I love it when officials are knowledgeable, fair, assertive/firm, while remaining calm. Technical issues can and do occur from time to time in every sport. The measure of the official(s) is what happens and how they are handled when issues occur.
Karl Boyes is the MVP here
Filler is the MVP of the whole tournament
Great video. Great cameras. Great commentary. Too bad no end winner footage collecting the award.
Great to see Darren back in action
Got new Canadian glasses.
Can we take the mic little bit away from referee nostrils, I couldn’t hear the commentators 😒
Dude whyd u point that out now i cant help but hear it 🤣

Nice games, lot of luck and skills.
Nice job.
Josua filler is incredible player.

This.
You welcome sir
I really would pay for a matchroom subscription (WITHOUT ADs).
@Too Whom Much Is Given Much Is Required Yeah, and missed 80% of the ones they made. I'm not picking on you, but just sayin. I hear people say things similar to this all the time.
The real point is not missing the odd ball very infrequently, but how many innings do they end, often in a row, without missing a single ball or blowing a safety if that was the intent? One time I watched a match where it was 90 balls potted in a row in 9 ball, 10 straight racks in a race to 10. It turned out in that case that EVERY ONE of those 90 balls had one million dollars riding on it (500k actually, as the insurance company reneged on half, but Earl thought there was One million riding, that was the promise for a perfect break and run 10 pack).
It was a match of Earl Strickland's BTW. Do you think having $10k, $100k, or $1000k riding might make it a bit more difficult? Just how many attempts do you think it would take you to do that? The answer is about 1000X more lifetimes than you have.
I heard it related that SVB once said, when asked if he was ready for a match, that he'd just run 15 racks in a row in practice. That is AMAZING, but not nearly as amazing as the feat Strickland pulled off, because there was literally nothing riding on it when SVB did it, it was just free rolling with not a care in the world, as least WRT that practice. I'm not taking anything away from SVB, one of my very favorite players, but if you asked him that same question of which was the bigger feat, he would almost assuredly answer Earl's, without blinking or thinking.
joshua is like a beast
1:00:47 This is ridiculous. One would think that for an event of this significance, a relatively simple thing such as a well-functioning shot clock, that it would be tested before the event and would not be an issue.
Lol ye. It all started when they didn't restart the clock after Boyes shot. Appleton stepped to the table and thr clock was at 13 seconds already.
You can see the confusion on Appleton.
Then filler later tries crying saying they used it. They did use it Then but that's due to having half the allowed time lol
so wait gb didn't used the extension??
@@germainejoseph5687 Appleton did say extension, but it was only due to them not resetting the shotcl9ck after Karl shot. Appleton started with half the allowed time, as fault of the producers.
@@joshbousche8669 I was trying to figure it out thanks
filler amazing player 👏 🙌 👌
Come on Jason! his name is Christoph, you can do it!
This match is the perfect illustration of why I prefer 10-ball. All the golden breaks, early nines on combinations, and fluked nines. Bah, humbug! 😱
Yeah, because fluking a 10 ball is far less likely than a nine ball, that 10 in the little circle makes all the difference. And more balls makes for less likelihood of getting a random combo...oh wait, no, it doesn't, it makes it MORE likely.
The snap difference probably is significant, but I've never seen a spec on it. I've snapped a goodly number in eight ball, but I don't play 10...clueless there. It might be interesting to look up. You actually usually have to go a ways into a tournament before you get the first snapped nine though, as you probably know, in most matches it doesn't even happen once. This match was beyond absurd, statistics wise. Irritatingly beyond it, your Bah Humbug, for this match, I can totally get behind! :-) And it was such a GREAT match up to that point.
@@MrJdsenior You clearly don’t play 10-ball. Early 10 ball doesn’t count. It spots up. And 10-ball is call pocket, so flukes don’t count.
@@mikethebeginner Yes, I clearly don't. :-)
@@MrJdsenior You’re good. I like 9-ball too, it’s more freewheeling.
All 6 people there enjoyed the game.
I hope Filler got 90% of their prize money! Reintjes' contribution amounted to outrageous flukes and potting the winning 9 ball.
Filler the best👍👍💜
Gotta love the world cup of pool. Always such a fun tournament. Congrats to Germany.
Darren oh darren
he used extension
The best shoot its the close shoot to get score 8 for Germany
Those guys running the timer...
1:24:31 is my favorite soundbite but they're so well-mannered and genuine it's great. New favorite sport
1:31:58 'Please operate the clock' lol

1:40:00 bro real as fuck he's still keeping it up with the homie
1:57:15
1:59:58
'why are they playing the music if there's still balls on the table?'
'because it looks cool!'
12:30 That break was like the 8ball pool app
How to work the fault? If the cue ball dont touch anything.
Good thing is, they are all world class player. I always took it like "well, he is a world class player. He would have potted it anyway."
When you are running a World Cup of anything and the timekeeping is as out of hand as this, you not only affect the competition but it makes the whole sport look ridiculous on the world stage. Maddening to watch.
Appleton was woeful the first 4-5 racks
Hard to take this event seriously as a pro event with the clock issues and the pinball. Thanks for the video tho
Pinball, funny, but I wholeheartedly agree. Called 9, anyone? I don't think I've ever seen a match as ridiculous as this one, in that respect.
@@MrJdsenior that’s part of 9ball. If you don’t want to see a bit of luck go search up some 8ball tourneys
@@Sacredsnow2 I do, and straight, one pocket, banks, etc. It wasn't so much the format as the absurdity of this particular match, though I do get really sick of rotation, to be honest. Unfortunately for me, that seems to be far and away what is shown most...oh well.
Christoph Reintjes looks like the young Willem Dafoe
50:03 Rack 8, struggle of giants!

