Toaster oven hack: I lined the bottom with large ceramic tiles from hardware store to keep the temperature more consistent. But I also use a tile as a baking sheet - so I don’t contaminate the real baking sheet.
Thanks!
Love to see Diana's yarns out in the wild. Her colors are like no other and each package comes with a nice personal note and a little origami crane. Always a joy to receive. The link is not workable, but dyedianadye is easy to find.
I love this DiY 👁️-cord maker tool! Thank you for inspiring me to pull out my polymer clay stash & tools for another project. My mind is already reeling with eye-themed embellishment ideas. Who doesn’t love a good pun?!?
My favorite icord maker is the Cordsmith. I really like the design and it is lightweight but sturdy.
Your varied crafty talents amaze me. Great sweater name would be Ripples in the Sand.
Saw that tool . Norman (Nimble Needles) was showing how he made one.
Usually refrain from posting but that icord tool is too cute thanks for another great video
I thought of Olalola (ola=wave in spanish) :))))) I adore this sweater!!!!
Looove
Thank you for another great live! I look forward to crafting some I-cord tools at some point! I suggest tonnan mara for the sweater - its sea waves in Scots Gaelic. Or tonnach which is wavy.
Your i-cord tool is brilliant! How fun to know how to make one!
Great DIY icord creation & inspiration. “Oleada” Sweater or “Ola Lola”
This live was also an awesome class! Thanks Laura, it’s always nice to spend time with you :). As for names for the awesome sweater: 1-Dwynwen (White wave of peace) or 2-Faneel (Sea Waves). I would love he iCord maker :)
I would love the Icord tool. I have never made an Icord and don’t knit a lot but have started again. My first time watching live! Thank you
I enjoyed this so much! I love your style, and have already ordered 3 patterns from you!
Oh, thank you so much!!! That's super sweet!
Thanks for another great live ❤
I think that big colorful one would be comfortable for those of us with a bit of arthritis in our hands.
I love this. I live overseas and the shipping is almost as much as tool itself. I can get the pieces easily enough. I saw the video from the fella in Austria/Germany and between these two, I think I can manage to make one.
So totally obsessed with i-cord makers. I collect them. I have spools, cranky machines (including one from the 40s) and now I’m obsessed with the latch hook ones. As for the sweater, I keep thinking Waveform for a name but I bet there is something called that already. Great show. Thanks for doing it. Can’t wait to see what you come up with for a project that incorporates i-cord. I’ll be totally down with that. ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Check out my RUclips Channel where I teach Latch Hook Crochet and Cordcrochet. RoslynHillLatchHookCrochet
Loved seeing what you're working on. The I cord making demo was fantastic. How about Wave Motion, Zen Waves, Feel the Waves, or Catching the Wave for the sweater name. Thanks for everything Laura. Diane
As soon as I saw the new sweater on Goldie, I thought of the name "Lolava".
Great demo! I had fun hearing your whole process
Undulating Breakers Sweater. Whatever you call it, it’s beautiful! I used Tynn Line for a lacy summer top last year and really enjoyed working with it.
Name for the sweater - Hawaiian word, Waha - the curl of a wave or barrel. The sweater does look like a lot of curls of waves.
Ok so this is a throwback to your usedtobefavorite knitting tool: the stitchsaver! To pick up for sleeves or neckline, I use a 5" length of stitch saver and a Silvalume to pick up stitches with the hook end (works best when working on smaller needle sizes - gotta watch stitch size on larger needle sizes). Attach the pointy end of the tool to the saver, and your working needles to the other end of the saver and you are good to go! Adjust the length of the saver to suit your work. The stitches are mounted backwards so I knit into the back loop on the first row
cool!!!!
Undulating Weave Sweater. To me it looks like you are weaving the waves. 💚🌊
You are so awesome Laura :) Hey I want to make one with the bigger needles like the one you didn't like - the one with the multicoloured handle. Which size were those and where did you buy please?
Oh, I had to figure that out... they were bulky knitting machine needles, I got them on Amazon. amzn.to/3XpArwS
Great episode, can't wait to try making an icord tool. For the sweater beach breakers?
I like the name Tumutumu for your new sweater. It means crest in Samoan. I’m imagining people chanting “Tumutumu, Tumutumu” as a giant wave crests just offshore as Lola swoops in with her helicopter to rescue stranded beachcombers before they are swept out to sea. Or, maybe she’s just dropping in to party with them.
Omg thanks! I’ve never ordered something so fast so I can try to make it. Latch hooks and duct tape came together (I have loads of polymer clay but I’m impatient and want to see if I can do it before I make and bake one. I’m using nylon cord as I am a jewellery maker and want to get something different in my repertoire. Thanks xx new follower here
You are so welcome!
