I never liked cats either, but someone ended up dumping a kitten near my house who found shelter in the bushes along the side of my house, and he stole my heart. I adopted him and absolutely adore cats now haha.
We had something like that happen many years ago (people love dumping unwanted animals out in the country sadly, that's how we got our current dog as well). Mom and I were looking to leave but heard something meowing and as I looked around I finally found her in some weeds. She quickly earned her name Nuisance and was the only cat we've had that lived in the house. When she finally passed we buried her under the one tree outside she liked to lay under when she was out and planted Easter Lilies on the grave.
I wasn't a cat person until in 1976 I found a 3 day old kitten by the side of the road covered in fleas. I took her to the vet then took her home to care for her which meant a bottle feeding every few hours and then stimulating her to "go". Ali lived to be 20 years old and I've had many cats since then, including 2 now, the youngest which might outlive me.
Years ago my then husband was coming in after an early morning fishing trip and while he was hooking the boat onto the trailer on the back of his car (it was a Mercury Cougar) he told us he kept hearing a “cry/meow” NEAR the car. He said he checked all possible hiding spots and didn’t find a cat/kitten. Driving home the near 25 minute drive he said he heard it again. Trailering a boat doesn’t leave much room for pulling over/stopping so he continued home, and began washing the boat. All was quiet but then the meows began again so he got a rolling board and a flashlight and went under the car where a tiny kitten face was staring at him from the top of the wheel-well. 😻 He didn’t believe she rode home under there, but just couldn’t figure out what tiny area he hid in. My kids named him Cougar yet sadly we were unable to keep him. After 2 nights we brought him to our local veterinarian who partners with volunteers to home strays after the veterinarian spays/neuters them. 😔 This was over 20 years ago! I’d like to think Cougar had a loving forever home and could still be around ❤️ Edit: I forgot the part where he thought to himself if he’s hearing meows while driving the cat/kitten was probably terrified, yet he said he just wanted to get to our driveway as quickly as possible if in fact a kitten was hiding somewhere. At one point the last leg of the trip the meowing stopped and he thought the absolute worst. He explained to our kids (as they were toddlers at the time) that Cougar was seeking shelter and the warmth of the engine while the car was parked and he was off fishing the nearby waters. Back then we didn’t have access to the Internet for answers/information like today, and I’d never in my life before Cougar knew or thought to check for fur babies in/around/under our cars during inclement weather.
Just this year we drove around in Mom's car for HOURS without knowing we had TWO kittens in the car, one riding in the front grill and the other riding on the right rear wheel mechanism. She was lucky that Mom heard her BROTHER meowing in the front and when I looked I saw her down in the wheel, just a few feet drive and she'd have been no more. Both kittens were amazingly lucky.

Isn’t it hilarious when cats choose the person that didn’t bring them home? My mom brought a cat home when I was living with my parents in college, and it immediately attached to me and eventually became my cat 😂. My mom was so mad. It’s true when they say they “choose” you. It will be perfectly friendly and playful with other people you live with, but whoever it chooses to sleep with is it’s “person”. Haha

Homes need to be "kitten proofed" like a "baby proofed" home. Exactly like it. Then give plenty of & teach your kitten what are toys and keep non toys out of reach. If the kitten gets into a non kitten item, gently say no, give it a cat toy say yes and distract it away from non cat item. Praise when plays with cat toy. And play with kitty before getting busy & before sleep so kitty doesn't feel left out& kitty will sleep too. Kitties don't need to be he'll on wheels when taught to play with toys and are shown enough attention. If they are "he'll on wheels" it's because they are either bored or unhappy or both. They can't talk so they can only communicate the best they can. Humans have to be patient and listen as well as talk to them. They are intelligent and understand what we are telling them.
Only a monster without a heart couldn't fall in love with a kitten like that. 💖💖💖 Have you ever noticed every Disney character has a face just like this kitty? Big eyes, cute face and therefore adorable

True. Lol. I guess some of us aren't really "cat people" but we have huge hearts, and we love animals (and want to protect them). So I certainly don't dislike cats, but *(of course)* I've never had a cat of my own. Lol.
@@sterlingarcher81, I completely agree. I had four ferrets and a little dog. I never imagined I'd have cats. Then I rescued two from a neighbor's litter and immediately fell in love. I grew up with both, but my father was one of those people who cared more for dogs. His logic was that dogs were more interactive, whereas cats "jumped on the highest piece of furniture and looked down on you." But when I got my cats (as kittens), I quickly discovered that they had amazing and unique personalities. The disconnect with my father seemed to be his not-understanding that felines interact differently than canines. It doesn't make them any less loving and affectionate. They just respond to stimulus on a different spectrum (probably an evolutionary survival instinct). The key with cats is to not overload them. When they get too wound up, they can't differentiate between playing and danger, and seem to have a harder time coming down versus a dog. Of course, this depends on the breed and temperament of a dog as well (mine was a mix and very submissive/beta). Oh, one last thing, I absolutely LOVE your profile pic! Great show!

