RIP Sir Clive. Such a loss. He gave me so many memories of a great time growing up in the 80s

Sir Clive should be remembered more for the ZX81 and ZX Spectrum and not the C5!

My perception is that he is remembered far more for the ZX81 and Spectrum than the C5. I once saw a TV80 for sale for a token amount at a car boot sale in the 1990s. I've always regretted not buying it.

Maggie Philbin. Single since 1993. That is a crying shame. She is beautiful. Be happy in all that you do, Maggie!

2 years later.... when I was 14 years old I was first kid in my school to have an electronic calculator, the Sinclair Cambridge! Its cost £14.99 old money and ate batteries for a living. I was very popular for about 3 days, but once everyone had seen it I was back to being a weird geek again. It did not handle divide by zero and went into an epi and the only way out was to switch off and on. Because of owning this calculator I never learnt my tables and my mental arithmetic is now very very bad. Thanks Sir Clive!

Stamping on the hero is often the case, especially in Britain. Funny how he was a kind of Steve Jobs of his time, but perhaps even more versatile, as he's obviously both a technical and marketing visionary. It must have been a very exciting time to run his business, and I have to commend him for bringing tech to the everyday person. Definitely a very positive influence. So sorry he's no longer with us

Cambridge pocket calculator febunk.Sinclair did not patent the first pocket calculator Texas Instruments might have done though with their SR (slide rule) 56 , which would have cost about a month's salary back in 1968. A bit like the top of the range I Phone but just a pure mathematical tool.
