    Imagine the howling dragon’s lair being constructed to be extra sound reflective ,every time the dragon roars ,it echoes all over the lair deafening all in it’s lair and dealing extra Thunder damage each turn.

      Maybe on the prime material 🤔, pandemonium it's self should already have reduced any glass to a powder by the time you find a howling dragon there though. I feel like a cloud of glass powder might be worse lol 😅

    I'd love to hear more about Pandemonium. The idea of a prison plane seems like a very dramatic place to have PC's run around in.

    Interesting, I thought the Stygian Linnorm was another name for the Styx Dragon, but they are different species. Good to know.
    I once used a wyrmling Styx Dragon as a villain in my campaign setting, it had somehow found its way to the material plane, and settled into a major city's sewer system, it then started to prey on the populace of the city. The PC's originally thought it was an Otyugh, but they eventually tracked the beast to its lair, and dealt with it. It was a nice, simple adventure that was played out over a couple of sessions.

    Howling Dragon is one of my favorite planar dragons to plan around. I had a campaign setting where someone (the campaign main villain) was making contact with planar dragons. Offering them free reign on the material plane if they would do a favor for him. Each was given an amulet that granted a shapeshifting power.
    The howling dragon became a court jester, a la The Joker, and was setting up a sonic network between two formerly warring nations. The idea was they would create a D&D version of a telephone that could connect the kings. At the ceremony activating it, the Howling Dragon would unleash it's full sonic power and devastate each kingdom, restarting the war. It would be up to the players to find and stop his schemes.
    Since it's a Joker like NPC, it couldn't help but mess with them over the course of the adventure even if only through it's twisted games.

    I've always thought that wine made from grapes that are near the River Styx, perhaps an infernal vineyard, have a mindwiping tenancy. Maybe something used by demons and devils to forget their tortured existence, or something a trickster could steal and use in cons. However the dark energy in the wine would taint them over time.

      Those few who did not serve willingly are drivin mad with a cacophonous threnody. Her choice victims, or most valuable servants, would be consumed and remade as shades to serve the Dark Lady for eternity or until her death.

      elijah potts well D&D 5th edition (current) is the easiest for new people to learn, if you have a local gaming store that sells board games and what not, or something like a Barnes and Noble. Or you can find the books cheaper on Amazon

    • @peytonsims5380

      elijah potts do you have people to play with, or know where there are people who play, because you need to know what the people you will hopefully be playing with want to play, that being said 5e is the most likely answer

      there's adventurers league at game stores/there's Reddit to find groups/D&D beyond has a general board for finding a group/roll20 is an option but I'm sure if none of those work someone here is looking for another player. Good luck!

    • @wolfmac3923
      @wolfmac3923 6 лет назад

      If you want to find a group to play with, then all you'll need at first is the player's handbook. The other books are very useful, but the player's handbook is the bible here. I'd say go to a local game shop to find the book to support them, but if not then amazon has them for 30 if you have prime. If you find that you have problems with the rules, there are several resources here to help with the details.
      Now if after that you decide that you want to DM... now we have you by the balls. Then all those other books start becoming more relevant.

    • @AJPickett
      @AJPickett  6 лет назад +5

    • @zacharyhawley1693
      @zacharyhawley1693 6 лет назад +2

      Wherever the styx touches thats where those dragons dwell so yes. But do keep in mind that even if predators territories overlap. They generally won't intrude on the other unless starving. Unless the Hellfire dragons are dumb enough to challenge a styx dragon within spitting distance of the styx. In which case, natural selection is in full force.

    • @Greenscyth22
      @Greenscyth22 6 лет назад +3

      It would probably be a stalemate. Hellfire wyrm's breath weapons wouldn't have that much affect on the Styx Dragon while it's in or near water. And I don't think the "infernal" damage of half the flame would do much to it. They'd just pepper it with Fire Storm's from the air till it got annoyed and swam away.

    • @zacharyhawley1693
      @zacharyhawley1693 6 лет назад

    Quick question
    If i use a prepared spell and have four spell slots can i cast that same prepared spell 3 more times then use a cantrip or do those use a slot too?

    • @JoshDurelofIOW
      @JoshDurelofIOW 6 лет назад +4

      Cantrips do not cost spell slots, Spell slots tell you how many times you can cast a spell at that level, so if you have 4 level 1 spell slots, you can cast magic missile (a level 1 spell) 4 times or you can cast Magic missile 2 times and shield 2 times, it's a shared resource.
      You can also use higher level spell slots to cast lower level spells, so say you have the four "1st level spell slots" and two "2nd spell slots" you can cast Magic missile as a second level spell instead which improves its power. (Some spells cant be cast at higher levels, but they are kind of rare.)
      Cantrips cost no spell slots, and as such you can always use any known cantrips.
      Don't know if this helps, spell casting in D&D is probably one of the harder things to wrap ones head around.