May be just because street dogs and cats are arch nemesis
But now he just loves my kitten "Mi" 😆
He can't stand a word against him😂lol
I was going to make the same comment.
That was my mom 🤣 she basically hated cats before, just seeing one made her frown. Then she saw an abandoned kitty and she just had to adopt her lol she is now the queen of the house.
mostly every not a cat person
I was a dog person, until my teenager got a kitten, ignored him for as long as i could but 4 years later she moved out and asked to take him and I said "No". He was my baby and I was his person!!Love all cats now!! I was not so cruel to leave her alone. I gave her another cat and she loves him as well. Everybody happy!!🤣💝💝
😂
Good game plan..another cat gets a new home w daughter
Isn’t it hilarious when cats choose the person that didn’t bring them home? My mom brought a cat home when I was living with my parents in college, and it immediately attached to me and eventually became my cat 😂. My mom was so mad. It’s true when they say they “choose” you. It will be perfectly friendly and playful with other people you live with, but whoever it chooses to sleep with is it’s “person”. Haha
Awww she’s so cute, she’s like a little teddy bear🥰, Animals are the cutest most amazing creatures ever and deserve love, happiness and more🐶🐱🐻🦊🐯

Kittens leave paw prints on your heart
When I heard him call her Luna, that first night, I thought…YEP, HE’S A GONER!! 😆 She stole his heart! Thankfully! Many thanks for saving little Luna! Bless you!🐈❣️🐈
OMG Luna on his neck while driving!🥰 Kittens are just the cutest.
Most “I don’t like cats” people are really “I’ve never had a cat in my life”.
@Out Side Nah, I got a dog. I became more adamant about not liking dogs as a result.
@@chere100 me too !! but had just dogs around ...
That is so true!

Hey 👋
I think she definitely loves you as much as you love her!!! Love the part where she is sleeping in her Dad's hoodie!
When she was laying on his chest and looking at that camera, it was as if she was saying, "My Daddy!". They definitely choose us! Thank you for sharing such a sweet story.
Such a beautiful kitten. I teared up when he said, "...we can't think about letting her go now."
ok, the cat sleeping in the pinkish hoodie with you just captured the perfect match...thank you for the humanity of saving this kitten....I hope you're best friends for a long time....& you deserve admiration
Awww! She is so adorable, who could resist? Kittens are made that way for a reason. I found one, too. And brought him home - 7 years ago. :)
Luna was meant to be in your lives.

Love Luna’s big eyes. She is lucky you found her and took her in.
I'm so thankful to the people that rescued her. ❤️
Shes a adorable kitty , I was a dog person for 30+ years until i met my wife she had 3 cats and now im a cat person with 2 cats that are both rescues just like Luna ! 😺😸
After a week of being sick, this video makes me feel a little better, it’s true the saying, “we didn’t adopt them, they adopted us”. She was meant for your family!
I almost fell off my sofa when I saw Luna hanging out on the back of her Dad's neck. Thank you for rescuing and providing Luna with her forever home. 😻🥰
she’s adorable with that pretty pink nose.
When they find you, they steal your heart. Congratulations on your forever fur buddie.
I love it when people realize that they didn’t know themselves as well as they thought!
“I’m not a cat person….”
Yeah, I'm not even sure they knew cats at all and thought because they had never had one it meant they didn't like cats.
As soon as they started calling her Luna I knew they were hooked lol. How could you not be!
She sure chose the right tire to crawl up into. The one who is “not a cat person”. That always works!!!
She's a keeper. Thank you for giving her a forever home. 🤗💕
The way she climbed the stairs was sooo cute 😍. I love cats. Heart melting cute cats that make you scream from their cuteness

What a sweet and polite little girl. Whenever I've had kittens they've always been hell on wheels.
Amen. Everything. And I mean EVERYTHING is a plaything.
F for all the cords and earphones that have been chewed into pieces
@@povohru Oof, yes. Any sort of cable or wire is irresistible to them
Homes need to be "kitten proofed" like a "baby proofed" home.

What a little angel
She was so tiny! Poor little thing. The world must have looked huge to her. Bless you for loving her 💖😻💖
So very kind of you. many people i know would have abandoned even such a helpless animal because they selfishly want to maintain their homes spik and span .
She is so precious. What an angel. She loves her Daddy. Thank you for taking such good care of her.
The thought of what would have happened if he drove scares me.
IKR, and it seems like there are alot of instances of cats or kittens that hide in car engines, wheels, etc.
I've seen it happen the cat was fine. As soon as the tire moves, cats jump off and run. Cars tend to start slowly and gives them enough time
@@juulee Not always. There was this white cat who was ran over in my neighborhood, caught between the tire. In addition, people speed here seemingly trying to run over cats . Can't they wait til they cross the street Geez.

"Guy Who Didn't Like Cats Finds One Stuck In His Tire"
*the very first night they find her
Him: "Luna!"
Me: "Uh, yeah, if you've named her three seconds after rescuing her, it's too late to claim you don't like cats. You've already fallen in love and seen the light of being a cat parent."
Welcome to the world of having fur babies!!!
True.
Great show!
