Был недавно на hi fi show в Лос Анджелесе. 4 этажа гостиницы наводнены самой дорогущей акустикой и прочими аудиофильскими вкусняшками. Я послушал всё. Так вот скажу вам уверенно: не каждая акустика за 20-50 тыщ долларов может так идеально звучать!

The system handles any kind of music but I am inclined to believe that it was born to play classical and jazz music.
Control, naturalness of voices, clarity and most importantly: emotion.
The macabre dance was sublime!

Incredible how well the speaker controls the amplifier.

Thanks. It's a DIY "box" combined with the original Amanero converter, DAC based on 2xPCM1794 and 2x80W solid state AMP.
Hello Yan. I enjoyed these demos. I know it's nothing like listening to speakers in person but sounds like there is a lot of detail. I noticed you changed the orientation of the base cabins. I think I see the bass reflex ports facing each other. Not sure if it's the best placement. Air firing on each other at high volumes may impact the control at low frequencies. Or maybe it's on purpose..

I don’t know what to begin with)
My “box” is combined of Amanero USB/I2S converter, DAC based on two paralleled PCM1794 chips, solid state amplifier (80W per channel under 8 Ohms) with power stabilization modules and all power supplies needed for all this units (except Amanero). Everything is connected through EMI filter module.
It plays music nicely. Interesting loudspeakers.
I konw, cloning of devices will never sound like a orginal. But it gives us the opportunity to have similar equipment for less than 25% of the value.
Unfortunately, it is also a violation of the law and property of the company, if we advertise such goods in public or (even worse) we want to sell it later as a pseudo-original construction.
Of course, you can do it for your own user. However, my friend in the UK was disgusted , the NAIM company began to scare via court and wrote about huge penalty due to the patent when He published its amplifier - a clone on the forum and RUclips.

I'm considering building similar speakers. Can you tell me how you are using the ribbon tweeter; as a super tweeter, or an actual crossover between the FOSTEX Sigma 108EZ and the Fountek ribbon? What is the frequency of the crossover? Thank You!

I feel the tweeter and woofer overpower the mid but really great work!

About 350Hz 2nd order both and about 9khz 3rd order tweeter only. There is also a correction chain I cannot share.

Are these bass boxes sealed or ported?

The bass cabinets are made with a tube port for experiments with some different music (example: Hans Zimmer).
However, in this demonstration and for most listening, the ports are plugged or sealed. The Bass cabinets are quite large already, and the sealed alignment offers a smoother "roll-off" or transition down to the lowest freqencies.

I am planning to build 4-way towers with these SB Acoustics SB23 drivers, 2 woofers per speaker. They'll be placed on side walls facing in opposite directions with mechanical links between magnets (pole plates). Box volume will be about 50 liters for two bass drivers. JBL Speaker Shop program shows that's close to the optimal closed box tuning with Qtc ~ 0.70 (with "normal" filling). Also there will be built-in bass amplifier plate with a DSP in each speaker. I had a concern that sealed boxes could not provide enough of low bass. But then I watched this video and a video with DYNAUDIO Focus 50 (2x7" woofers in a sealed box) in a huge room at some German Hi-Fi show. And I found bass to be sufficient In both cases.

My latest DIY speaker project was a pair of 3-way floorstanders using the Ciare HW251N 10" drivers combined with the 2-way Concentric 5" midrange/HF compression driver BMS 5CN162-HE.
I also used an "active" setup with a multi-channel DSP and high bias Class A-A/B amplifiers for each driver with DSP Crossovers/Time-Alignment/PEQ, and I was rewarded with incredibly Dynamic and Lifelike sound with excellent resolution and bass definition & extension. :)

А я никак не подберу новый микрофон, который низа пишет нормально. Ушами слышу, а майк не пишет.

how many wats to drive these speakers?
My regular volume (pretty loud) is about 60-70% of the solid-state amplifier 80/160W 8/4 Ohm. On this video the volume is about 80%

@@zvonkoprosen4096 You are welcome. 108 are almost always (haven’t check for right now) in stock on the Madisound. 208 and 168 are also very good drivers but them both have a bit higher sensitivity to drive them without resistors with the woofer. In case of resistors or active woofer I’d rather use 168 just because of the aesthetics, because 208 is too large for this design.
