    Berberine played a key role in my battle against metabolic syndrome. I suffered from non-alcoholic fatty liver disease. My HbA1c was 6.3 - I was pre-diabetic. I started walking three to five days per week - getting at least 10,000 steps. I eliminated ultra-processed food. I take 500 mg of berberine in the morning, then again in the evening. I also take 300 mg of milk thistle daily. I follow the Mediterranean diet with emphasis on fatty fish, cruciferous vegetables, low sugar berries, seeds (chia, flax) and healthy nuts (pecans, walnuts). I have lost more than 90 pounds and continue to make progress in my now two year journey. My HbA1c is 5.1 and all of my blood markers are in the optimal range. My doctor told me that my results exceeded the average performance of GLP-1 agonists and gastric surgeries. I’m glad I chose the approach using diet and lifestyle. I see reports of the awful side effects of Wegovy. I’m glad I chose this path. I am on the lookout for a study on the long-term risks of berberine.

    • @DrTomBiernacki
      @DrTomBiernacki  5 месяцев назад +1

      You should check your specific situation with your doctor. Medications for high blood pressure (like antihypertensive drugs) interact with BERBERINE. Berberine might lower blood pressure. Taking berberine along with medications that lower blood pressure might cause blood pressure to go too low. Monitor your blood pressure closely while taking berberine.
      Thanks for the great response! 😊❤🙏

    Thankyou doctor for your informational videos. What is a good brand of Berberine? I have been taking it for awhile now but have not seen any results in inflammation, blood sugar, weight loss or digestive issues! I don't have a gallbladder for many years now. I eat healthy mostly like Paleo and Keto style diet. I do not take any medication only natural remedies when needed. Also why my feet catch cramps everyday, it is very painful. I take magnesium glycinate but it does not help and high BP.

    I found that it (Goldenseal root) disrupted and killed off some of my gut flora which made feel weak for a few days. If you take it I would plan on following up with some probiotics plus prebiotics to rebuild, would probably also be a good time to reset to a healthier diet if not already on one.

    Question for Dr. Tom…..Should I take Berberine with MCT Oil? It’s suppose to help absorption….thank you!

    • @DrTomBiernacki
      @DrTomBiernacki  6 месяцев назад +2

      The idea of combining berberine with MCT oil for enhanced absorption is based on the principle that certain compounds are better absorbed in the presence of fats. Berberine is known to have relatively poor bioavailability, which means that it's not easily absorbed by the body when taken orally. Some studies and anecdotal evidence suggest that taking berberine with a fat source, like MCT oil, may improve its absorption. No strong evidence either way 😊❤🙏

    6 weeks with 1000mg berberine a day, 500 mg twice a day and just dumped 8 pounds. Lowest body weight I have seen in decades. Had lost 12 pounds last year working out and using protein drinks to reduce hunger cravings, and now down another 8. Down 12 over last year, up 2 over winter, down 8 now with berberine. Still working out, less but much heavier weights as in more than 4 times what I started out doing. At first I thought maybe less water with summer here but nah, it would not be that much.

    I’ve been taking berberine for almost a year. No changes in my a1c and cholesterol or weight loss!😮
    No I’ve only taken it in the mid morning before my first meal but not a second on with my dinner. I’ll try that and see if I have a n improvement by my next exam.

    • @donaldkasper8346
      @donaldkasper8346 22 дня назад

      I bet at 500mg its effect is marginal. Would maybe matter if you use berberine hydrochloride (HCl) instead of some powdered plant. I use the HCl and dumped 8 pounds in 6 weeks. At first I thought maybe it was from water loss with start of summer, but then it move from 6 to 8 pounds loss and nah, not that much from water, maybe 1 or 2 pounds.

    6 lbs loss is a big deal. I only need to lose 30 to 45. Lost 12 working out. Dumped 8 lbs more in 6 wks berberine. Gained back 2 over winter (creatine water retention?) so net down so far is 18 pounds. Good start. Don't forget, most sports supplement studies are on the cheap, 3 month studies, so yeah lost 6 pounds in 3 months and the studies stopped does not mean confuse that with 6 pounds loss is all you will see.

      If you take vitamins and/or other natural substances you need to check with your doctor to see if they will interact with your medication, such as in your case. Often your doctor won't know since the average doctor only takes one class on food, natural substances, and how they affect our bodies. You would need to see a specialist who has specific training in.this area. My family doctor is also an integrative medicine specialist. She has this training. Good health to you.

      What a silly system where doctor wants to see his patients and patients need to be seen, but beauracracy blocks the way 😁

    We need a 1 year berberine study, not cheapo 3 month studies. Again you confuse 3 months studies with all you can lose, which is not what the papers explored. 2 pounds a month is an average, excellent loss trajectory, as more you start to impact muscle mass. That could be 24 pounds a year. Yowza, that is what we want to see.
