Vic Firth is the real MVP for posting good quality run-throughs of these shows. Its still worthwhile to support your favorite corps by buying recordings, but I love having recordings like these for all the shows I can't afford to buy as well as an easy way to show people these amazing shows.
Yup as a brass player, I want the best quality audio, so I prefer to watch the blu-rays. But yeah I've exposed a lot of people to DCI via youtube.
If it weren’t for vic firth I wouldn’t even know about DCI, so you could make the argument that this yt channel changed my life
I remember last year when they performed this for the first time in Clovis... right before the first impact/hit everything was silent and I moaned because of the music and everyone around me laughed... this show deserves more attention it's astonishing
10:40 I went to powder springs Georgia to the southeastern championship and I heard them warming up and I actually cried it was the first thing I heard live from a corp and that's when it hit me that I was actually seeing all these drum corps. It was so beautiful
This was honestly my favorite show from Blue knights and one of my favorite shows from 2017!
20i7*
8:25 timpani be lit, timpani be quicc, timpani jump over the candlesticc
REPLY
Eric W das me
liiiiiiiiiiit
One word.YEET
8:33 sneaky timp player dab.
mini hoov i saw that and nearly died 😂
Das me, wasn't intentional, but I can def see why it looks that way
Great traditional Drum Corp build with a modern flare!!from 5:29 to 5:51. EXCELLENT!!
Sky Writer Agreed! I kind of feel it is a minor cross between BD & Cadets at this point of the show.
Poke’G Definitely see where you’re coming from. I was thinking a bit of Cadets as well
Crown Fan here.....this was my fav show for 2017 especially the music!!
I'm def. giving props to whomever wrote the music too. Really nice writing.
@@dctrbrass Jay Bocook, Mike Jackson, and Kevin Shaw
That timpani groove starting at 8:28 that then spreads to the hornline is possibly the catchiest lick I've heard in DCI lol
Ralph Parker I really love it it's one of my favorite licks ever
Ralph Parker That's from the movie "Dancer in the Dark" and the song is by Bjork called "107 steps".
Ralph Parker It's pretty close to the original. It's on the album by Bjork called Selmasongs.
NovaInc. You're a Godsend my dude, thanks a lot
The timpani player dabs
Show about why you shouldn’t be on your phone all the time
Requires a device to watch it in 2018
Aquamelon! You can watch on a tv, laptop, consoles. Not just a phone is required.
Spectacular just spectacular. It is my dream to be part of this corp when I am in college.
The depth of this show is beyond what many understand. The music is by far phenomenal. This show had me in tears not only because of phenomenal execution but because of the deep messages written into the show. I believe there is a deep philosophical questioning happening here in this show asking all beings, with all the technological connection that we have today, have we lost our way from the connection that really matters.
Semi-off-topic question: Who had the better arrangement of Imogen Heap's Hide and Seek: 2007 Spirit from JSU or 2017 Blue Knights?
This might be one of my favorite shows
4:25 is the best part. I literally spit out my water 😂😂
Caleb I did, I had just gotten out of Band Camp bud. Try me lmao
Caleb I just wasn't expecting it, I was just trynna watch some Blue Knights. And I look at my phone and see that, it was great
2018 & I still come back to watch this show... it's just that good. No one going for the snare solo this season... too bad.
5:09 "velocities" in the front ensemble. fun marimba piece.
I knew I recognized it, I was trying so hard to think where it was from😭
It is i the faithful the fallen and forgivin
Vidiz lol The faithful the fallen and forgiven Phantasm
It Is I, Metamorph, the Faithful the Fallen and the Forgiven Ouroboros Phantasm
LOL ! nice :)
Creative! 👍
It is i the faithful the fallen and forgive ourboros Phantasm and I have come to unleash the beast of babylon
Love this show. 2014 and 2015 are prob my fave BK shows....Fly to Paradise still gives me goosbumps
love that run at 12:00 & how she finishes it... really dig that kinda of full-commitment musicianship...
Most gorgeous chord reharminization at 2:20
lol almost feel like that intro could be analyzed in a theory class. some badass writing there.
Late reply but the opener was AWESOME. Especially that last chord
Absolutely stunning. Two of my favorite chords that any hornline has ever played
Nice! That brass writing!!!!! Awesome. For example, the last statement that leads to the final chord in the 1st movement. Really nice counterpoint.
