No, actually what happened is he moved up 2 weight classes to fight Paulie Malinaggi because they thought he was an easy lick for a welterweight belt because he can't punch. He barely beat Paulie, then he was stuck with the belt and had to defend it. He was nowhere near ready for that grown man comp at 147. He rushed up in weight because of greed and it cost him. Now he tried to go back down to 140 and that didn't work.

The truth is Broner just tried to come up too fast. He would have fit better in the smaller classes. When Paulie first fought him he predicted that he would struggle in the welterweight class. Paulie compared him to other fighters and he knew Broner would not be dominate on that level.

They needed to ask this fool how he feels about passing up on $5 Million to fight Pacquaio or how he feels looking back on passing up a 8 fight $40 MIllion deal from Roc Nation after the Maidana loss.
TheMartin9400 an 8 fight $40 mill deal really wouldn’t have been in his best interest even after the lost. That’s only $5 mill a fight. He could’ve increased that earning potential at any time during that deal had he taken it. So he would’ve lost money over the duration of the 8 fights.

Broner losing to Maidana exposed his flaws of being an undisciplined fighter who doesn’t respect his cornerman and who has issues outside of the ring. Broner himself along with critics and fans who really know the sport felt the loss was a fluke due to the fact that he was allowing himself to be touched with amateurish punches. Broner felt he would bounce back and continue on that same trajectory he was on being promoted as “the next,” which would have shot his earnings potential through the roof bcuz of his ability to draw people to his fights. He was already projected to earn double all the individuals you mentioned if he had just gotten his mind right and matured in the sport, which is what sometimes happens to the “great ones” after they suffer their first loss. If he would’ve regained a title and continued to win, he would’ve found himself in a contract that was underpaying him. That contract would have been better for RocNation and I truly believe that’s what they had projected themselves. Trust me, Broner was on his way had he not let people around him hype him up so much in becoming the next Floyd before his time. I don’t believe he was delusional, it was people around him RocNation included...he was poised to be the next big pay per view star.
