It was required information for the investors to even consider investing. You can’t decide to invest into something that is losing money unless you look at the numbers, cause that makes the difference.
June 2020 update: When reflecting on Peters offer after the show the pair decided to pull out of the deal and took the crowd funding route instead; they raised over £300k for less than half of the equity Peter wanted. The business is still running and is stocked in Sainsbury’s and Harvey nichols.
"Tuk Tuk appeared on the 12 August episode of the show, scoring an £100k investment from Peter Jones, but confirmed that after filming, the potential partners mutually decided to walk away from the deal. Tuk Tuk Chai instead turned to the crowd to raise £150k in order to upscale in production and invest in marketing. In a crowdfunding campaign on Crowdcube launched the day after the Dragons’ Den episode was shown, Tuk Tuk completed the fundraise in 24 hours, for 8.5% of its equity on a valuation of £1.85m."
The dragon is concerned by the amount of sugar in the drink saying "today's market want less sugar" .... Cola, Pepsi and redbull are the 3 biggest selling drinks in the world....
I’m sooo annoyed that Debra M (one of my favs) would scold the couple in to revealing their cost price against what they agreed upon contract with Sainsbury, putting their business at risk only for her to then back out! Ik it’s business but that was cold and asking too much.
In my country they put a tax on sugar so Coca Cola has to reduce the sugar content to reduce costs. I guess it’s better to think ahead than to retroactively reduce the sugar
LordDoucheBags same country that show took place in also has a drink sugar tax. If it’s already in Sainsbury’s a uk store for £1 then the sugar tax will not be an issue.

Now it seems they've gone in another direction,. Not sure how that's going to help them in their negotiations with Sainsbury's. Some interesting figures on starrtups.com: 50% of all campaigns are unsuccessful; the average successful campaign is for 7,000 USD (not a hundred grand); and Europe is by far the least successful world region for crowdfunding, at 6.48 billion USD compared to the next-lowest Asia on 10.54bn. So best of luck, but the figures are not promising, and for that reason I'm going to bed.
@@MiniLemmy It does justify being an equal partner like he said at the time without an investment they would most likley have closed down. He was the one with the contacts who would have saved the buisness if the deal had of went through so to me that justifys an equal partnership. Saying that tho I am happy they managed to find away to make it work on their own
Horn: “Toot toot”
Jenny: “I’m out”.
Edit: Holy Tuk Tuk! Thanks for all the likes.
Haha!
Toot I'm oot
Why are you bothered about how many people like your comment?
@@AnthonyCook78 maybe we all just want to be loved 🥰😕😇🤝🐕🐣🐌?
Tej: He won't succeed in retail that way
Deborah: I don't care what you think
Yesss 😂
"Jenny Campbell has been sitting quietly..." of course...she's thinking on what reason she'll use to say she's out...
Lol
These entrepreneurs have been the only ones I really wanted to get a dragon... so likeable!
Ended up reading the comments. Now I want to try this tea.
"Touker! Touker!"
Man, Debbie scares me..
@MEanME lol
I friggin adore her 💜
It was a bit mean making them reveal their cost price and jeapordise their contract, and then not even make an offer
It was required information for the investors to even consider investing. You can’t decide to invest into something that is losing money unless you look at the numbers, cause that makes the difference.
Peter clearly explains that to them,
Suzie From the block Maybe? Who knows how much footage they cut out in the finished production, so we’ll never really know.
@@samuszero100 Given how each pitch takes around an hour, they edit out A LOT
They are a gorgeous couple. He seems to really love her
June 2020 update: When reflecting on Peters offer after the show the pair decided to pull out of the deal and took the crowd funding route instead; they raised over £300k for less than half of the equity Peter wanted.
Ended trading in 2023 though, so it seems it didn't work out in the end.
The dragon is concerned by the amount of sugar in the drink saying "today's market want less sugar" .... Cola, Pepsi and redbull are the 3 biggest selling drinks in the world....
Different market mate, people associate tea to healthy drinks
@Richard Williams Alright mate
Pipe down digger
Coke, Pepsi, and Redbull all have sugar free versions of their drinks. You literally just proved his point. They've adapted to today's market.
@@1203125 you've actually proved my point, they don't sell as much as the full sugar version
The guy is now an millionaire. His company is valued £ 2 million.
That is amazing news!!!!
that doesn't make him a millionaire... they raised 150k from crowdfunding for 8.5% giving almost 2 million valuation
The company valued at £2 mil absolutely does not mean he’s a millionaire.
I wouldn't say that makes him a millionaire, but that would mean they are doing well. A company check shows a net worth of 94k though
That’s not how it works 🤦🏻♂️. Also, it’s their company, not just his.
Love how they edited it like a Bollywood movie😂
Where's the big dance final!?
Wasn’t even edited like a Bollywood movie😬
•.• ?- the filter, music, pointless zooming, slightly sped up footage camera panning All at the start
@@ap138 you've never seen one
Anon ymous I’ve grown up watching Bollywood movies so I think I’m experienced enough to know how one looks like.
Everytime a dragon pulled out, that guy died a little on the inside
Wait I read online that they later refused Peter’s offer and got the money through crowdfunding instead! Now they’re millionaires
"I've invented iced milk tea", I think Japan might question that. Saw it readily available literally everywhere when I was there 4 years ago.
I lived there 15 years ago now and it was bloody everywhere! 😂
He can have independently invented it. As long as he didn't know about the japanese product, he also invented it, just later.
Umm bubble tea ????
Lucas Milagre Tavares Ferreira yes, I invented putting ketchup on chips. I found out later others had done it.
Has anyone tried thai ice milk tea? Its one of their famous drinks

Jenny: I’m out
Director: and action
I’m sooo annoyed that Debra M (one of my favs) would scold the couple in to revealing their cost price against what they agreed upon contract with Sainsbury, putting their business at risk only for her to then back out! Ik it’s business but that was cold and asking too much.
Behind every successful man.
He would not have got that far without his wife.
God Bless them both.
Jenny: that french girl is absolutely edible, and for that reason I'm out.
absolutely delicious in fact.......
Such a cute little turned up nose. Tuk Tuk
She's plain as a blank piece of paper.
Really? She's remarkably average and looks mid 40s.
Piers Jenny is 58
The guy looked like he was about to cry.
How? Lol he was just nervous that's all
He came to the UK from humble beginnings with a dream, so why not, he's done well. :)
He smiles and gets excited when he gets good compliments ...but when they drop the BUT ,HOWEVER his face drops
and pouty mcpoutface didnt look phased at all...
Yeah and notice he deferred to his wife for a major business decision...man of the house clearly
"I'm concerned about the high sugar content so I'm out"
Is he for real?
People these days are surprisingly concerned about the sugar content of what they consume, mostly girls and people who love to weigh like a ragdoll.
In my country they put a tax on sugar so Coca Cola has to reduce the sugar content to reduce costs. I guess it’s better to think ahead than to retroactively reduce the sugar
@@buggart Also people who aren't eager to develop preventable health issues...
LordDoucheBags same country that show took place in also has a drink sugar tax. If it’s already in Sainsbury’s a uk store for £1 then the sugar tax will not be an issue.
Of course, Coke changed to sugar free on all their drinks.
Lol, this "concept" has been in Asian countries for ages, back in the 90s when I was in elementary school we have milk tea in vending machines and convenience stores.
Touker shouting ‘what does it sell for!’ With such enthusiasm and then getting told off by Jenny ended me 💀😂