Billiards must be in a tough spot if they can't afford stool for the broadcaster or a timer for the officials.
Can someone inform me why it’s not ball in hand at around 30 minutes when he just taps the cue and it doesn’t hit any rails. Wouldn’t you just be doing this constantly if you can’t find a shot
It’s a push shot. The team who goes up after the break can play the push. The other team has the option to play or pass. It can only happen after the break

Don't fall for the act!! This is all too easy for the Great Reintjes so he had to spice things up by throwing trick shots here and there. It's quite obvious.
Bad dog, no biscuit. :-) Thumbed, good one.

I'm more concerned for your ability to time-travel 🤔
4 commercials in 14 minutes, what the fuck!
31:21 Wow, from now on Karl should just fire the shots instead of taking his time.
There is still some videos of pool tournaments being played. Is Efren completely retired? Am sure he could give these guys a run for there money.would still LOVE to see him play.
He will be playing in the world cup in a few days 👍
The 2 flukes basically won the match highlighting the inherent flaw in 9ball rules - it is far too easy to shut out your opponent with such big pockets.
Isn't there a version of 9 ball where you have to call your shots?
That would be much better imo and would stop players being robbed by flukes.
yeah if 9 ball should call, there wouldn't be any golden breaks and combos (just like 8 ball)
10 ball is rotation like 9 ball but you have to call your shot.

Interesting to think about what could have happened at 4-2 down had Karl sunk that 4-ball @ 47:20.. Definitely would have been momentum England 🏴 although I think Germany would have won in the end - just not as easily
Butterfly effect means everything would have been different but Germany got incredibly lucky in a bunch of frames. The score line could have easily been reversed if not for fluke after fluke after fluke.
Great Britain not England!
@@michaelrendall9200 that's really splitting hairs when they are both English and comprise the entire team.
So Great Britain is only Great Britain if they are represented by someone from all four nations?

So emberrassing to have technical errors in between the match , really ruined the vibe. Please test your shit days before.
Filler has a good woman....very lucky man.
That's just for show, he's actually gay.
the commentators were so pissed cause uk lost, it made my day
Likewise, you could hear the impartiality oozing from their every word. That one comment about "he missed that last one, he could miss ANYTHING" had me dying with laughter 😂😂😂 what a stupid take on it! Well done Deutschland 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
I'm not from the UK... How could the commentators not be pissed... That was some of the worst play I've ever seen in a final and he never got penalized for it
@@nickelassr1857 some of the worst play? Okay 👍🏻
The whole game he played safe on tough makeable of shots... He did make some tough ones... But he missed a lot and never paid the price.. Plus Luke the 9 ball on the break and fluke the nine ball on the miss

Matchroom could at least change the rule to call the 9. A lot of leagues play 9 with that rule.
Nah, the drama is good for TV
It's 9-ball. If you want to call go play 10-ball

Wow that miss on the 3. Very unexpected from the German side.
Edit
Wowww , nerves hitting Great Britain side too! Unbelievable!
Edit omg! Rack 2!
I think jump shots are cool indeed and require excellent skill, but I think they should have a separate tournament where they can’t, and have to use pure geometry
Another fluke in the same rack on the 9 ball. German luck yet again
I hate the german luck. I thought it was just filler back then
German luck :D as if this a terminology. Of course, luck brought them through the tournament. I know what you guys mean in these specific racks but come on :)

what with the embarrassing face for the fluke , it's fine ! :P
Karl Boyes… Elon Musk’s twin brother ?
Slow game. Lots of safeties, come on man. Nobody take chances like Steve Davis used to take against Strickland. And he was a snooker player.
If you lose on safety battles then you clearly lose the game. Defense will always be a part of the game.
@@robertdominicceasarsalvill2221 Absolutely. Can't agree more. But I prefer pool like in the olden days. Fast paced. I play snooker myself. So when I watch pool,I expect it to be quick and exciting. I'm tired of the strictness and the lack of excitement in snooker

If Josh filler can win with this guy....he can win with anyone...this guy is horrible at pool.
what the hell kind of scuffed ass rules does 9 ball have to where you dont have to make each ball in the called pocket?? like really, slop is allowed in professional 9 ball??? that's why 8 ball will always be the superior game mode in my opinion.
Flukes should not be allowed. The better team did not win
That celebration of Joshua's on losing rack number four that they won on horseshoe in butt BS was pretty lame. I don't know who made the noise there after he did that, but whoever it was was justified if it was in fact a response. I am to the point after this where I think 9s should be CALLED. Absolutely ridiculous. And where players usually sit down with unhappy or neutral looks or an apologetic wave Joshua arm pump celebrates HORRIBLY hit balls. I realize he's young, but good grief.
"The Brits need a chance" In this match what the Brits needed was to be able to miss balls like rank amateurs, sometimes 10 degrees out of line, and have them fall in the pockets somewhere else anyway. They didn't look like pros on those shots, they looked like 2nd week newbie bangers. Nothing like being up 10-6 when it should be the other way round. I really don't think matches should be won or lost on nine ball flukes. In many amateur leagues 9s are called, they should be in the pros to negate this crap.
It took all the fun out of watching a match that was shaping up to be very good, the whole front end was a total joy to watch.
Josh's wife is hottt
This is not pool! This is 9 ball. Pool is 15 balls black is #8
Lol
Absolutely disgusting!
Everything about this match was a terrible representation of (pro) pool.
Are you sure these are "professionals"?? Some of the balls missed were shocking for a final! I highly doubt these guys could make a break of 50 on a snooker table!!