I think of tides when I see sweater -- so maybe something like Tiding Me Over Sweater. Side note: this name rally speaks to me too because this year+ has been "challenging" and my knitting has been getting me through (tiding me over!) Or maybe Life Tide Sweater
Also, love your cowl.
Do you/will you have a kit?
@@hilarycohen1470 Not for this one... you can get kits from Leading Men Fiber Arts!
How about Surf's Up? Great live, Laura.
What a great LIVE! Enjoyed every minute. How about Olitas (little waves) for a name. Tried to link it to Lola, but then it came out Lolita!
Great video! What size needles would I need for worsted weight yarn?
I would use Standard Gauge needles!
How would I find the correct size latches for fingering weight yarn?
Another fun live. What about Seiche which the name for the waves in a confined body of water?
You can start the icord by doing long tail cast on. Nimble Knitter Norman shows this on his RUclips. Thank you for your great tutorial.
Thanks for the tip! I made a more detailed video on the cast on if you want to check that out: ruclips.net/video/zDTiGF-jJks/видео.html
I finally bought some beads! wooohoo!
Crafter thought-- (what a fantastic idea you have) instead of polymer use Apoxie Sculpt (by Aves Studio---- it's an air dry resin clay that dries hard like a rock - much more durable than polymer)
Also, can I vote for OlaLola as the sweater name? I love that one!!
Sinuous Rippling Sweater
How about Waves of Grass? Or Sea Waves? As for books, Lisa See has written many good ones.
Hello,
I’m in Europe so I need to source the needles myself. Could you please tell me what the difference is between the two types of needles you mention in the info ? Are they different size hooks? Thanks in advance
I talk about this more in this blog post: www.nelkindesigns.com/icord_blog
Thank you
What is the cookbook called please?
What about “Tidewater” or “Tide Pool”? It reminds me of those little pockets that hold water from the surf. I found a great pic AND it happens to be in reference to Hawaii! Links don’t seem to load here but I’ll put it over in the Chat on Ravelry 😊
Bombora is my suggestion, even tho Lola is not dangerous❤
The sweater pattern also looks a bit like spaghetti so maybe something like Spaghetti Madness? Love your patterns and Lives. Always learn something new with you. Thank you!
Hola como puedo adquirir ese crochet de tres agujas ..gracias
HOW DO i FIND OUT THE HOOK SIZE PLEASE Sorry not showting new keyboard?
all the details are in the notes of the video!
Name for sweater is
Ocean skiing?!?
Skipping Rocks Sweater might be a cute name cause when you skip a rock in the water makes the wave across as to rock skips. 🤷♀️
Could I use air dry clay to make this?
- “Make a Splash” and “Weatherly” seem underutilized as pattern names on Ravelry.
- Oceanography definition of “Fetch” is the distance over which wind blows to form waves.
But what about the bags!? I'm up to my eyeballs in wedding knitting (sorry, the bride picked another designer!) so I know I'll miss the KAL and a chance to win one, but I'm totally coveting that green cross-body!!
We all are! They'll be posted in my Ravelry group for the KAL on March 1st!
I got a lot of knitting done while listening. I thought the sweater should be called Surfing Waves.
19:08 icord tool
Name for the sweater : Laura& Lola making waves
Apparently everyone that watched this bought up the less expensive items at the Knitting Closet link and are now selling their homemade products on etsy. * sigh * I could not figure out what size the amazon ones were so took info from Knitting Closet and your gauge size and hunted through etsy who actually has the necessary information printed in their selling items. Ordered the ones I needed and was able to use PayPal as well! Thanks for your info!
Excellent! So glad you were able to figure it out for you!
"Cross Sea" or "Square Wave" Pullover?💗
So which hook is the bigger one on Amazon??
The standard gauge!
Billowla-ing Waves Sweater. (Like billowing).
Or Ebb and Flowla
Your tool looks a lot like the one nimble needles recently developed. Great minds.
Yes, I talk about his video in the "origin" story portion : )!
I designed my version a few years ago. I teach latch hook crochet and Cordcrochet . My two needle version makes chunky crochet , kids in my school group love it! See my RUclips Channel!
My suggested name is Ripples from Nature.
I would SO love to win this tool! If I was lucky enough not sure how you contact winner-on your live stream? I am a newsletter subscriber…
I'll announce in the next live, so you have to watch that to find out if you won! Next one is tentatively March 27th!
I thought Goldie was a dog, and was waiting for the camera to pan…
I don’t need the tool but my idea for the name is the Hot Water Sweater…. Because it’s a challenging pattern so you’re getting yourself into hot water, but also it’s hot like sexy!
CC is unavailable.
They are still processing... hopefully will be done soon, I don't have control over when YT gets them done. SOrry!
Maybe you forgot to turn on on your setting?
Make waves for a sweater name…
Your sweater reminds me of an octopus