This show is so underrated
Probably my favorite show in a whike
Definitely my favorite show in a whike as well
My color guard director was a member in 2017! I spotted him, too!
My color guard director was a part of this show!
I SEE YOU NATHAN!
3:57 mmm, gotta love those singles
8:56 now that's what I call hitting the brakes
I will march for you in 2019
PineappleGamer did you make it?
did you do it?
How was this only 8th?
I'm asking the same thing
I LOVE this show, but hate the voice samples.
Kevin Simmons We did too tbh
The philosophy of showing rather than saying very much applies to drum corps. Though they've had some good samples in the past.
6:15
This show is actually better when they're half naked. It makes more sense.
🤔
What the fuck
Thats not creepy whatsoever
@@steverman2312 39 people up-voted my creepy comment. The expression "half-naked" shouldn't trigger you into harassment convulsions. You've been conditioned to be oversensitive. Who is rewarding you for this behavior? Are you going to do that in college? How on earth will you get through your class on Chaucer?
Ughhh I wanna join so baaaad
what gopro clamp mounts are they using pls
Angus Hsieh I believe they are the go pro jaw mount clamp
What is that opener
9:30 - 11:40 is called Hide and Seek by Imogen Heap 🖤
oh god it looks painful to do fills on that drumset
yeah it does
Mmmm, whatcha saayyyy
Mmm that you only meant well, well of course you did
Jesus, how am I just seeing this show, and how did it not make 1st place?!
roman taylor uhhhh Metamorph was just.. way better...
@@TylerSmith-wo7sq that's,,, an opinion
what sticks are the quads using?
Chris Eastmead mike jackson’s and ralph hardimon nylons
rip the snare solo in kuna, ID. mic failed or something and the sound didn't come through the synth.
That was really unfortunate :( I remember that particular show. I was volunteering with a different corps and got to see them at their other shows. My particular favorite was Ogden.
What’s the song during the ballad? Sounds so familiar I know what it is
I believe it is "Hide and Seek"by Imogen Heap
I wish I was that good
2shotz Stop wishing and go get it.
the auditions are $250 at jfk high school this year so if u wanna try out XD
4:28-4:31
What is the opener called?
Wave by Beck
No but like deadass, that synth player pretty cute
Ye
Indeed
This makes me sad. Our school had a fiasco with the band directors sleeping with students, and the second one got fired. Our band starts in 7th grade. I came into 9th grade with pretty much 6th grade knowledge. I’ve always wanted to join drum courp but i will never be good enough at this point.
Griffin Bowers just keep working hard for it! You can do it
Griffin Bowers Hey man, I know plenty of people that have marched corps pick up their instrument for the very the year that they first auditioned. You've got this!
You honestly can, you just have to work hard and push yourself to be your best 24/7, you got this.
Work hard dude! I was behind in 9th grade too....was still writing fingerings under the notes and didn't know my scales. But made all-state and all-south in a couple years. Do your thing man.
I played synth for an indoor group in Texas in 2016... I am now marching Blue Knights quads for the 2018 season, anything is possible.
does the drumset players tom setup annoy anyone else? just me? ok
hitting_things_with _broken_trees Guess he just likes it F L A T . ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
OMG YESSS!!! I thought it was just me...
Don't you mean "the drumset player's"? We have apostrophes in this language for a reason
As someone who's played on a drumset using that rack setup, it's really hard to set it up any other way
They should have called the show "O" for arangytangeiy
They couldn't do that.
4:36
Magee
4:29 XD
6:10
It’s that damn phone.
06:10
Very entertaining show they needed more time to clean
I agree. So much good stuff happening.
8:09 seventyniiiiiiine
3:33 holy CHRIST that bass run
Spider-Man plays marimba
And the award for the most extra percussion goes to.....
Husky
6:13 is the only time a mapex drum has ever sounded good
Mapex drums sound amazing now, they use to sound horrible
@@sycomantz bruh what Vanguard's tuning is superior
Liked this show, hated the intro. Not the music but the drill, it just looked like the staff said "Hey, how many visuals can we fit into the beginning of this show?" and as a result it just doesn't look clean imo
