Somebody should write a thesis and/or book about Terry's years at Lancaster University, all the way through from October 2008 to next year's Lancaster event for his 80th birthday celebrations. That thirteen years is quite a stint - longer than he'd been anywhere else except Oxford. So, aspirant PhD researchers, there's a ready-made topic for you!

this is great ,anything by eagleton is great .Yet he is a bit premature ,he said he discovered the meaning of it in 21 May 2021.I realised the true attribute of literature earlier .My granny used to listen to the wireless and quote all the best songs on Radio Eireann .It wasnt until years later after emigration to NZ ,when i heard a members of Maori band hearing my accent said "you know this one ?"They proceeded to play "let mr maguire sit down "I was so moved I had to sit down .I realised recently ,this is literature .Written from the point of view of a granny ,addressing property rights ,gender assumptions ,all unaddressable ..I thought of this on 18 May 2021 .As a result when this lockdown ends I will go for a pint in Tandragee a few miles from where i was born .
Keep it up Terry your Irish whakapapa (ancestors) are with you

Knock off the ad hominem criticism and twisted Biblical interpretation. BTW, Philip Larkin will survive well after you’ve been forgotten!
