.

Mine works flawlessly. I use the Hornady Critial Defense 45gr ammo. I have this Lula device that makes loading the magazines easy, and correctly. I also have the carbine version that uses the same magazines. I about loading the magazines correctly, and I think most people that have issues do not pay enough attention to the process. I have gone to the range with someone else that owns on, and he called it a jambomatic. I ran 3 magazines I loaded through it, and had zero issues.

Pro tip: Many Keltec firearms need a few hundred round break in before they will run reliably. I've had the P3AT, PF-9, multiple Sub2000s, SU-16, CMR-30 and I'm on my 3rd PMR-30. One of the Sub2Ks needed a couple hundred round break in and the CMR/PMR magazines almost always need breaking in. Load them to 20rds first and later 25, shoot American made 40gr ammo that is not Winchester. After a few hundred rounds you can try running 30 in the mag but I just always load mine to 25 because it is exactly half a box of ammo and makes for a more consistent loading and shooting experience.

With no modifications my PMR 30 has been 100% with one exception because I rim locked the ammo, I lost count after 2,000 rounds. Shot 30 gr to 50 gr bullets with no issues.

Mine had lots of failures to feed and failures to eject. I had the dealer I purchased it from send it back to Kel Tec. Since I got it back it has been very reliable (provided the magazines are loaded properly). I tried several different speed loaders, but what seems to work best for me is to carefully hand load the magazine, tapping the back of it against the table every 4 or 5 rounds. I just need to show patience because it takes a while to load 30 rounds that way.

WAS recently at the range with my new PMR 30. The only thing that was done prior to shooting was thoroughly cleaning the gun and lubing it. I shot 600 rounds using 4 magazines & various ammo types of different manufacturers. I loaded four magazines with the ludex speedloader and did not condition the ammo during the loading process as per kel-tecs recommendation. The only pause in shooting came from either loading another mag or stopping to reload all the mags which took a bit of time. I had a total of five failures: 4 failed to eject and a single failed to feed for a whopping 0.0083 percent failure rate. YES I'M VERY SATISFIED WITH THE PERFORMANCE OF THIS 22 MAG SEMI AUTO.

I appreciate your video despite all the rumblings from those who've never had an issue with theirs. From what I gather, this would make a fun 'plinker' if nothing else but definitely NOT a personal defense carry. Had a chance to feel the lightness of one a buddy of mine bought and couldn't believe how feather light it was. I'm a Walther 22LR guy myself but the Kel Tec trigger wasn't bad. Best of luck and keep shooting straight.

The PMR 30 I had in Alaska ran flawlessly with all ammo I put threw it even handloads. I live in Texas now & a friend came over to test his in my backyard & no matter what we ran, we couldn't get 5 concectitive rounds out. Although, we tried this: after loading the magazine and inserting it, we racked two rounds out. It worked with the soft points rounds fairly well, but still had jams & lot of stovepipes with the FMJs. I really liked mine when I had it, but my friends newer one sucked. I still want another one but can't afford a POS one. Guess I got lucky with mine. On a side note, maybe, just maybe, temperature & humidity might have been a factor since Alaska & Texas varies tremendously on both. AWESOME VIDEO.

My PMR 30 is all stock and runs great as long as it is clean and oiled regularly, including the mags; as webhealth1 also stated. This gun likes 40 grain jacketed rounds, anything else is a crap-shoot. The factory installed feed ramp works just fine once it breaks in a bit, after the first couple mags ran through, it smoothed right out. It is however normal that the factory polymer feed ramp will wear out and need replaced, at that point it will be replaced with the stainless upgrade. I love this handgun and it's quite impressive being a .22 semi-auto. Well done Kel-Tec!!

The gold dot malf was caused by rim lock. With any rimmed case in a semi auto mag that's a concern. You have to make sure each and every consecutive round has the rim in front of the other, and sometimes they can jump each other. Hence why it's rare for a high cap rimmed rifle round. Think 7.62x54r Russian. The svd sure doesn't have a 30 rd mag. Great video.

I tried shooting two-year-old CCI ammo and they would not even come out of the magazine. I loaded a second magazine with brand new Winchester and it fired flawlessly all 25 rounds that I loaded. On closer inspection I found a very fine hue of tarnish on the CCI brass. I did wipe down the CCI brass with Nu-Polish and went back to the range and it all fired flawless. Conclusion… ANY tarnish or fingerprints on the brass do seem to make a difference in feeding and ejecting, keep your chamber and your ammo super clean and you should have no problem shooting your PMR-30.

