College ball is so much better than pro nowadays. You dont see this kind of defensive play or even effort in the pros. Uconn's defense literally SWARMED Purdue..... won every single game this tournament by double digits..... 6 titles in 25 years. Unreal
The NBA game is great in a different way IMO, but you’re absolutely right that modern NBA rules have made it a totally different game where it’s hard to play defense, offense has a massive advantage, and it’s refreshing to watch college where the rules are similar to the NBA rules of old and bring balance between offense and defense to the game.
Purdue actually did have to sit Edey at times when he was breathing heavily and there were a few times he was totally gassed and just too tired to even try to block a shot. He played his heart out and is a great college player, but as a team UCONN was superior. If Edey had scored 50 UCONN still would have won. Their game plan was to just keep Edey from literally scoring every time (he did miss 10 shots, 3 free throws, and turned the ball over 3 times), at least stay close in the first half, then utterly dominate Purdue in the second half as they tired out due to an inferior bench and inferior physical conditioning. UCONN never gets tired. Late in the second half they are as fresh as at tipoff.
edey airballed 4 free throws.. I think he was worn down dude. But you're right, edey carried perdue the entire season and this game exposed perdue's inconsistent guards once again
@@lawsofhumannature2049 Purdue’s backcourt never had to play against defense like UCONN’s. UCONN and Houston were really the only elite defenses in D1 this year. No one else in their league for D, so Purdue was totally unprepared for noone on their team to he productive besides Edey.
No one has more championship than them since the tourney was a modern 64+. Lot of UCLA, Kansas, Kentucky, and UNC championships were when the tourney was only 25 or 32 teams without much parity, so first round was an easy win and you started in the Sweet 16 back in those days. It was a lot easy to win the tourney in the 1940’s - 1970’s.
Basketball Capital of the World! UConn Huskies dominate college basketball! Jim Calhoun, Kevin Ollie, Danny Hurley all great coaches. Six championships, back to back with no challengers. Huskies rule !
Many of those team’s championships came during the era when only 25 or 32 teams played in the tournament and parity was much worse than it is today, so if you were a 1 seed back then you basically were playing the equivalent of a 16 seed today in round 1 but you started at 32 or 16 with a bye round out of 25 teams total, so you’d play one weak team and find yourself in the Elite 8 right away during many of those old basketball eras. UCONN is the only program to have anywhere close to this many championships when parity was greater and 64+ teams made the tourney with more rounds making it harder to win.
I think Charles and the rest of the panel do a magnificent job all the time. But why didn’t someone call out some of the UConn players? To interview them after the game as the women did? I was very disappointed. 🥲🥲🥲🥲
The Big East legacy lives on! Congratulations UCon!
Congratulations to UConn
It was meant to be. Congrats UConn🎉
Danny Hurley repping that NJ grit.Great Team and absolute unselfish play by all
He physically pushed his player, acted like a five yr old child, was called unhinged by the announcer. That's not NJ. That's an embarrassment.

@@paddyjames14 silly comment there son. Uconn is an excellent university and Hurley is embarrassing the school.

Bc once you get to the pros it’s all entertainment. You’re an actor that gets paid a lot, you made it to the show. Simple.
I started following UConn during the Corny Thompson/Earl Kelley transition. 1982
Congratulations Big East/ UCONN 🥳
Thank you UConn Huskies, you do us proud.
always been a uconn basketball fan since i was a kid, no clue why. they just always seem to have the best foot forward mayhbe
Well they been good since Kemba days so they been relevant so makes sense lol. Then the shabazz naipier teams too
Low iq?
Let's go Huskies!!
No Shabazz Napier mention!? Crazy!
To say UCONN dominated perdue is an understatement. They destroyed them!
Edey Worn down? Dude carried his whole team and could have had 50 if time allowed.. Its just unfortunate his teammates couldn't pick up the slack.
They got shut down

Yea yea Buckeyes beat em 2 😮👊💪💪. O H

Don't want to hear about Kentucky, Kansas, North Carolina, being heart of basketball. Kentucky is dead so are the other 2 not as much.
