  • Today in Britain, we have many wonderful Victorian buildings. How is it that the Victorians built such great buildings, so much better than the common buildings of today? Well, one reason is that all the rubbish they built has been torn down or fell down, and so we are not left with a complete picture of their building standards.
Mud bricks, I said in a recent video, are good building materials. They are, but they are not the material you should choose if you want to impress arachaeologists looking at your world in two thousand years' time.
This video starts in Olympos, and then includes material from Phellos and Xanthos, both in Lycia, and Ephesus in Ionia. The day I was in Olympos, it rained constantly.
My videos suffer very badly from uploading to RUclips. On my computer, all the writing on the map is clearly readable, but I see that the RUclips version is hazy, which is very annoying.