Owners fiddling with it have determined it is user error and the gun itself is fine.
The gun has no problems beyond breaking in like any other semiautomatic. The magazine is also fine though difficult to load those last few of 30 rounds due to spring pressure. So much so you have to careful not to dent the shell case.
The error is not strictly following the magazine loading instructions because you are loading rimmed cartridges in what most all semiautomatics use rimless cartridges.
First the rounds must be alternately loaded one to the right side and then to the left side, repeat for all 30 rounds.
Next as you load like the first 5 (7?) rounds you must tap the magazine against the palm of your hand to seat the rounds against the back of the magazine. Keep doing this until the last few rounds and then more often.
    I want one of these.

Load the magazines correctly with 40grain ammo, prepare to enjoy. Mine was flawless even in break in. I had two failures the first 200 rds. These were caused by me releasing the mag accidently during fire (im ham fisted). Mine will shoot 30grain Hornaday v-max flawlessly. The pistol has a nice trigger is very light and a blast to shoot. Just use 40 grain or higher, Premium Ammo and there should be No Malfunctions! This is a great firearm and not inherently problematic at all! Follow the guidelines in the user guide and if you do so and still have problems, then you have a Lemon! Maybe the problems bare related to the after market parts installed from Mcarbo! I don't believe in after marked parts and I think they are Not Necessary in a New Gun! I now have 4 Kel-Tec firearms and I have had No Issues with any of these and I have Stock Parts in them all! • @BuckeyeBallistics

I think you need to pay better attention to the video before leaving remarks like this. I stated in the video that the owner installed the Mcarbo parts because the pistol ran like trash from the factory, and he did run 40 grain ammo by the way. The Mcarbo kit was quite literally designed to address all the *COMMON* issues PMR30 owners encountered with these pistols. It is common knowledge amongst the PMR30 community, and many PMR30 owners have installed the kit for this very reason and a lot of them swear by it as well. The gun *IS* notoriously problematic whether you want to accept that or not. There are probably tens of thousands of them out there that run great straight from the factory, but then there are also thousands that don't. Just because you got lucky and got a good one doesn't mean that what I cover in this video is untrue. Unlike you, I did my due dilligence and research before posting this video. Matter of fact, I have been researching this pistol for years because I really wanted one, and have waited years intentionally, still not purchasing one because I have been waiting on Keltec to resolve all the issues and release an updated version to resolve those issues which they never have. You come one here stating *your* experience- you are one single person. I speak for the entire community based on many hours of actual research and hard data. I honestly started filming this video expecting the gun to run great since it had the Mcarbo kit, but obviously it didn't work out that way. You can call it a lemon if you want, but the fact is that a bunch of them are lemons. The Mcarbo kit fixes a lot of them that are problematic, but I have also seen many reports that it didn't like I experienced here. And yes these people were aware of how to "properly" load it (which is stupid simple because it loads just like an AR mag), and they were using the recommended ammo. I'm happy for you that yours runs great, but don't come on here spreading misinformation based only on your experience. I speak the unbiased truth, again, founded by hours of research and data...

Not sure why these pistols have such a bad rap as I have a PMR30 I bought when they first came out. It is a 3 digit serial number and I have close to 2000 rounds through it without a single jam. I have had 1 failure to feed caused by a cracked magazine that would not feed last round. I have by habit always loaded my magazines short and I only load 25 rounds per mags. Not sure if that is why I am not seeing any problems or not. Also i only shoot US made ammo as recommended in owners manual and I do not to shoot anything below 36 Grain as I found it has a tendency to keyhole through original fluted barrel. I have thought about getting a new non-fluted barrel as that is supposed to solve this problem. I also have the CMR30 with over 750 rounds through it and have not had any issues with it either. The 30 grain VMAX through the CMR is highly accurate and does not have the keyhole issues the PMR has.

I do not have a PMR30, but I am compelled to defend it anyway. Was that gun cleaned and lubed before you received it? IT ACTS LIKE A VERY DIRTY GUN. EVERY load that you shot had VERY WEAK ejection! A few flew back, but most barely got over your head and fell just behind you! This implies that the slide is not cycling fast enough and hard enough to eject shells, producing stovepipes and fails to feed. Also, every full mag you showed to the camera had the top round too far forward and not fully inserted in the mag lips...........................elsullo

Maybe you should do some research on this gun before "defending" it and educate yourself about what a piece of garbage it actually is. As I just said to another commenter earlier today, good luck keeping all of those cartridges in perfect alignment like that in the real world. Strap it to your hip and walk around for a few minutes and they will be all out of alignment, God forbid actually having to run with it. Drop it and the whole thing is effed, run and it is effed, walk long enough and it is effed. Yeah, I don't want anything to do with any gun that becomes unreliable because I dropped the mag or just walked up a damn hill, nor do I want anything to do with anyone commenting that this is apparently a reasonable excuse for a firearm to NOT WORK.
